  1. Hi Ya'll. Apologies for the ridiculously long time since my last update...University started strangling my life for a while and to be honest still is, so there has been no chance to get anything done on the mod...sad times. However this does not mean that I haven't been really wanting to get back into it, and with my course ending for the summer in mid April, I will have a good 4-Months of no uni to get back tore into Modding. I'd like to thank everyone for understanding the situation and thanks for your messages wishing me good luck. Now to more pressing matters. Texturing. Texturing is the bane of my existence. it is frustrating me that I haven't been able to attain the level of finish on the textures that I want. I am continuing to teach myself how to texture, but its a slow process...so I am officially looking for someone to come aboard who can help me with this mod. I think a duo working on it will really get the pace up. So I'm looking for someone who is comfortable with modelling, so I can spend all my time on texturing. So if you can and are willing to help me out that would be great please message me. This project is very much alive and the goal of modular station modules remains...because well, the treetops just aren't high enough. Regards to you all
  2. It's something that is definitely in the mix, another thing that I could add fairly easily once I've got the first set out. I think it's probably likely some point in development.
  3. I agree on the adapters, I'm thinking of including an array of those, then seeing which ones are used most, work best. They are easy to make so I probably will. +Little Update as of today I've pretty much finished all my modelling (most of the configs too), with the exception of the animated parts, texturing is what is holding me back, i'm up to speed with Normal maps now, so should be some nice grooves and things to give the parts a bit more soul, Now I'm really getting into the nitty gritty of getting my textures to look as good as B9/interstellar, a few guys around the forums have given me some good advice, but it is very much trial and error until I am happy that the textures are perfect. Should be some pictures up soooon guys (sorry you haven't seen anything yet, its kind of a designer complex) but because the tree-tops just aren't high enough I shall endeavour, once I can get that one perfect texture down in photoshop then it will only take me a week or two to get the whole thing together and from there I will probably open it up to a small test, work out the kinks, take on any advice on any glaring oversights and stuff, and then it will be thrown into the big wide world for even more bugs to be found Another update soon, pics next time, I promise In the meantime here is the great grey aerospace mascot, Gandalf the Owl.
  4. Hey guys, just to answer the couple of questions techstepman put up as they are good questions to answer. The solar halo, unfolds into a ring of photovoltaic panels at the top, Im not sure that they will track the sun, but it will be there to serve as a temporary power solution for modules that require power until a proper power generation module can be docked. Heat Shields are something I've been looking at seeing as they are quite simple. To be honest my original list of designed parts included around 60 parts, and there is a lot of stuff there that I'd like to include, for now I think the first release will be the parts in the Original Post plus a couple of 'radial thingies' and hopefully if all goes well my big book of designs can be opened up again.
  5. Hey guys. Quick update, Modelling is going really well, all the 2.5 Meter Parts are done. The 1.25 Meter have a couple of finishing touches, a couple of animated radial parts are just about finished (just polishing the animation) In terms of texturing I'm having to really experiment, Ive been working with some bump mapping and its kind of trial and error as I'd never attempted 3D Texturing before, so its taking a little while to teach myself how to get the maps looking nice and fine. If anyone has any tips or advice for texturing do feel free to contact me. However Once I can get 1 part looking the way I want to the whole lot should just feed off of that. Thanks for all your interest. Another update soon Regards Michael
  6. Hey guys, apologies I've been away from this thread for a few days, I've been spending a few days teaching myself about texturing, so I've been burrowed into photoshop and some tutorials trying to teach myself how to produce great textures, as the models themselves will be quite simple the textures/lighting/animations will be carrying them to an extent. At this point the texturing will use a similar look to B9/LLL/Interstellar sort of stuff, however I would like to create a duplicate pack that uses stock alike textures as well. In regards to the Hardpoints,it will just cylinder that clips into whatever you are attaching it to, the arced/curvy ends are a reference that you use in graphic sketches to say that something is either infinite or doesn't have a designated end. I used it in this just to remind myself that those ends clip through. It will have the slightly rounded edge at the top, but most of the curve will be faked with the texture However thanks to kerb trek for doing a bit of a modelling there, some really nice work. Anyway as I say I am very new to this, and teaching myself how to texture has become my own personal vietnam for now, but the battle draws to a close, only a few little things to cover, the basic models are completed (the cylinders), and I'm working on a couple of animated radial parts that aren't in the sketch. A proper update with some pictures and a look at the first textures is on the way soon but for now I'm on my way back to photoshop. Because the Treetops just aren't High enough. Regards to you all. Mick
  7. I'm not much of a scientist, or an engineer for that matter, by nature and profession I am a designer. I like my aerospace contraptions to look pretty. I like cool moving bits and things that light up, and although in reality my kerbal creations may have the lift of a weighted house brick, or my rockets may have the thrust to weight ratio of an Aircraft carrier being powered by two double-A batteries...I will make sure they look damn pretty as they sit on the launchpad overheating. I really wanted to get involved in a mod, and have been teaching myself little bits and pieces about working in 3D and I have designed the first set of parts I'm going to be working on. The problem: Orange tanks trapped to a yellow RCS tank, maybe a lander can thrown in for good measure. You call this a station module?! Here at Great Grey Aerospace we believe in the sleek, the compact and the customisable, which is why we are introducing the now in development Modular Station Construction pack (MSCP) This pack seeks to allow users to build slimline, well supplied station modules which can be launched into kerbin orbit, and docked together to build a station we can all be proud of. This will be the first of what will hopefully be many packs I develop, please comment, suggest, etc, any advice is greatly appreciated P.S If you would like to get involved with the development of this pack please PM me.
  8. Have You tried installing the reduced textures, I had massive shader problems in KSP on my mac if I installed B9 without them
  9. Yeah, The suggested Kerbal Joint Reinforcement System has really solved all the problems I had, Now the wheels are functioning perfectly well but without being cheaty, I stuck 3 gears on a giant plane and suffered complete disintegration, but with normal sized shuttles and things 3 gears Is working great, The aforementioned goliath of an aircraft coped fine with a single front gear and 3 sets of gears on each wing, so yeah...good times Note: Did notice Scott Manley...Shout-out for Scotland...Woooo
  10. Yeah I've tried ever spider web of struttage that I can think of and I'm still getting the same gymnastic splits from the wheels, I will try adding more gears, but my test craft was nothing more than two delta wings with a cargo bay, an LFO tank and a Sabre M, I wouldn't have thought that would be enough to break 'heavy duty' landing gear...
  11. I keep having a problem with the landing gear, this same thing happens no matter which B9 Gear I use or in what direction or configuration... even when the wheels are strutted to the wing the same issue occurs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEO5LwjqucE&feature=youtu.be I'm sure i'm probably missing something obvious, anyone experienced similar?
  12. ahhhhh, the website is all new and shinnny!
  13. Yeah, i was just browsing steam and that was on the 'featured' page.....and now the KSP server is under maintenance....
