  1. Please do not revive old threads. Thread closed.
  2. I sent Jertop Kerman out for a bit of EVA gone mad. From Kerbin to Jool, landing on Pol, Bop and finally Vall. Will likely go further at some point, for the fun of it.
  3. Here's a tutorial I made. You can do similar with cubic struts/girders or similar. Edit: More thrust than a mainsail, better ISP. Downside is more parts.
  4. Within the constraints of the challenge it's fair, and pretty much the ultimate winner. Since I don't use mechjeb (which I wasn't aware could be used as a control part) I had to add a probecore, do that and you lose about 600dV.
  5. I guess my entry won't be approved for two reasons, I didn't use mechjeb and my AP shot past 80km (82), didn't bother turning around to fix it. Just want to point out that one could burn fuel already in orbit to improve their score. Similar challenges have been done in the past, with the new thin 1.25m fuel tank and the 48-7S engine things can be slimmed down. With a perfect/mechjeb launch it might be possible to drop the ant/oscar-b tank combo and get to orbit with just the 1.25m tank. To orbit with 0.826 tons
  6. Manned mission to Eeloo and back; 2 kerbal lander with rover (which had 2 surface experiments as well), unmanned probe lander, polar orbit satellite. Edit: Forgot I actually had an album. Swapped solo pic for album.
  7. Fair enough on the showstopper definition. Figured you meant it'd be a definite winner type of thing. Oh and Eeloo doesn't have an atmosphere, so it'd only be Eve, Duna and Laythe. Can't land on Jool last I heard. I had a start on this challenge, I found out that pushing is extremely tedious if you want to go places (and not just do a minor correction). I ended up leaving my 'lander' in Kerbin orbit after a bit of pushing and just went off with my kerbal on his own. So far landed on Pol, gonna do Bop and Vall, then see if I wanna do any more interplanetary adventures. But yeah, pushing a craft is just tedious and more about pure time spent than skill. I'll bow out and just post my EVA adventures in the other challenge. Which to be fair is still mostly about time spent since infinite fuel is toggled.
  8. Yeah I wasn't counting infiniglide to begin with, from what I remembered the lighter than 1T entries were with FAR installed. I had a quick poke just now and 0.826T wasn't too much of a hassle to get into orbit, below that it was a bit iffy (couldn't be bothered keeping at it).
  9. Similar challenge, although only about the Kerbal, not the pod. With a light pod you can push it anywhere and if parachutes are allowed then Laythe, Eve and Duna are no problem. RCS only landing should be viable on Bop, Pol, Gilly and Ike. I'll have to go try but I'd hazard a guess that you might be able to land on Eeloo and Dres with RCS after deorbiting and staying slowed down with your rocketpack. You might have to rethink your showstopper, Tidus Klein.
  10. Possible yes. Here's a manned Duna landing and return mission courtesy of metaphor, utilizing jet + ion engine for Kerbin orbit.
  11. As far as I'm aware Kerbol is a fanmade reference, ingame the sun is named sun. Stuff are named as they are so there won't be confusion, if you continue your argument nothing should be named in english as kerbals don't speak english...
  12. This thread feels like it'd fit better in Mission Reports, simply asking "have you tried this?" doesn't change it into a general discussion thread, there's not much to discuss. Please consider carefully where you place new threads, Rule 2.4 is in effect. Thread moved.
  13. Advanced Search - select Search Titles Only - keyword: debris You should find 115 or so threads, several of them being about posting images. Recent example 1: October 16th Recent example 2: November 3rd One additional even dated back to 2012.. There's also been several challenges on "kessler syndrome" where players compete in debris count.
  14. Had your post actually held any additional information it would've likely been seen as beneficial and thus not resulted in a necrolock, however as you decided to revive a 5 month year old thread just to post a teaser picture necrolock it is. Thread closed.
  15. Please consider carefully where you place new threads, this one was in the wrong subforum. Rule 2.4 is in effect. Thread moved.

  17. They just provide unmanned control. There's heaps of reasons to use a probe instead of a manned module: mass constraints, dangerous situations, duration of mission, size. Those are just a few off the top of my head.

  19. I would suggest removing the deadline alltogether. A lot of challenges take time, not to mention many players can't get enough playtime with such a short constraint. I'll be making an entry myself, hopefully, but I'd still like to point out that an open challenge draws more people and may well continue further if the competetive spirit is sparked by people improving their designs to beat others'. Oh and below 1 ton Mün mission isn't feasible, even a unmanned one takes slightly more than that (if memory serves the current lowest mass to kerbin orbit record is 1.075 tons).
  20. Don't revive old threads, if you can't find a recent thread or one that answers your question just make a new thread. Locked due to evil magic.

  22. After every update that changes surface heights there's always several new threads discussing it. This one however is originally from 2012, so not exactly current. Thread closed.

  24. This has indeed been posted about previously, even though the excitement is understandable it doesn't really warrant multiple threads about the exact same thing. Thread closed. Edit: Ninja'd
  25. First off, you're posting in the wrong subforum. Please consider carefully where you place new threads, Rule 2.4 is in effect. Second, as a new poster you have to wait for moderators to clear your posts, please do not attempt to post several times, instead wait patiently for your thread to appear. Thread moved.
