  1. The current KSP program required a mass lunar (or otherwise) transport vehicle. Among that came the requirement of the Advanced Skycrane Module (ASM). Requirements: -Advanced Rover/Transport Vehicle: Lunar Base-1 needed an advanced rover that could double as a transport for 6+ Kerbins across the lunar surface. -Advanced Skycrane: Capable of delivering larger vehicles or modules -Advanced Heat Shield to protect all the components. After hours of work and a successful Kerbin test flight (Classified) the Advanced Trans/Rover which can seat 8 was launched to the lunar surface to support the Kerbin mission. The following is the mission results for the Lunar portion: The ASM and Trans/Rover achieve lunar orbit and begin decent. http://i.imgur.com/c3GFQco.jpg' alt='c3GFQco.jpg'> Main engines fire to slow decent. The new heat shield and engines are discarded as they are not needed on the Mun. The Parachutes are disabled and the Main thrusters on the ASM prepare to fire. ASM thrusters fire and bring the large TransRover to a slow decent, preparing for disconnect. TransRover successfully deposited as the ASM departs the local area crashing approx. 15km away due to low gravity. The TransRover conducts a night mission and then rendezvous with the Lunar base. The crew members of Lunar Base 1 are now able to conduct full scale lunar missions. Follow on mission to UNK Planet is being planned for the unit. The new requirement is now focus on a vehicle to take the unit to another planet or moon.
  2. Indeed here's a preview of my next build launch and mission. Legitimate heat shield and sky crane... much bigger rover/transport... Seats 8. It will be a Mun mission But hopefully will be good enough build to land Eve.http://i.imgur.com/IWMslnI.jpg' alt='IWMslnI.jpg'>
  3. (Initially posted in General, then I found this thread so am reposting here as it is better served here.) Hi Guys, This is my first time posting but I follow the forums and YouTube quite closely in my search for better creations without mods. So I have created a space station with refueling depot, put Sats around Kerbin and the Mun, as well as 2 Mun bases, one is Mobile. For my first manned mission to another planet I wanted to create something new. My first attempt was a small probe to get the fundamentals down. My next goal was to put a satellite in orbit around Kerbin and place a rover on the surface all in one shot, no docking or refueling. After hours of test flights, and tweaking I felt I was ready to go into orbit and leave Kerbin's gravity well. Here my results, I hope you enjoy look forward to posting more often. Initial launch required the biggest engines and lots of them. Switch to nuclear engines Satellite finally detached and operational. Flight vehicle separation and preparing for entering the atmosphere. Chute deployment. As you can see with this configuration I could slow my decent down to 1.1 m/s good enough to not damage the rover. Mission Complete. -Mirage23
  4. I saw that after looking around some more Thanks!
  5. Indeed, the super heating is the issue at that speed, however we are in the realm of plausibility with the latest tests that DARPA has completed. They are done with the current program testing and are beginning a new one.
