  1. Small adapter bit

The old soyuz adapters will need to be deprecated in this version, and I forgot to add equivalents to the new soyuz parts, so I have added some generic adapters in 4 colours to fill this role.

    REQUEST!
As we are nearing the release of the VA parts, can I ask or any bugs people are experiencing, so they can be fixed in time for this release?

Thats strange. Most of my embeds were before that change, if i recall. Oh well. Hopefully something like archive.org has them, i never bothered to save them. Discord typically does the dumbest of stuff, so its not really surprising this happened.

I've been guilty of it myself, I will try to stick to imgur (that will never suffer the same fate hahaha... ha... ha.  ...ha)

    I also want some optimization.

Tantares, along with several other part mods, is causing my game to take a significant amount of time to load, possibly more than an hour.

It is literally impossible for me to meaningfully optimise, I'm sorry to tell you (believe me, I would love to).

In most games, 3D models an textures are loaded when required, in blink-of-an-eye intervals when required, you've probably seen this where you go to a new place in a modern game and everything has low-res blurry textures for a moment.
KSP loads everything at once at startup, all at once, in one long process.

@DeadJohn's recommendations are about as good as you will get.

Other way is to prune what you don't need, Tantares is designed so that you can delete each folder inside "Parts", e.g. the "core soyuz" folder, deletes all the soyuz parts.

    Not falling off yet:

question...are there plans for more of the space station-related pieces to get IVAs...  just asking because the lack of a visible IVA for the Mir Core/Zvezda is...rather odd.

    I'll do it for $2,000.

Fun experiment to see if I had improved enough (in my other work) to model the VA capsule, door, and hinge for a bit higher quality.

    Could be a fun project.

FYI the Mir above isnt the Mir i showcased a while back, i completely rebuilt it with the now improved historical knowledge i have.

@Beale Is there possibility for a positional small Mir update? Not a revamp, but a minor overhaul on its features, for example, making so you can allow solar panel tracking to be enabled/disabled. Judging by this diagram, and a few photos of Mir, some of the solar panels don't track the sun, and maybe the suggestion I had for the Acamar solar panels.

Understandable if you don't want to, you did mention that KSP1 had basically been 'dried out'.

    1024px-Mir_diagram.svg.png

They definitely did all have the capability to track the sun as far as I know, and IIRC even the capability to be turned internally manually if needed.
Not sure if any of them lingered fixed for any long time, but wouldn't surprise me, the dorsal solar panel on the core model was for example basically dead weight by the end of the station's life, and producing very little power.

There's somehow no way in the vanilla module to allow tweaking solar panel rotation, so I'd recommend Tweakable Everything too.

@Beale and the larger Tantares community, what fairings do you recommend for the Fregat upper stage on Soyuz lifters? The real name for that rocket is Soyuz-U or Soyuz-FG.

I don't think Tantares includes such an SAF-style fairing. I see a a 1.87m SAF-style Soyuz Hamal fairing that is correctly too small for Fregat, and the next largest fairing is made for Zenit. Have I stupidly overlooked another Tantares fairing?

Freehand shaping the stock-style fairings has not worked well for me. I can make Fregat fit but it looks ugly. That's a critique of my artistic skills not of Tantares. This mod is great!

Maybe some other mod has an appropriate SAF fairing? Or perhaps someone who managed to freehand a stock-style fairing can share a craft file?

Unfortunately never got around for that, you guessed right it's for procedural fairings.

I don't think this is meant to happen. @Beale FYI im using the latest GitHub version.

    That's @Zarbon44's mod Intercolour:

That part (the Energia-M fairing base) included with basic Tantares does not have any variants by default.

    Tantares 26.0 for KSP 1.12.X

    Finally.
The existing (now old) Soyuz parts have not been deprecated, just hidden. All existing craft files should work as normal.
The new Soyuz parts should be 1-1 replacements, identical node placements. The only caveat is that the Service Modules are now more like fuel tanks, the engines are separate parts.

    This Update:
        - Revamped the Soyuz to be prettier.

    Warning:
        - Some parts may have been deprecated. Previous craft built using these parts should still load, but the deprecated parts will appear black, without a texture. I recommend retiring these craft, as deprecated parts will be removed in the next version.

I don't think it'll ever become a thing. KSP2 is a soulless cashgrab made by different developers, and now months after its release still doesn't have any kind of modding support, let alone even a small fraction of the features that were supposed to be included on release. Please, please don't fall into the trap. The game already caused plenty of damage to the KSP modding community before it was even released by putting just about every major mod on hold for over a year. I love Tantares and I don't ever want to see it end. You have made something truly wonderful and unique, and you don't deserve to throw it away for such a game as KSP2.

Couldn't agree more. Was so hyped for KSP2 back in 2019, then 2020. Then 2021. And then 2022... all for it to be a pile of mud thats just got no soul or gameplaly.

I do appreciate the input fellas, but simple fact is I only really have a huge enjoyment (with legs) for games when I enjoy playing them at the same time.
KSP is bled dry, I've done planet packs, parallax, realism, blah blah blah - everything. I don't play it anymore. I'm not going to drop names, but I know for a fact this rings true for many other people who modded the game for years alongside me.

