I think the source should be disclosed but the open source requirement should only require modifications to be allowed to the extent necessary to provide continuous support through future updates to KSP. I think that's a reasonable compromise.

I think we've all had the experience of having a seemingly fine rocket disintegrate on the pad, or shortly after launch. Since career mode will presumably penalize this in someway, it would be good to have utility to determine if this is going to happen before launch is attempted. I've seen some discussion on the forum of implementing a 'simulation' mode. Since that might not be a good, or practical, I suggest this: A 'structural integrity check' function in the VAB that will background simulate the physics of the rocket on the pad and/or shortly after launch, and provide either an 'ok' message, or a visual or textual indication of what parts have failed.

Entitlement is such an airhorn word in this context. For some reason, some people prefer to attack others for wanting things they frequently use to remain operational as 'entitled', rather than discuss how to maintain or replace abandoned, but useful utitlies. Does permission exist for KW to be maintained and kept compatible if it has been ditched? -

KW works fine in .21, but I'd also like to know if it was ditched. -
I use MechJeb, and I love it. I don't use the modes other than Smart ASS because they tend be inaccurate. Smart ASS and the various info displays are indispensable though.

Suggestion RE airports: Use accurate runway numbers. The runway should be numbered according to compass heading(at KSC, for example, one side is 27, the other is 9).

Just ran across this post, and I'd like to point that that is inaccurate. FAR works fine with Deadly Reentry, I use the two together.
