  1. I understand this sentiment fairly well. I have a few alpha games such as Don't Starve, Minecraft, KSP and Project Zomboid. The problem is knowing other stuff is coming, or bugs that annoy you will be fixed. I'm obviously excited for 'what's next' so at times I find myself treating what's there unfairly, or wanting to hold off 'for just a bit longer' because of it. Just watch Squad's Build Fly Dream trailer and then ask yourself why you are playing KSP again. Yeah, the stuff that is coming is gonna be awesome and I'm super stoked. Yes, I'm a little sad that it won't be happening tomorrow. That is the inherent danger of playing the alpha build, it's incomplete and technically speaking you'll always be waiting for it to be updated. On the flip side the end product is likely to be a lot stronger, so you aren't getting nothing out of the deal. I think KSP is a bit like Minecraft. Notch was never terribly forthcoming about what was being worked on or when it would be ready. And the launch of Minecraft? I was there for that, but honestly it was nothing more than a symbolic moment. Some features are still underdeveloped, and we're still getting new ones with each update. I suspect KSP is going to be a lot like that. Seven of my friends have bought and played this game because of a few pictures of what I was doing they saw. I got a few other people to buy it as well who just heard me talking about it. We had a space race for the first program to land on Mun and return (which I won by the way, though I was not the first person to MAKE it to the Mun or even into orbit). Now everything is up in the air! That's what KSP will be about, and you see it in this community. The game's purpose is to be played, not to be won. The end game almost doesn't even matter. Squad could drop off right now and the world will still have been richer for what KSP is now. Let's hope that doesn't happen yet cause I got a crater to put a flag in.
  2. Thanks Stochasty and Cal'Mihe. The technical explanation will certainly help me the most as it is info I can apply to other craft in the future. I'll give this information a go. I take it, then, Cal'Mihe that you are using a Joystick? Follow up question: is that ideal? I have a gamepad I can use, and no lack of disposable income to invest in a joystick. My question is, assuming I absolutely love KSP, is that an investment I should make?
  3. You guys, I'm an ass. Of course I'll do that. Honestly I was so frustrated I didn't even consider that I had modded pieces, and I'm really sorry for not mentioning that. It's the KSPX pack and RW Improved Trusses and Girders. Here's are some screen shots of the bottom and the weight/lift/thrust distribution. Also, I updated the main post with a link to an unmodded file and the two mods used in the regular craft. Thanks for helping me out with this, I'm really sorry to have wasted some of your time Unmodded .craft
  4. I'm completely confused by this, I've literally tried everything I can possibly think of to fix it and no matter what I do, the ship veers to the left during take off. Always the left. High speed, low speed, just rolling with ion engines. I've looked over every piece, I can't find any asymmetry. I've tried moving pieces to adjust weight, etc... but no joy. I even built a custom truss for the wheels, aligning them in default space -before- placing them on the ship to ensure they were absolutely 100% lined up. Nothing. So please, can someone take a look at this? I honestly don't care if it can fly, I just want to know why it can't move forwards ten feet without turning. There's only two possibilities that I can see, I'm and idiot or it's a bug. I'll accept either one, but I have to get a second opinion before I tear my hair out. Craft File Unmodded .craft The original uses KSPX pack and RW Improved Trusses and Girders. The unmodded one has the same problem but no modded pieces.
  5. This post is actually to test my account and make sure it actually works correctly. My activation email gave me a strange message upon clicking the link, "Your account has already been activated, please try signing in." I actually wanted to post something on a dev blog but couldn't figure out how to do it and thus this seems like the best place to test this out. However, despite my nefarious plan I am also new to this game and community. Therefore I'd also like to use this post to say, "Hello, community." I probably will not be terribly active in the forums, but you can bet I'm probably reading and trying to study the information that has been amassed here. I'm not terribly good at the game, I have this habit of building six stage rockets that weigh too much and take FAR too much effort to go into space. I've started taking notes and trying to apply those numbers to build more efficient rockets, and so far no real results have been yielded. I'll keep working on it, and perhaps once I can these behemoths into orbit without using all their fuel, I'll work on the next challenge ... the Mun!
