  1. It amazes me that you manage to reach Mach4.5 before switching, if I stay at Mach3 at 22km for more than 30sec, my craft burns up :/
  2. So with these plane equipped with SABRE. What is typically the maximum altitude/speed you go before switching to closed cycle mode ? Do you you level off flight at high altitude to gain a maximum of speed in breathing mode ? or do you always climb, and simply switch to slosed cycle when there is no air left ? Alos , how do you know how much intake you need ?
  3. Well I still have problems, with my SSTO, I don't like using stock airbrakes, they feel so cheaty :/. I would be really interested if someone could show me a design that can fly for a relatively long duration of time at Mach 3 like the SR71 (by that I mean at least 10 minutes). Now with the heat I have to completely rethinkt my spaceplane ascent profile, because spending too much time accelerating past Mach 2.5 is deadly
  4. Normally, airplane parts have higher tolerance to heat than regular parts. And with a shuttle you should reenter at a shallow angle so that your craft doesn't burn up
  5. Hello, does anyone have a SSTO mk2 size plane that can reenter without burning up ?? my craft here cannot reenter anyway I try ... I've tried very shallow reentries and more aggressive, but even with the very shallow one my carft burns up at 35km even before the flammes effect appear with just 3kPa of dyn pressure :/ The only way I managed to reenter this was by pointing it backwards ! Once it hit 40km it started stalling and doing flips, but it finally reentered without burning up ...
  6. Also , does FAR modifies the thermal properties in any way ? I find it very hard to reenter a spaceplane, the space plane I posted just above cannot reenter ,even at very shallow angles :/. the dyn. pressure is only of 3kPa, and the deceleration is well bellow 1g, yet every time the craft heats up quickly untill the cockpit part explodes :/
  7. Does anyone else FPS drop to to almost 0, when plotting a trajectory that intercept an atmosphere in another SOI ?
  8. Thanks a lot for the update ! I will try it and reports if there is any bugs:)
  9. I have modified my physics.cfg to reverts to 1.0 aero, but now I've installed the the nuFAR dev build. Should I revert my physics.cfg to the game's default ? Or does it not matter ?
  10. Absolutely none of those things have to do with FAR or the aerodynamic model ... Well maybe it is not a good idea to drive at very high speeds on a tiny tricycle landing gear, and has nothing to do with aerodynamics Again nothing to do with aerodynamics, see wheel brakes Well that's what happens when you have an heavy aircraft with tiny wings, it would be even worse without far beacuse of lack of body lift. It only happened once because scott manley clearly overturned and stalled the aircraft. It would be a lot easier to fly if he didn't use the SAS and turned FAR AOA limiter on and/or used a joystick for smoother control. Also, same thing will happens to stock aircraft unless they have massively overpowered SAS Again nothing to do with FAR Otherwise I really like your suggestions and think they should be added. But trying to make a huge booster fly with tiny wings is always going to be a challenge ...
  11. That's a bit harsh, don't you think ? xD I do agree that for a beginner they are not the easiest thing to get. But in the end they can save you a lot of tries and attempts to fly a bad designed plane
  12. I have had the same problem with Xw with some craft , yet it did not seems to make the aircraft uncontrollable. It tried to look up what affects Xw but with not luck. Note that the situation you're simulating : mach5 with sea level air density (1.2) , is almost impossible to reach. Generally if you reach mach 5 you are already at the edge of the atmosphere. If your plane is stable when air density is around 0.1 and at Mach 5, you should be fine. I think it is impossible to have a plane stable for "all speed", that is, all altitude-speed-fuel levels combinations. But it should be possible to design a plane that stays stable under all normal flight conditions it has to go trough to complete its mission.
  13. my kerbin altitude map is all grey , is it normal ? I use lots of other mods like khetane, instellar and MKS ... It's a new carrer save, first scanning satellite I launch.
