  1. That looks like a reasonable budget build. Maybe you could save a few bucks by going with a i5 12400F or by choosing a Ryzen 5600(X) and an AM4 B550 mainboard. It should play every game quite well on Full-HD, excluding raytracing. Obviously its hard to predict how it will fare in 5 years, but im sure it will be good enough for running all games even then, although at reduced graphics.
  2. I think its something purely decorative, not meant for a space craft, especialy with that logo. It looks like a turtle shell, maybe its related to enviromental stuff?
  3. The link doesnt work for me, also cant find the picture on his profile...
  4. https://www.spiegel.de/ausland/ukraine-krieg-antonow-an-225-groesstes-frachtflugzeug-der-welt-in-truemmern-a-20e79138-d06a-4566-ae40-a5c6a19f3fdc A german new website has an interview with one of the polits, including up close fotage of the wreckage. The pilot says that there is no hope in restoring it, only few parts cound be reused. He is very sad and flew it just two month ago, at that time this seemed unthinkable.
  5. Just a random showerthought: Were there ever temperatures (significantly) below the cosmic background radiation other than those created by intelligent life? It takes realy advaced technologies to reach temperatures that low, i cant imagine a natural process that could achive that. Without active cooling everything would just cool to the cosmic background of about 2.7K, right?
  6. If i remember correctly KSP uses multiple threads for different things. E.g. sound would run on one thread, backround simulation on another. But physics is still on a single thread, which will be the limiting factor in most cases.
  7. I started watching the presentation an got to the questions. There is no new stuff there, right? Small details about Raptor 2, fancy animation, back to back refueling (which the change every year or so). I started watching the questions, but they seem boring, too. Any juciy bits there?
  8. The star ship presentation is at 03:00 here, as i have to wake up at 07:00 i wont watch it live. Hopefully i manage to shield myself from spoilers before i have the time for it. BTW: I want to remind some of you of the option to ignore users, helpful if someone isnt directly violating the forum rules but is spewing the same useless nonsense all the time. You can find it here: https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/ignore/
  9. Cant watch the video right now, but this looks very interessting.
  10. I dont think its a big challenge to redesign starship to include a door, the structural bracing needed to savely interupt the rings will simply add a bit of mass, just like the other mechanisms needed for the door. So propably there are some smart engineers currently busy evaluating different door designs to figure out which one adds the least mass while still being usefull.
  11. Are there any hardpoints on S20 they could use for stacking with the chopsticks?
  12. If wind proves to be an issue they could build some (huge) walls. But propably some smart engineers allready ran the numbers and worked out that they will be fine.
  13. From what ive heard the Tonga volcano eruption is classified as a VEI 5, Tambroa was 7. Each point on that scale is a tenfold increase, so likely the effect will be hard to measure.
  14. Does anyone have technical details on those acctuators? How do they work, how are they so precise?
  15. No. The telescope can only image a "ring" of the sky at a given moment, but as it circles around the sun that ring will hit every part of the sky within a year. Scott Manley has more details in his video about the JWST.
  16. Ive heard several times that there are none, thats why the video of the solar panel deployment is the last we will see of the telescope itself.
  17. If it werent for the graph with the planned trajectory i would have been deeply worried by the dropping altitude midflight...
  18. You got that the wrong way. If basic life is everywhere it means the great filter must lie beyond that, increasing the chances its still ahead of us...
  19. https://kerbalx.com/MunbroKerman/Saturn-V-Apollo-11 Its that exact file.
  20. I want a Lego Starship one day, but ill wait for the design to freeze for a few years.
  21. I dont think elon talks about a new engine in terms of specs, he wants to mass-produce it in extremly high numbers (>10000/year) and that likely means redesigning almost all parts with totaly different fabrication technologies. Im not sure if they are currently using additive manufacturing, but that would be the first thing to swap out for massproduction and result in complete redesign of the parts as most other technologies cant produce the complexity.
  22. Keep far away from Userbenchmark, that website is the worst benchmark ive ever heard of, as they are extreme Intel-fanboys and will adjust parameters until their beloved Intel is ahead again. We realy need a good benchmark for KSP. When i upgraded from an i5 3570k@4,2Ghz to an R5 3600 i made my own benchmark for comparsion: I made a new installation of KSP, with all graphics turned down and delta-time to the setting that slows down time instead of loosing accuracy (forgot which direction to pull the slider). There i created a creative save where i put a massive Saturn5 replica i pulled from the internet on the launchpad. Each benchmark would be to launch that rocket straight up (with SAS) and measuring how much real-time it takes for one minute of ingame-time to pass. The results: i5: 5:06 R5: 3:58 with overclocked RAM: 3:46
  23. Isnt that a core design feature of any rocket with a significant mass ratio? Otherwise starship would possibly have a hard time reaching orbit or carry a payload. I cant remember any project other than skylon where fuel tanks arent the outer surface of the rocket.
  24. That extreme of an slowdown sounds like a software-issue. This could be an overloaded system that runs out of ram or a virus that mines cryptocurrency. The best remedy would be to reinstall windows.
