  1. The Kerbal Space Program started out as a bunch of amateurs building model rockets out of stuff they found in Jeb's dad's junkyard and bootstrapped their way to successful orbits and reentries before the government started getting interested. Things progressed from there.
  2. I think being able to set the stiffness of the suspension in the VAB would be nice, actually.
  3. Please tell me that is not Alvin and the [expletive deleted] Chipmunks covering The Police...
  4. I think it's intended at some point that they'll be able to send data if they're within n metres of a working capsule with an antenna of some sort.
  5. Steam Gauges is also designed for people with 21-inch monitors or larger.
  6. There's a mod that partially implemented some of these, but it was tied to the spaceplane landing gear and used some library sound files that I think the creator got from a Microsoft Flight Simulator modding resource site. It'd got as far as altitude and sink rate warnings and he was looking into FAR integration but I haven't seen it updated recently.
  7. I wouldn't even know where to start modelling, I'm afraid.
  8. Thanks for the advice. If he doesn't respond I'll just C&P the changes I made to the .cfg files up here and let people modify it manually, I'm pretty sure that isn't IP theft.
  9. Spaceport link I can't find a forum thread for them or any contact details for their creator and I don't know if they'll see a comment on the page after all this time, so I'm posting here. I found these tanks really quite useful in conjunction with FAR and I was going to do a quick and dirty part.cfg edit to make them available in career mode, and possibly making that jet fuel only version a few other people have asked for. Do you have any particular objection to me making the result available for download, with appropriate attribution?
  10. Planning for your Christmas shopping, then?
  11. I could see it being somewhat useful if we had a permanent manned outpost up there, but if and when we ever achieve proper spaceplanes with a useful freight or passenger capacity then there isn't really much to stop us bypassing the Moon altogether and heading straight for Mars and the asteroid belt.
  12. Heh heh heh. Nice! I hadn't thought of Bob as the musical type before, but it works.
  13. Any chance you could put together something for Starfarer 1, from my story The Next Frontier? Link's in my sig.
  14. Not according to the composer. And that is -fluffy- metal!
  15. Always: - Give boosters and the first stage a parachute. (Some day it'll matter.) - Fit capsules with a launch escape system. - Eject with the EVA Parachutes mod rather than hit Revert Flight. (Except for that time it propelled Jeb through the window of the control tower...) Never: - Light off LV-Ns in the atmosphere. - Kill Kerbals on purpose.
  16. I wouldn't worry too much. This is only the first release of the tech tree, SQUAD are probably going to fine-tune it in future releases. I do like the idea of multiple flavours of science points that unlock several items along several different tech trees. Anyone remember a really old game called Alien Legacy? That would be a pretty good example of what I have in mind.
  17. Quoted straight from its eBay listing: So... yeah. Not especially impressive, but for less than three hundred quid including shipping and a copy of Windows 7 thrown in I can't really complain.
  18. I first became aware of the one out by the Space Centre when I caught a glimpse of it as Jeb ejected from another failed jet trainer design. Does that count?
  19. I think that was what shoveycat was hoping for video of. Especially the parts where things go wrong in an amusing way.
  20. For a serious answer? This fanfic explores all these issues in detail and does it very well indeed.
  21. I was going to jokingly suggest dharak1 try that stuff as a fuel, but then it occurred to me that there's probably someone in China selling it whoilesale.
  22. Hmmm. A cogent point. At any rate, I've tried it a couple of times, but the results have generally required so much work to rewrite into something passable that I'd have been better off writing a third as much per day, and that's on the occasions when some unlikely disaster hasn't prevented me from getting anything done at all. Besides, my caffeine tolerance is so high these days that I can't actually drink enough of it to keep myself going for whole weekends at a time anymore.
