  1. Is it possible to increase the draw distance via this mod? Id like to be able to see a ship go from the ground to the air without disappearing.
  2. What exactly was the objective of that craft? Cool and all, but what's the point of all those little craft if there not being controlled?
  3. There is a documentary about the creater of Ultima. He bought a ride to the ISS on the Soyuz. Brillant flick. At the end they show the inside view when the capsule hits the ground. Oh..my..god. I swear its like a car crash. Doesn't look fun. I know now why each man gets a custom fitted seat. Scary violent impact.
  4. Look into the American pack and NovaPunch. I was able to put a 350 ton payload into orbit easily and the lifter is under 300 parts. And o boy is it pretty. I'll post a pic later on.
  5. Well if were going farther then Mars the craft would be assembled in orbit so weight wouldn't be an issue id think. And the craft would be large like a sub and fairly spacious. The crew quarters would no dout be a centrifuge for artificial gravity. And why not good meals? A plate of roast beef, green beans and mashed potatoes be a good morale boost. That's the thing with sending humans into space. Until we find a way to make a stasis module ( probably a must for anything beyong Mars ) we have to make fairly comfortable space craft. Either that or just find a way to get them out there quicker.
  6. Absolutely submarines are a great analogue for life in a spacecraft, but SuperWeegee is right. Space travel and exploration is amazing, but at the same time its the most terrifying thing I can think of. My worst fear is open water. So I cant possibly imagine the thought of being stuck in a tin can so far away from Earth that it can barely be distinguished from the stars in the background. I don't think Mars One will have to live on Mars indefinably, but atleast the length of the trip to get out there. Although I admit im having a hard time imagining a Martian ascent vehicle. Don't think the LEM would cut it:sticktongue:
  7. I made a great mistake one day. I ventured into the flat earthers forum looking for a laugh. All it did was piss me off. Stay away. Stay far far away. It's pure, uncut insanity over there. And the forums huge. Scary...
  8. Theres nothing really to see. Just magically went from a circular orbit to a very eccentric one. All is well it was just a strange anomaly. I made it to Laythe orbit pretty easily despite being hurled out of the system. Gotta love atmospheres.
  9. I HAD a mothership in a circular retrograde ( **** me ) parking orbit a few Mm outside Laythe's. I started up the game hoping to make the hop over to Laythe to discover the ship shooting back out to almost double Pol's distance...w...t...f...happened? My fuel is untouched. I have been playing with a detached probe landing on another moon since so an SoI change couldn't have affected it. This concerns me. I think im getting bugged out here because I swear I entered Jool's system prograde. I cant remember exactly, but that was a wtf moment for me too. And this tells me that it all could've been from a glitch. Its not all bad.. I guess. Im going to try and correct the orbit at periapsis and see if I can enter the system in the right direction this time. This ever happen to anyone else?
  10. Simply beautiful. Psycix you said they were going to grasshopper land it and splash it into the water? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I have a hard time understand how this thing is going to work in general so im just trying to wrap my head around it. Will they make the rocket come to a stop just above the water pretending as if it was the surface? That's cool I guess, but its not the launch pad. So..the 1.1 stage is the liquid boosters for the Falcon heavy, yes? I cant for the life of me imagine how this thing is going to burn to sub-orbital speeds, turn around before/at apoapsis and go right back. And have the leftover fuel to do it. The only way I can imagine this is if the booster completes an orbit and burns retrograde.
  11. I take it Sputnik has since fallen back to Earth? Or is it still up there?
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the process of repacking the SRB's with solid fuel is a terrifying job.
  13. That quote at the end..was that Jules Verne? 66 years to go from the wright brothers to Apollo. That's amazing. It's less then one human's life span... W..tf happened since 1969. Humans just stop looking up or what?
  14. I avoid major translation. So its really easy. I just take control of both crafts and turn their ports to face eachother and close the distance. It's harder with stations because of their size, but again I just rotate the craft around and line up the ports. It's easy even in the dark. Just keep the prograde marker on the pink Target marker ( takes a little bit of translation ) and slow down the closer you get.
  15. Most people don't even know you can see the Moon during the day. No one looks up anymore.
  16. A rendezvous ( that word is so hard to spell I swear ) will be very hard with a 56km periapsis. The two craft will get shuffled around in the thin atmosphere.
  17. That's awesome. But..what part makes for a hinge?
  18. I just build my towers from the rocket out. Question. Is there a stock way to implement rotatable joints? I'd like to make a launch platform that separates from the rocket and rotates away with a sepatron. Possible?
  19. Lol, sorry guys I figured it was the smart thing to do since we were only five posts in. Thanks Ron gives me some things to try. My issue is that this is a very big mission. Four probes break off the mothership. Two will be diving into Jool's atmosphere. And two landers for Vall and Tylo. The mothership then orbits laythe and sends down a lander/rover/return stage. Now I don't want to control five ships at the same time so I gotta get each one exept the Jool landers into a parking orbit so I only have to worry about one at a time. It's gonna be tough, but ill do what I can with what I got. Thanks fellas.
  20. Whatever mod your using for those boosters ( is it KW? ) should be utilized. I recognise them I just forget what mod. And I remember those SRB's are very week. Stronger boosters will get the job done. If you use KW's most powerful booster you'd have more DV left then you'd know what to do with.
  21. Ah well its something so frivolous I dont care. Thanks so much man. Saves me having to fly steps all the way out to Laythe lol
  22. Well that..really sucks. But I wasn't talking about editing the craft file. The mmu packs themselves. Is there a way to up the thrust?
  23. My craft just left Kerbin's SoI on an absolutely beautiful ballistic trajectory to Jool. But up until now I never realised the importance of a mid course burn trajectory. Because I can't for the life of me correct my orbit so that I get an equatorial orbit around Jool. My ship simply is not in the right spot to begin with. Now I just left the SoI, but I fear even if I wait until an AN/DN node I still will not be able to flatten out my orbit to Jool's plane. So what I'm thinking is I have to burn anti/normal and completely lose my perfect Jool periapsis. Just so my craft can cross Jools orbital plane THEN make the adjustment burn. Problem is..how will I know when my craft is nearing that point? Engineering redux gives me relative inclination, but only the orbits inclination..not the craft itself..I think. That or I flatten the orbit as best I can. ( best I can manage is a periapsis about 15 degrees off Jools equator. Areobrake, then ..circularize? I'm going to laythe so should I level off the orbit before or after circularization? I'm sorry guys I know its a mouthful, but ill take whatever insight I can get. Thanks.
  24. Try putting 350 tons into orbit. Then come back and tell me its the same.
