  1. Completely stumped on why this NASA style orbiter is not working (Career, mostly stock with some tweakscale). During reentry the shuttle is fine till 50,000-45,000 the it snaps upward pointing towards space and spins wildly.
  2. Will Gimbal Auto Trim be updated for 1.0.2 or is it going to be merged with this mod? Having spinning shuttle difficulties when RCS Aid says with trim applied there should be no torque. EDIT: It seems the Tweakscale re-sizing I did for the external fuel tank did not increase the fuel amount in the tank. Probably the cause of the issues with the shuttle. Any way to fix it so everything scales with size. Going from 2.5m to 5m.
  3. The SSMEs did the trick with control, now just need to find the right fuel amount (SRBs are only partially filled) and find a good flight path, max Q is a pain.
  4. Ok thanks for all the info, I'm going to try the SSME mod since the mainsails don't have the gimbal range of the actual Shuttle SSMEs.
  5. I'm trying to build a Shuttle replica (NASA style) and I can't seem to get it to fly straight. Whenever I try to fly it it tips forward immediately. Here is the Shuttle in question: Any help is appreciated.
  6. IDK if anyone has found this but but I was putting together a interplanetary ship in LKO the other day and was using KAS strut endpoints between modules of the craft. Each module was joined by quad docking ports but I decided to add KAS struts just in case. Everything was going smoothly until I was docking my second to last module, The 4 ports on it docked successfully with the module before it but when I had a Kerbal go EVA to link up the struts to reinforce the connection after I linked up the first pair of endpoints the entire ship started shaking violently and eventually was ripped apart. All Kerbals survived however despite a Kerbal that was in an Interstellar mod Science Lab having to do a 20km spacewalk to join up with the rest of the crew in the surviving forward section. Just letting everyone know beware of inter-module struts and to let the authors of the mod know about a bug.
  7. I'm trying to build a spaceplane but have run into a big issue, when I start getting towards Mach 1.75 and higher my craft become increasingly difficult to control and always tries to pitch down. Here is the plane itself: And I have no idea what any of this is but it seems important: So can someone please explain what I'm doing wrong and what the data in the FAR CAS means?
  8. So should I move the fuel tanks closer towards the nose? I plan on sliding the SABREs more forward along the wing and maybe adding some more intakes on the front to increase intake air at higher altitudes. So would these changes help?
  9. Ok so I got a revised model of this SSTO, it can actually get off the ground big milestone for this thing considering yesterday's results. after it flys for a while (quite stable flight and fuel efficient after VTOLs are shut off surprisingly ) the craft back flips at roughly 20,000 , also it loses intake air quickly past 10,000 but that just mean more intakes so no big deal. But with the flipping is that caused by weight shifting in the fuel tanks? And if so how should I distribute the tanks on the craft. Right now there are 4 LFO tanks between the last cabin and the tail. New pics follow Side: Front: Top: Back:
  10. The craft suddenly pitches forward after it gets about a foot off the ground. Also would using the Ferram Aerospace Research Mod be recommended? EDIT: And is this possiblly a bit overkill to build a VTOL SSTO for getting 6 passengers into space (not including pilot and copilot) loosely following the design of the Valkyrie from Avatar?
  11. I need help designing a personnel transport VTOL SSTO using the B9 Aerospace pack. Here are are pics of the vehicle, note that direction of thrust isn't entirely accurate due to me using tilting VTOL engine to lift the craft up. Side: Front: Top: Back: When I try to tack off the vehicle rises slow but after a while while I let it rise enough to maneuver I lose control of the vehicle. Any help is appreciated.
  12. Thanks for the idea I didn't think of that and also it should then be more durable. It will also then be easier for me to make it so you can only dock it one way.
  13. I'm trying to design a new carrier that would be a direct improvement over the Harbinger Class with modular design to be easily repairable and being able to keep adding on to it's length if desired. However I can't get the panels to line up so there is no gaps in the armor. Is there any way to perfectly line up parts (mod, tool, ship file edit, whatever)?
  14. Looks cool, looking forward to the I.S.S. Enterprise, the Mirror Universe story arc is one of my favorites in Star Trek.
