  1. I would like to upgrade my aging computer to increase its performance in ksp and gaming overall. Do you have any recommendations for what components would cause the biggest performance boost based on my current system? Here's the specs: Running Windows Vista x64 based Processor- AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core Processor, 2100 Mhz, 3 Core(s), 3 Logical Processor(s) RAM- 4GB Graphics- ATI Radeon HD 3200 Some comments I have received are that both the processor and graphics card are old and possibly leading to bottleneck, especially the graphics card. I don't think RAM is a problem (at least not on KSP). What do you think/recommend?
  2. Rickety [Filler so that the comment is at least 10 characters long >:C]
  3. The goal is simple. Each post counts up one. We need to get to 10 (or as high as possible). If a moderator comments, however, the count must be reset to 0. Allow me to begin. 1
  4. I don't mind all the experiments in Kerbin. They only help. If you want you could simply ignore doing science within the atmosphere of kerbin. The only thing that bothers me with career mode is how it appears to be turning away newcomers. By lacking a tutorial, new players seem to have a little trouble figuring out how to perform early science with what little they are provided. I have observed multiple examples of this in sections of the forum.
  5. Just a few days ago, I sent a mission to do a sundive to collect science. When I got close enough for the scientific equipment to register tests as 'near the sun', I quickly realized that I had forgot to attach any sort of communication device to transmit the data.
  6. After doing basic orbital science at the beginning, I managed to max out the tech tree by launching 3 manned return missions and 1 one-way probe mission. From that point, all I needed to do was a return mission from gilly (It's actually quite easy) to max out the tech tree. In my previous career mode though, I sent a probe mission to duna rather early (before atomic rockets).
  7. Sounds like a very interesting idea. I think I will keep my eye on this thread. Will you be using hyperedit to place any of these crafts? Doing so would make your life a lot easier.
  8. I can get to duna and back, gilly and back, I can land on laythe. Although I have yet to try a laythe return, I feel confident that I can do it if i put in enough effort.
  9. All of these servers are german speaking... Good thing I know how to speak german
  10. I have liked the redesigned landing legs but due to recent events, I now like them a lot more. Earlier today, I was landing a scientific probe on the mun to collect some science. Landing was a piece of cake but I decided that after I sent off all the data from one area, I would try and hop to another area. I soon realized that I was dangerously lacking fuel. After an attempted suicide burn, I ran out of fuel right above the ground travelling straight down at 20 m/s. I expected the entire probe to be destroyed but the reworked landing legs seem to have saved the day. Although 3 of the 4 legs broke, the probe itself was completely intact and was able to complete the mission. Some people complain about the new legs being too flimsy but the shock absorbing suspension might just save a craft.
  11. My apologies but this is really bugging me. It's ascent not accent.
  12. Landing on the mun shouldn't be a huge problem as long as you build your lander wide.
  13. Thank you for reviving a very old post that everyone obviously wanted to see.
  14. By this, I mean that in order to get the science, the experiment would be carried out over a long period of time. For example, would it be possible to have a satellite be mapping Kerbin or any other planet/moon for a long period of time? Then, at the end of the mapping you would obtain a fairly significant amount of science. Obviously, mapping wouldn't be the only experiment of this type. What do you guys think of this?
  15. This is the first time the hell kraken happened to me in 0.22 (2nd time overall). When I EVA'd my kerbal on the mun, the screen went black and the altimeter went berserk the moment the kerbal hit the ground. When I returned to the space center, everything was black and I could do nothing. Quickloading didn't solve the problem either. I ended up deleting my save last time this happened because it messed it up. Because of career mode, though, I don't want to part with my save. What can i do?
  16. Actually, a reactor might be helpful for using ion engines far out in space or for transmitting data which takes a lot of power.
  17. Oh dear, it's still around. This happened to me when I landed a large ship on the moon. As I was getting all 21 kerbals to EVA so I could take a screenshot it happened. This messed up my save . Worst of all, the time I spent trying to eva all 21 kerbals went to waste.
  18. You made the right choice in buying the game. I had watched many KSP videos before I bought the game just like you.
  19. I do suggest that if you don't fully understand career mode, try sandbox. After all, it's how everybody learned the game before career mode was added. In sandbox, it's a bit more trial and error when you are learning. Don't be overwhelmed by the amount of parts you see.
  20. If you really think KSP will be in development up to version 0.99, you are mistaken. That is not the point of the version system. At this rate, it would take many years to be released if KSP had to go to v0.99. My prediction is that KSP will be released before v0.4x if not 0.3x
  21. My only problem with unlocking the skipper first is its description compared to the mainsail. The skipper's description makes a little more sense if you know the one for the mainsail. Other than that, it makes sense.
