You could turn down the control authority on those tail fins a bit.
That's what I was thinking.

I had a kerbal instantly die upon hitting the EVA button.
That happens to me, too. And when it does, If I go back to KSP and look in the Astronaut Complex, there are no kerbals in there, either for hire or assigned. Restarting the game fixes it. Might be a bug. Do playing modded or stock?

This X1,000.
Here's the thing, if you want a feature and it's not in the game, there's probably a mod for it. "It should be stock" or "I only want to play stock" is not a valid answer. Why? Because you are not the only person that plays this game, and just because you think something should be stock doesn't mean that the rest of us do. Unless there's a large majority of people thinking a feature should be stock, then it probably shouldn't be. The beauty of this game, and why it's still got such a loyal following, is because, and I firmly believe this, SQUAD has embraced the modding community to enhance it's product.

KSP, because it's too busy.
This. It does it to me too. Patience, grasshopper. Give it a second.

Uhm, i guess not. I have not heard of this bug yet nor experienced it myself. Can you clarify this a bit more? With a log, steps to reproduce it etc? When did the bug fist appeear? Thanks!
I was looking though the thread and no one else was reporting it. I figured it was something on my end, so i didn't really bother with logs. I removed the old version and then updated to the new one and the issue seems to be gone. I'm not sure what the cause was. You could rotate around all axes, but you couldn't change it's velocity at all. It started with the KSP update from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3. In any case, the problem is gone.

Update 1.1.3
I updated KPBS to fix the rather serious bug with the central hub.
I don't suppose this involved not being able to apply any dV to a craft with the central hub in it?

Among other reasons you're having trouble, the aerospike engine does not gimbal to assist with steering and attitude control.
Best answer. You need gimbals and/or fins for stability.

The pitch needle pegs as soon as you start the gravity turn.

33. Mentioning your name of your craft like the rest of us are supposed to know what it even looks like.

With some sort of rocket propelled vehicle, generally.

Can't decide if that's a sly reference to steam or a very bad fart joke ...

I have a class C at 1M and a class A out past Minmus somewhere, but I haven't done a thing with them but park them. I've been meaning to mine them, but I haven't gotten around to it.

I agree... I would like to see some 3.75m capsules... And a 3.75m on the bottom, to a 2.5m on the docking end...
Check Near Future Spacecraft. Has exactly the thing you want.

Poodle for basically everything. I am at home for building 2.5m rockets. My favorite engine for launching however is the middle 2.5m engine(not the poodle and not the mainsail) since its efficiency is pretty good as an atmospheric engine and a vacuum engine
Poodle is a solid choice, I just hate the way it looks. Looks like a mouthpice on a trumpet or something, not a rocket engine.

My favorite is probably the Terrier: It's light and efficient, you get it early and it's cheap, and it never really becomes obsolete.
Gonna go with this. +1

Also, that big heavy engine keeps your craft pointing correct-side into the wind.
A correctly configured re-entry vehicle will, too. Hands-free.

Yeah, there's an issue with wheels. Hopefully fixed in 1.1.3. It's a problem in Unity I believe.

By the way, this happens with every single game.
When you start playing something without really knowing how A and B work, the experience is different. But with time, you learn those things and your game experience changes. When that happens, it's impossible to forget A and B and have the previous experience, leaving you with nostalgia, and in some cases, takes the fun away from the game, forcing you to stop playing.
I really miss my early KSP days.
I have this with every game that I enjoy as much as KSP. Any of the Fallouts, any of the Elder Scrolls. All the Mass Effects. Any game I come back to after I've worn it out.

I've had to use RCS to get back into the atmosphere, but never from a backpack.
Does and EVA rendezvous from the surface of Gilly count?

Seriously, can we stop trying to make it seem like there are right and wrong ways to play, ever?
