You know you have too many asteroids tracked when...
quietsamurai98 replied to Deadpangod3's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I immediately thought of this moment from N3 video. Maybe someone else will get a chuckle out of it as well. -
My biggest regret is launching the game executable directly, instead of via Steam. I really want to know how many hours I have wasted not playing the game since I bought it.

If I could give one piece of advice to a new player, it would be this: When you are playing the game, do some googling whenever you are confused about the more scientific stuff. If you play the game without knowing the science, you will get confused and frustrated. For example, say that I read that it takes 4500 ÃŽâ€v to reach orbit. I have no clue what ÃŽâ€v means, but I know I have 4500 units of it. I could either learn what ÃŽâ€v means, or play without comprehending what exactly is going on. I recommend using KSP as a way to learn about rocket science. Dig deeper, learn something new. Sending a hand made craft into space is great, but KSP truely shines when the player knows the science behind the gameplay.

ELI5 Explanation: ÃŽâ€v is change in velocity. The symbol Άdenotes the average change in a variable per one unit, and normally a lowercase v being used as a variable is velocity. In the context of KSP, a craft with 1 ÃŽâ€v can change its velocity by 1 meter per second. In order to change your orbit, you have to change your craft's velocity, and this is where knowing your craft's total ÃŽâ€v is useful. Does that help you out?

I hate that you cannot access major parts of the game in sandbox mode. I would like to be able to start a new save game and have all research completed, all buildings upgraded, and infinite funds. Currently, I have to start a new career save, go into persistent.sfs, give myself 11098 Science and 1000000000 (1 billion is close enough to ∞, right?) Funds, load up the save, upgrade all the buildings, and research the whole tech tree. Does anybody want to make a mod that achieves the same goal as my save editing, or know of a mod for this? Thanks, --Quietsamurai98

I learned that if you put 25 orange tanks on the runway, the runway magically blows up.

Whats the weirdest thing to happen to you?
quietsamurai98 replied to Geo793's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Under some circumstances, parts can move very far away from where they are connected without breaking the connection, before being pulled back by an unknown force. -

[Free For All] 30 sec Altitude Challenge
quietsamurai98 replied to Mars90000000's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
You should put this over on the stock challenge. -
The challenge is simple: reach the highest speed you can before exiting Kerbin SoI. Rules: No debug menu! No mods (however MechJeb, KJR, athsetics mods, and the like are ok). No save editing. Now, to keep it somewhat fair, there will be two scoreboards, so that decoupler drives, kraken drives, etc. can still be shown off, but not overshadow normal rockets. Normal Rockets: 1. Quietsamurai98: 6795.1 m/s Bug-Based Rockets 1. Quietsamurai98: 3010757.1 m/s Proof for my entries (neither are very good, just proof of concept):

Definitely a KSP-like failure. Its so much more horrific when its people, not Kerbals, who are killed
