  1. In my experience, a manned asteroid mission is completely feasible. We have landed probes on asteroids before (Deep Impact), after all! Many theories range about going and mining asteroids for precious metals, so I don't see why asteroid landings aren't an eventuality.
  2. To be completely honest, I'd send that probe straight to Mars. Now, I know that you might say that we've already been there and what have you, but it is the most likely place that Humanity has discovered yet that is both able to sustain life (including housing all of the building blocks of life) and is feasible for us to travel to and observe these hypothetical specimens. Mars rocks!
  3. Thanks all! It does really help, and to Specialist290, I've actually tried a rocket design that looked almost exactly like yours O.o Thanks a million!
  4. I've been playing enough that it's starting to invade my dreams. D: I dreamt that there was this rocket-hoverbike thing that I launched and was flying around on Duna. Hmm... Gives me an idea...
  5. Hey gang, try as I might, I can't seem to get any darn 2.5m rockets into any sort of state that will be helpful. Would anyone mind sharing some tips/tricks/info, or simply letting me borrow your rocket designs? I'm trying to get larger landers to the Mun, Minmus, even some that can go to Duna in the future. I would really like some help, mostly because I also have a Kerbal stuck on the Mun right now! Thanks, y'all!
  6. Oh god, we might not have chutes until after our Kerbals are dead?!
  7. Welcome aboard! Do you have a picture of your craft, or better yet, the craft file so the community can offer some suggestions? Unfortunately, I can't help with docking, I've never managed it yet ._.
  8. I had the idea, specifically for Career mode, about having a pre-VAB construction phase where you would plan out the layout for your rocket, similar to how the VAB is now, except it would be in a little mock-up style design with Kerbal rocket scientists discussing it in the background. Or something like that. I think that this "Pre-Construction" phase could add realism (in a sense), because you would actually have to wait a certain amount of time for a rocket to be constructed (but only for like 2 minutes or some such a thing), but in the mean time, you could fly pre-made Stock crafts to pass the time. Discuss! I don't mean for this to be a solid idea.
  9. Laberk ocitsiugnil olitse led olpmeje nu se etse. Gold star for someone who can translate this back to english!
  10. I was considering getting MechJeb simply because it's an autopilot system (and also because Scott Manley uses it ) I just want a couple of questions answered about how it works and what it can do to help, especially with docking because I CANNOT dock. At all. Whenever I try, it ends in sad, sad deaths. Thanks!
  11. I never have any luck with the larger rockets, I usually have to stick with the good old 1.25m size rockets, like my crowning achievement, called the Daedalus Launch Vehicle http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=172251170 I use it to carry various small payloads, like the Aldrin, as well as a test probe and several capsules doing various things. It actually has pretty good orbital capabilities, I haven't stretched it to the limit yet, but I'm fairly certain that it can reach a close planet with ease. It's performed admirably so far
  12. Well, my biggest facepalm moment came earlier today, as a matter of fact. I was moving in for a rendezvous between my Mk-I capsule (with none other than Jeb Kerman at the helm) and a docking probe I launched previously, and everybody knows how tricky unmodded dockings can be sometimes! I drifted too far past the docking port so I overcompensated a bit and decided I would completely fly around and try again, but as I was passing I saw that one of my control surfaces was going to nick the probe... so I pressed the completely wrong RCS thrust button and... slammed into the probe, sending it spinning out of control. But wait, there's more! In a panicked attempt to kill my capsule's rotation, I freaked out and tried pressing frenzied combinations of thrusters, which culminated with me accidentally PRESSING THE SPACEBAR. So... Jeb Kerman was stuck in orbit with nothing but two radial parachutes, a Clamp-o-Tron Jr., and a decoupler to keep him company with absolutely no abort/retrofire capabilities whatsoever. 13. Behold, my fellow Kerbonauts... the Aldrin Munar Lander! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=172245294 This is only my second successful Munar Lander (the first, the Armstrong Munar Lander, was very unfortunately destroyed as i tried to correct its landing position to get a better screenshot of it ), and I named it such to honor Apollo 11 and all the prior missions that made it possible. The Aldrin ML is actually a modified Armstrong ML with a very slightly increased fuel capacity, and I modified it because when the Armstrong landed, it had only ~10 units of liquid fuel out of 400 or such, so I added the upper two tanks to slightly dampen my extreme landing anxiety (it is REALLY scary to land the first few landers especially after most of them have crashed, right?) So, what do y'all think?
  14. R.I.P. Apollo 1, crew of two of NASA's most game-changing astronauts Ed White, Gus Grissom, and rookie Roger Chaffee. Ed White completed america's very first spacewalk (there's some great footage of it) and Gus was NASA's most experienced astronaut up until that point, going in both the Mercury capsules and flying the Gemini pods as well.
  15. Hello, hello, hello! My name is Torg9776. I love space. Everything about it, from the mind-bogglingly huge expanses to the smallest of space rocks that burn and give us pretty fireworks here on Earth. KSP is truly a masterpiece of a game, and I must say that it is my new favorite! I have been playing for a few weeks now at this point, and I can do pretty well for myself... but I do have just one question to start off with: How can I easily have a large reserve of fuel for maneuvering while in orbit? It seems that I can always have enough fuel to get into orbit and come back down again, but that's it. Thank you guys!
