  1. First time I ever made it to the Mun. I didn't watch a bunch of tutorials etc I just kept building rockets for days and didn't know how to orbit hahah... I finally accidentally got a Mun fly-by and I was ballsy enough for a landing. Didn't think it through and long story short... I tried to use parachutes to land. Not my brightest moment lmao
  2. Before I knew anything about quick save, orbital mechanics, how to dock, and had not landed on the mun (only minmus) I managed to start a full Duna base with 6 kerbals (originally 1!) and I dropped off at least 6 really heavy land vehicles I call Durry and a second habitation pod and all within 3-25km of the first guy to land there! (would just drive the durry to pick up kerbans and bring them back to base) the impressive part was I knew nothing about quick save or orbital mechanics so I literally flew straight up from KSC every time and once i escaped it's influence I spent forever adjusting the maneuver node in deep space until I got an encounter. That amazes me now that I know how to play and don't even attempt a duna landing without a refuel at a Kerbin or Mun space station.
  3. - No quick saving or loading even when that damn kraken strikes my probe on a slow 5 year orbit towards jool - Kerbal respawning is disabled and thus every kerman is precious and a rescue mission is always planned. Even if it's been a year since he got stranded on Duna.. - After surviving a large amount of missions or extremely dangerous exploration, kerbals are retired and left in Cloud 11 space station, where most ships refuel around kerbin but only retired kerbals can board the station. - Retired kerbals are only brought out of retirement per 3+ kerbal deaths rather then hiring new recruits. (has only happened once thus far, my rockets are incredibly safe!) I try to avoid hiring new recruits unless they have a cool name or great stats. - Debris aren't deleted, I loves me some kessler syndrome. - Failed/stranded in space missions are marked as debris, unless they have kerbals inside. (crewed ships are deleted if they are unrecoverable) - Dumb Kerbals with high amounts of courage are used as pioneers for explorations into other planets/experimental rockets. - Only warp for short travels, travel time of months-years are left to float and checked on every now and then while other missions are focused on until that one gets closer to it's encounter.
  4. Oh also I think physical camera's and telescopes could be added to the VAB for science points by next update. Cameras would be a camera view added and could assist in docking, surface view of eva's similar to Apollo, attached to probes and take pictures of planets and moons for science. Attached to rovers for selfies like curiosity takes The pics would be different then a screenshot (maybe date time HUD with cross hairs visible?) Telescopes would reveal more planets in career mode or maybe provide a more accurate location (ex before the player has telescopes in orbit, distant planets are visible in map view but their orbit path or location will be much less accurate) I know for sure cameras would be easy to add!
  5. So far sounds like everyone agrees on IVA's and a Ringed planet, a lot of great other ideas here too! Keep them coming
  6. 1st person EVA + breathing noise & a HUD inside the visor would be deep
  7. DEAD KERBALS SOUNDS AWESOME, haha I actually have it on all my persistence files for kerbals to permadie and I don't quicksave so lives have been lost...
  8. that sounds fun since I only play stock builds! I haven't dabbled into kethane yet. I also think that sandbox mode research center should be open and instead house a collection of all the science experiments you have done since data is otherwise pointless. You could show off that you've obtained surface readings of Dres!
  9. Im in the same boat as you guys, the prices don't seem that bad at least for that engine or control panel! But im a broke full time college student so I need to get a car first haha
  10. Tis' almost tha season for a new Kerbal update! To get the gifts we want we need to agree on what we want. Post any improvements, clarifications, or elements that you think can reasonably be implemented or answered by the time of the yet to be announced update day. I'll start, I wish taking surface samples was not instant and had an animation that draws the action out a little like planting a flag. It would add realism and danger! (I had a kerbal get crushed by a larger stages debris that deorbited behind him while he was planting a flag )
  11. http://gizmodo.com/heres-your-chance-to-own-a-piece-of-the-space-race-1468623330 (for full article) there is even a Saturn V Rocket Engine from the Apollo missions
  12. Alright im sending Jeb out to work on this. ps RIP to the 3 kerbals that just died in a terrible space station accident
  13. This is from my sandbox save file "Reality" where I don't quicksave, kerbals permanently die, and I don't delete any debris (failed unrecoverable missions are also turned into debris so there are less flights in progress) RIP to Bill, I attempted to send him and a crew to Dres which I didn't discover was incredibly small until they got there.... couldn't deorbit to it and now they float endlessly simply labelled as debris.. UPDATE: kerbal won't let me take screenshots! I want to show you guys theres 157 debris and the majority are orbiting kerbin, its actually ridiculous because there isn't a "clean" side my planet has a full ring of debris. When I orbit any thing you are guaranteed to see 3-7 debris orbiting close by within 10-50 km! If I fix my screenshot taking powers I'll be so happy to post pictures of my dirty planets debri rings.
  14. Recently my screenshots won't save I think it has to do either with me moving KSP from my windows programs folder to my desktop because I couldn't save my edit to the persistent file while in programs and craft files of ships I build aren't easily found when there either. I checked my settings and F1 is still mapped to screenshot and a copy of my whole KSP folder is on a flash drive I take to my college (the computers there can run the game at all max settings and dock high part counts without a drop of lag! ) but anyways screenshots work on the flash drive at school, but not on my laptop at home anybody know a solution?
  15. I hate Dres!! I don't quick save or delete any debris or failed missions on my "Reality" save file so I built a "sled" that basically had a 1440 tank on either side and then 3 atomic engines behind each one.. then I docked this lander I made that can land in atmosphere or Mun etc, THEN I sent Bill, Gerble, & Caldin up in my main ship (capable of Eve or Duna with much more fuel left) and I docked that to the lander which was docked to the sled.. then I filled all the tanks to max (about 5-6000 liquid fuel) and had the sled carry them to a Dres interaction.. undocked and the ship got an encounter... I didn't know that it was impossibly small and not strong enough to pull me in. I came in way to fast and couldn't manage to retro to at least an orbit. Now those three are stuck floating around deep space with no fuel so I just renamed it to debris so im not reminded everytime I visit the space center. It sucks because I retire them after a certain number of missions and let them stay in my space station forever.. after 5 successful Mun missions and 6 Minmus missions to deactivate old landers and rescue landers I decided Bill could retire but accidentily sent him up in the lander.... RIP Bill!
