  1. Toss a nuclear charger or two on your station just to keep the light on when the sun goes down if you dont have enough batteries to last the few hours the sun is blocked. Hope eventually they will make the solar panels useful but so far our lights is our main drain on our electricity.
  2. I ended up landing on a spot between the ice and the red area (by choice to see both). I ran 6 parachutes and made it on the first shot. You just have to kill all your side velocity and just touch off. Battery recharge before landing. (Panels got retracted before landing of course) Fairly smooth and flat landing. Just barely touched the RCS tank. Didnt matter thought those parts got disconnected.
  3. 2x on backups. make a quick link to the ksp folder and "zip" your saves folder every day or two.
  4. My experience with docking land vehicles has been...bad. The main problem is the suspension. Once you dock the suspension tends to get "stuck" in the position you docked in so if your vehicle is at a 20% incline once you undock it will remain at a 20% incline. So say the rear tires are in the air.. they will remain in the air and wont come down. I tried making a trailer looking thing for my rover.. yeah no luck.
  5. Add more orange. 7 rockets does it for me and usualy the center one is left with 60-70% fuel by the time i'm in good orbit. This is my space station refueler. The 6 tanks around drop off during launch. The last bottom orange tank gets me 1-2k to my station with fuel to spare, i jettison it to make docking easier, then i use the nuclear engine+rcs thrusters to dock it. At last once i'm docked you see the clamp on the bottom between the remote guidance module and the large orange tank on top? I disconnect from there and leave the orange tank attached on the station and plummet the rest into the planet. (The orange tank on top that leave at the station remains at 100% fuel)
  6. Its a waste of time. To make it worse a tiny little shake in the vessel will throw around your ap and pe around the orbit like mad. IMO you want ~1k difference so you dont have to deal with the ap/pe shake as much. That said having a 1km difference between the ap/pe is less than a .1m/s as far as docking goes.
  7. Now if you just want to increase fuel longevity why not just do the fuel cheat?
  8. I shall give you props by liking the vid. Very nice explanation.
  9. Theres very little stuff to add thats a necessity, currently its all about style. To give you some ideas here is mine. Got a docking ring in the center for large ships, got 3 small docking rings on the sides and top and then the tiny one on the bottom. Then i got what i like to call an observation/traffic tower (kinda like a tower at the air port). Then on the bottom i got immediate living quarters, Then i got fuel storage area. Last night i added about 60k of xenon. Will add few more orange tanks to it eventually. At last ensure you keep your stations open. Theres more docking rings at the end of the fuel storage area. Also if you look closely the area between the orange tanks and the white tanks by the fuel storage is detachable, so as soon as i use up the fuel i'll toss the extra pieces leaving only orange tanks.
  10. Is this thing gone in .21? I flew over that area looking for it for quite a while, no luck finding it.
  11. I'm guessing steam will have achievements as well eventually. Of course achievements are nothing but bragging rights but hey its nice to see "first kerbal on the moon" achievement or whatever they add.
