  1. For an 11 month wait, it's not exactly overflowing with new things. A new landing gear and an inflatable heat shield. Yeah, it's nice to have 64-bit support, nice they're on a new game engine, and nice that they're fixing and tweaking stuff, but to me that's just things that should have been done in the .9's. I'm not hyped by 2 parts and making an actual release candidate nearly one year after being released.
  2. The Stage-Only fuel readout is giving numbers for the fuel left on on the entire craft. Entire Craft: 398 Stage Only Readout: 398 Should be 308. This is a completely stock install of 1.05.
  3. But, but, Fallout 4 releases tonight! I need to get sleep sometime this week.
  4. I did not know that. I'll look for that setting. Thanks, RIC!
  5. Quick question: Will 1.1 support dx11? I recently upgraded, and Space Engineers looks superb with dx11.
  6. So heat is changing again. How many more changes to heat/aero/other vital mechanics are we looking at? We have 1.0.5 changes, and I assume 1.1 will have more changes. Then I would think at least one more tweak after that. At what point can I save a .craft file and have it work the same after the next update? Never does not really work for me.
  7. "Be that as it may, we are still looking at quite a mountain to climb with the overhaul. Progress is happening much more steadily now, but the amount of work still left to be done is enormous." 1.1: Not Soon .
  8. Grats, Dan, on being selected for CutOut Fest! Well-deserved recognition. Your animations have always been one of my favorite parts of KSP.
  9. Get well, everybody! Remember, the green men should be inside the game, not working on it.
  10. What I find interesting about the dev notes during this upgrade to Unity 5 is how many times I've seen "original code was a mess that has now been fixed". I have my fingers crossed that there will be a significant performance increase will all of these code rebuilds.
  11. Yes, but if all you're looking for is something to get you down the road, you've got to really wonder if the BMW is worth it. The main difference I've seen comparing Steam machines to a gaming PC is the really crappy hard drive used in the Steam machines, and there is no disc drive. I've been running my current Alienware system for 5 years now (which was the warranty replacement for the XPS system I bought in 2007). I know people like to slag on them, but only in the last 6 months have I encountered games it struggles with. So what I'm trying to figure out is do I trade in that Ford every couple of years, or bite the bullet and get the BMW that will last for 5 (actually 8 years due to the warranty replacement).
  12. My burning question is how it will work on a Steam machine. I could use an upgrade, and am weighing the pros & cons of Steam machine vs. new gaming rig. Since it's literally thousands of dollars difference, I'm eyeing the Steam machines pretty hard.
  13. The bottom attachment point on the 2.5m tank doesn't accept connections. FYI.
  14. Went to Ike, landed and came back, went to transfer fuel and then was reminded that LV-N's don't need oxidizer any more. I'm going to need to send a tanker of liquid fuel so the mission can return.
  15. Sack the person who is responsible for sacking people. Then sack the replacement.
  16. Orbit Kerbin, plant flags on Minmus, use a gravity assist from Mun to get home.
  17. Yes. Rescue missions don't necessarily give you the crew you need. For instance I've now rescued five pilots, but just had to spend 100k so I can have a functioning science lab. Since I like to keep at least two labs, I will be spending over 300k on personnel. Half that price I would consider fair.
  18. While I accustomed to some jitter with the patched conics, it seems to me that this got way worse in 1.04. The navball seems to be fibrillating, and apoapsis/periapsis is all over the place even when there is 10k distance between them. I had a Minmus intercept that fluctuated 400km. My current Mun interception periapsis is 21-36km. I've been away from the forum for a few weeks, so I don't know if this is a known issue with 1.04 or it's just me.
  19. KER here as well. I can see why people like MJ, but it's not my cup of tea.
  20. Do you have docking down yet? That's just as key as figuring out how to get interplanetary. Once you have docking down, and can regularly hit Duna, exploring the rest of the system is just more dv. I would recommend Jool/Val/Layethe as the next targets as they aren't that difficult to reach, and the Jool system looks great. I've over 1500 hours in the game, and still haven't done an Eve or Moho return. Some things are just too much of a pain for me to bother with. Do things that will help you master a skill set. For example, setting up an orbital refinery around Minmus and boosting ore up to it will help you get docking down. Moving the resulting fuel over to Mun will help with transfer orbits. Play all 3 modes as they each have their own strengths and drawbacks. Do crazy stuff just because. Each failure will teach, and each success will spur you on to greater heights!
  21. I nominate Sysiphus as Squad's patron deity. "Whew! We just got 1.0 done. Now to re-write the game for Unity 5!"
  22. My strategy is to upgrade the Astronaut complex first so I can do EVA's. Use the science from EVA's to unlock larger tanks. Upgrade the launchpad, mission control, and the tracking station. Then upgrade the VAB. 30 parts using the FTL-800's will get you return orbits of Mun and Minmus, and a lot of science from EVA reports. Upgrading the VAB is what I consider the transition to mid-game.
  23. I've forgotten landing gear on a Duna mission, and my current bouts of cursing are being caused by forgetting antennas.
