  2. Loving this mod - using it with "Probe control room" for an immersive experience. One problem, though - my RCS translation controls (IJKL) in IVA (I play with forced) are not working - or responding at all. Can't get translation to work in docking mode either. Anyone else experienced this problem (I realise it may not be this mod causing the issue)?

  4. Just started playing RP0 again, and I'm having a problem - don't know if it's more appropriate for the realism overhaul thread, but here goes: My engines cut off about 30 seconds into each flight. I've got antenna on the vehicle, so the connection should be ok, but it seems like it briefly loses contact, killing the engine, which then of course can't be restarted. It might be another cause though, as the connection stays green, but I can't think of any other reason for it. Anybody got any ideas? Love the mods, btw!
  5. Thanks for the help -that was the problem! The text just stated that there were unresearched requirements, rather than the 100 science limit, which led to my confusion.
  6. I'm loving this mod, but have run into a bit of a snag - I can't seem to unlock the second-gen capsule research node - it says unresearched requirements, even though I've researched all nodes around it. Don't know if its a bug or if I'm doing something wrong - any advice?
  7. I cannot find this mod on CKAN - it doesn't show in the UI and gives an error when using the cmd prompt. Can someone tell me how to install it manually, as I would love to play this!

  10. As Kryten said, jettison is a different motor. I didn't know the abort test had already been done, but I would have thought that an active escape mechanism would have been worth it to save the vehicle, just in case of catastrophic failure of the Delta Heavy. But I'm sure NASA has it reasons - hopefully
  11. Is there any reason why they chose not to have an active escape system - wouldn't it be worth it to save the capsule in case of catastrophic failure of the launch vehicle? That would suck, of course, but at least you'd get data on the escape system.
  12. The Prime home planet in Peter Hamilton's Pandora's Star. Not that the planet itself was all that interesting, more the description of the evolution of the Primes. Did anyone read that? Awesome books, if a bit long.
  13. Just read this on the Guardian. It says Philae will be told to hop. From what I gathered from the Google thing this afternoon, they were considering it, but it seems risky. Does anyone have more info? It wouldn't surprise me if the article is wrong, as it states that Philae "has been resting on its side", which is entirely incorrect.
  14. Does anyone know if the "hop" maneuver is possible with only two legs connecting to the ground? I would have thought there would be a considerable risk of it turning over, at least if there is nothing to compensate.
  15. While we wait, I just read the article about landing site name suggestions. "Fictional characters from films, television shows, literary and musical works were also proposed. Some even referred to the virtual astronauts of the Kerbal Space Program, a popular online space exploration game." Damn shame it didn't end up being called "Jeb's Landing" or somesuch.

Press conference from the NTSB is interesting: While they say they are not drawing any conclusions yet, it seems that the "feather" mechanism may have been the culprit rather than the engine / fuel. The co-pilot apparently unlocked the mechanism before he was supposed to. It deployed. However, no one actually activated it, as after unlocking it has to be activated by the crew.

  18. I'm currently trying to use the MK1 pod for an orbital reentry in RSS, but it keeps overheating and exploding at about 1300 -1400 degrees. Is this correct, or am I missing a config file somewhere? I've tried perigees from 65-90 km, and it's not the g-force. The pod just overheats and explodes. I even tried to offset the CoM slightly, but that didn't seem to work either. Any hints as to what I'm doing wrong? Or do you think its a config file problem? Help appreciated.

  21. I have just gone from refreshing once every 5-10 minutes to refreshing once every 5-10 seconds.