Needs fresh ground and fresh ideas, KSP 2 has had a very rocky start yes, but I like the direction it has taken, the presentation, the atmosphere.
I have faith in the devs, and they're a good bunch of people. If you haven't tried the recent update yet, the performance is really improved in it, and the science update is just around the corner.

    April 6th, 1995

The USSR fell back in 1994 Since then, Mir has been dormant, until the newly-founded Russian Federation permits development on Mir again.

The module is called Cosmos. It begins construction in 1996.

    August 1st, 1999

Word begins to spread that the module is ready, and soon after, it is. A proton rocket gets launched and preforms well. 4 hours later, the Mir crew notices the module and begins preparations to dock with it. After another hour passes, it begins to dock.

It docks to the core module and becomes the newest module to the Mir since Priroda in 1996. It became one of the more primary modules, as it had an integrated science laboratory, as well as crew quarters and better storage.

Hello, are there any planned updates for paralax, eve, scatterer support? or if you know if theres a fork for support?

You would have to raise it with the developers for these, I don't have a clue how those mods change terrain generation / unity layers etc.

Just a quick question, How do you recommend mixing R G B photos? Ik you can use full Colour, I just wanted to do this for effect.

    In photohop you can go

    Channels -> r / g / b

and paste into the individual colour channel for each, then when you return to the regular view, it should be full colour image :)

My prototype is UR-700 using non-toxic Kerosene and LH2/LOX. Originally inspired by Zarbon44's UR-700 variants (kudos to that guy for the repaint and a bunch of cool ideas)
However, I didn't find his original crafting file or full details (because there weren't any)
Therefore, I decided to make my own design based on the available data, well, here it is (and it works).

      Reveal hidden contents

    UR-700-6.png

    UR-700-7.png

    3.png

Also sorry for the poor quality, my RTX 3070 Ti was a RIP and while I'm waiting for warranty service, I built this UR-700 on an integrated 7600X GPU (double pain).
Well, I know that the UR-700 should be in KSP2, but in its current state (low FPS and krakens) and without the Tantares 2.0 mod this is impossible.
So let's develop and improve the UR-700 in the current game now)

By the way, I’m thinking of making a custom absolute TOXIC RD-270M (RIP green ecology) ((based on the RD-0122 model)), which uses Pentaborane (the pentaborane waterfall config is in the folder of the latest version of RO) . And yes, in this case, there will be nuclear engines on the upper stages (as in the Zarbon screenshots), but in LH2/LOX or Methane mode for more thrust.

Pretty incredible job, definitely not a rocket that lends itself to being remade in KSP with all its quirks. Love it!

I wonder if this will be the truly last Tantares major update. Tho we basically have everything we need right now, and anything that tackles 90s > Russian spacecraft should be a separate mod, done by someone else. Tantares suite is one of my must have mods, they are very Lego-esk and fit nicely with everything.
As always im doing my part to share and have fun with this lovely mod.

The last one until the next last one. Love the station!

    Hello Beale

It has been a long time.  Last time I was here was 2021, but I am glad to see this mod is still under development.  One thing I would like to point out, I am not sure if you noticed, but all the Soyuz and LOK fuel tanks are set to crossfeed = false (the vehicle tanks, not the LV tanks.).  This means that while they carry fuel that fuel isn't actually accessible making the part useless.  Well if you empty the fuel in the VAB you can use it for decoration.  This has been the case for several versions now.

This isn't a problem for me, I have gone into all 4 of those tanks and just removed this line from the config.  Since they are still in there, it seems like you haven't noticed?

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure you are aware if you were not already.  I didn't have time to search back through the thread so I hope I am not pointing the same thing out for the 100th time.

    Leszek

Dear god! This was not fun to read! :D
Thanks for flagging this to attention, and apologies if I missed this bug if reported before.

I have released a patched version, all fuelcrossfeed = false has been removed, except for decouplers.

Okay, what about the actual update you disgusting hack fraud?

Yes, sorry for teasing a bunch of fancy new Soyuz rework and then vanishing (though, you can get them right now if you download the latest GitHub branch).
I've bought a new house, started a new job, changed my citizenship, then started a new job again, which tends to make me focus on one hobby or the other (and sad to say KSP lost out this time).

I'm hoping to give y'all the finished Soyuz, and 3MV Venera probe parts in December, but I can't promise nuffin.

Beyond that (and I know I've said this a million times) I'd like to move on to KSP 2 modding after this. Whenever that becomes a thing, if it becomes a thing?
Tantares is nearly 10 years old now, which is very cool! But, I was in my 20s when starting it, and now I'm a flabby middle-aged person, so I'd really like to move onto something a bit fresher :)

I have been playing with this mod since last year and I LOVE it. However, I noticed that you cannot download the latest version of this mod from Spacedock, which I believe is a little inconvenient for a Spacedock user like me. Could you maybe update the version?

The "Raw" version on GitHub has those parts, and they are 99% complete (same for Soyuz). Unfortunately I can't commit to finishing anything right now - life gets in the way!
