  1. It occurs to me that the tweakables feature might be clearer if the option contained "CLS", so for example: "CLS passable" etc. Just having an option "surface passable" does not it very clear what it relates to.
  2. I have just seen this, so thought I would offer my 2cents worth. In then end we decided to deal with the radial attachment stuff fully in config. The basic premise is that if BOTH the radially attached part and the part it is stuck on the outside of are configured to allow it then the joint can be passable, but only if both parts are configured for this. The thinking was that some parts have lots of surface details that intuitively make them look like not the sort of place where Jeb should get out his angle grinder and cut a big hole. Other parts such as the stock fuselage are more plain and you could imagine it being allowed. The focus is on developers who provide new parts providing their own CLS config that reflects what they intended for their parts. This approach has now been adopted by countless part providers and has the advantage that the CLS config is kept up to date when the part author makes changes to their parts. Of course as a player you always have the option of editing the config to suit your needs. As a mod developer I have no desire to get involved with debates about how particular parts should work, but am pleased if a mod I have worked on provides the flexibility for players and part designers to create and play in the way that they want to. Having said all that, I am not sure that the description text for the part in the VAB does mention anything about surface attachment passability. It would probably be helpful for players if it did.
  3. I am interested in that also has the telemetry data onscreen. Notice how the velocity continues to increase throughout the event (although perhaps at a reduced rate) until the dragon shaped object appears to separate when it stays constant. Is this perhaps consistent with the telemetry coming from dragon and showing it coming away as the trunk / second stage disintegrates and the the first stage keeps on trucking?
  4. So my armchair analysis says that the cargo in the trunk came loose and damaged the O2 tank at the top of the second stage. The resulting explosion destroyed the trunk, and so detached the dragon capsule which you can see falling away, and created the oxygen cloud around the top of the rocket. All the while the first stage continues to burn until the range destroys the rocket. Now just have to wait to see what the folks who don;t get to do it from an armchair have to say.....
  5. Status quo? What is that for getting astronauts to ISS - paying the Russians? Surely US congress would not be so daft as to think that was a good long term solution? I suppose the CTS100 now becomes the focus of attention to ensure that it succeeds.
  6. It also makes you wonder how it will be possible maintain crew on ISS now.
  7. I have been keeping mechjeb-dev up to date with CKAN, but will try again. and then head over to the mechjeb thread. thanks
  8. Can I get some advice on attitude control - I am really struggling. I can put a Mk2-1 pod into orbit with some RCS thrusters on it and fuel for them. However it seems impossible to control attitude automatically. If I use Mechjeb to set attitude or the attitude control buttons next to the navball the pod just gets itself into a spin. What gives? I know that the reaction wheels have been weakened, but what can I do to get my craft controllable using RCS? I really do not want to have to manually fly every maneuver node again, spending ages trying to get the craft pointing the right way, that will be very dull, even if it is enhanced realism!
  9. I have got the same. I am using mechjeb, and with that it can't seem to be able to orientate a Mk2-1 pod with extra rcs thrusters on it at all. use the buttons next to the navball to do the same it lumbers around like fat drunkard stranded on his back and is unable to settle on the correct attitude.
  10. Is this a pre-release for KSP1.0.2 or KSP0.90?
  11. Well it sounds like this mod provided a pretty realistic simulation of a journey to Duna in a tiny tin can!
  12. Thanks for this Joe, I am grateful. I have sent you a private message. You have my blessing to take it on.
  13. The reality of my life is that I do not have the time or capacity to support CLS in a way that both it and its userbase deserve. There is so much I want to do with it, but it is pretty obvious that I am struggling even to find time to keep it up to date with KSP releases, let alone improving it and writing other mods that use it which is what I really want to do. So I would be interested to hear from anyone willing to take it on - to love it and care for it in the way that I would like to, but am unable to. Send me a message if you are interested. CP
  14. I have a day off on Thursday. I will try to update all my mods then. Thanks for for patience, and thanks to Papa-Joe for keeping a watching brief on CLS.
  15. I am happy to fix any problems. Does it work or is there a particular problem?
  16. Just checking in to say that I am aware KSP1.0 has been released. If there are any problems with CLS I will get them fixed. As I understand it, CLS is still a relevant mod, and since it has developed an appreciative user-base and is used by other mods too, will be supported going forwards. If there are any compatibility problems with KSP 1.0 please make bug reports with as much details as possible. If there are no problems, I will still do a rebuild and release anyway, but it will not be overnight - life is busy, as it is for everyone! Even better than reporting a bug is proposing a fix and generating a pull request on github. Thanks for the support guys
  17. A difference between and airline and spacex is that spacex is both the operator and manufacturer. Maybe the cost saves start to come once a rocket is a standardized commodity that other launch providers purchase and operate. The maintenance and refurbishment also become commoditised so it could be outsourced to a third party specialist. If stages do start being recovered then there will be more of them hanging around, so perhaps there comes when someone else offers to buy up and operate old ones, or even new ones.
  18. Yes, I suppose so. I have rather lost sight of it, but will update it if folks want it.
  19. I wonder if this sort of idea could be implemented in a modular / configurable way, so that it is possible to define extra feelings / relationship attributes, events that affect these and consequences for various scenarios. That way it is only necessary to provide the framework, and then folks could provide a set of functionality that relates to relationships, someone else a pack on psychology, and someone else provide functionality related to chain of command or rank type stuff. I imagine it a bit like the contract configurator that enables various contract packs to be added. I imagine that there are several different camps around what direction this stuff could be taken in. It would be nice to provide a way of satisfying all possibilities. I have obviously not thought this all through much - I am just shooting out ideas.
  20. Over the last 6/12 months there have been several considered / planned / abandoned projects in this area, however no-one has had the time and commitment to get any of their ideas near to a release. Your project is getting lots of attention because not only has it got loads of good ideas in this area - you are one of the first to actually produce some real code rather than just ideas / research / modelling. You are not stepping on anyone's toes - we are just please you have done the work you have! Be careful with adding such parts to your idea. The problem is that if the brain-scanner or any other part has be capacity to solve all the social problems on the ship, then your mod just gets reduced to a "add this part to win" mod. This is the problem with some of the life support mod stuff - you just need to add more parts to you ship to make the new gameplay feature go away - so all you end up with is a heaver spacecraft and a bigger rocket. Good luck with this stuff, I will be watching this thread closely. Let me know if there is anything I can help with.
