  1. Hi All, I've been getting some slightly odd behaviour when I open KSP. I'm running a pretty heavily modded install, but resources aren't an issue (32GB DDR4 2400Mhz RAM, 8-core hyperthreaded i7-5960X (3Ghz, no overclock), 2x 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 760 Graphics Cards). Like I say, my install is pretty heavily modded, but I don't think that's the root because its inconsistent. Basically, when I open, usually it opens the whole program to the main menu in about 90 seconds - 2 minutes. But occasionally I'll open it and it will barely have loaded anything after 20 minutes. I leave it a couple of hours, re-load and I'm in, in the usual 2 minutes. No changes made, just walking away from the machine or opening a different game for a few hours. Anyone got any ideas about what might be causing it? Thanks
  2. Something slightly odd that I've noticed in VAB. When I mouse over the smelter parts, rather than the normal spinning type-animation, they just expand and keep zooming out until they're off the screen, and don't reappear in their box until I change page. I seem to be able to place them fine, they just animate weirdly.
  3. The new one seems to work like a charm. The old one definitely had something funky going on. I managed to extract it that day but for some reason it ended up with a good 50 layers of "Icon" folders nested within each other, each one a clone of the normal one. It actually ended up with so many layers I had a hard time deleting it because the path was too long.
  4. No, it was literally 2 minutes before I posted. Just tried it again and it worked. Weird, I tried it 4 times before posting and none worked, this time, worked first time.
  5. Not sure why but I can't get this to work. I download the Zip but it keeps telling me that the Zip is invalid whenever I try to either extract or just open it.
  6. Thanks, that is perfect, exactly what I'm looking for. I did look in the tutorials subforum, but obviously didn't go back far enough.
  7. I'm just getting back into KSP properly and I've modded a bit more than I used to, adding in MKS, IR and Karbonite mods. Anyway, I'm trying to build a MKS base on the Mun, and I get all the stuff I need to send. The problem is that I've always limited myself to orbital stuff before. Anything I sent to land anywhere was always self contained, usually a miner which could mine its fuel to get back to orbit to refuel whatever was orbital. So the problem I'm running into is actually aligning the different landers to each other. I can get them close when I land with the help of mechjeb, but getting them the requisite 4 meters apart and rotated right is proving to be a challenge. I tried to do it with MJ and the translatron feature, but didn't get far with that (I've always been godawful with the translatron). Next idea was a rover that could slide under the MKS component, lift, dock with it, move to where it needed to be and then lower down, but that's giving me trouble too (like I said, I've only ever done ships). So does anyone have any advice on how to actually build these pretty bases I see in pictures? Ideally something text based as my ability to actually hear videos is somewhat limited. Thanks guys.
  8. Sorry its taken me a few days to reply but I just started a new job, so today was the first day I could test this, and it works, so thanks. Its weird though. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all, others it zooms out miles (until the ship vanishes) but a few times its zoomed out further than map view. The star is like half the size you'd normally get in map view.
  9. I would have put this in the support subforum, but as that says that its for unmodded installs, and this doesn't seem to tie to any specific mod, I figured I'd start here. Since 0.24.2 has been released I've been hitting this really weird thing. Its not game breaking, but its kind of annoying. Basically, when I'm flying, almost every time I hit certain altitudes or orbits (about 100k around Kerbin, about 30k around the Mun), the game zooms the camera out. A lot - to the point that I couldn't see a 200 tonne ship. Not even as a single pixel. I can zoom back in fine, but its aggravating because it can take a good 10-15 seconds to zoom back in and I can't figure out what's doing it or how to stop it. Anyone else hit this (and ideally found a solution)?
  10. Great, thanks. For now I'll just uninstall FAR (way too tired to do things the honest way) and I'll look at reinstalling it sometime in the future.
  11. Don't know if its just my PC being buggy, but I've noticed that the Limit to Terminal Velocity function of the ascent guidance isn't working. Just launched a ship. 5k up, so terminal velocity is about 163m/s. Yet MJ has me at 442 and climbing. Anyone experienced this?
  12. I'm running very similar. KSP 0.23.5, MJ Dev 198, though I'm not using FAR. Whenever I try to engage docking autopilot, it will back up a ridiculous amount and half the time the (stock) RCS are putting out such low thrust levels that the only way I know they're on is that my RCS store is dropping. This doesn't seem to be limited to docking, even on manoeuvres the RCS barely seems to contribute. I can make this ship pull a full 180 in about 5 seconds manually, but MJ seems to limit the RCS so much that its taking 30-40 seconds to pull a 30 degree turn. Haven't tried it with Warp Helper, but I have noticed that autowarp is being a bit screwy with things like rendevous autopilot. Once I'm within about 2.5km, auto-warp turns off and won't re-enable, even with like 3 minutes between nodes.
  13. Definitely not fuel imbalance. I tried it again with my favourite heavy hauler (nothing special about it, just an asparagus launcher, I just like it for its reliability). I can get that design to orbit by just turning on SAS and firing the stages until I have to burn to turn the launch trajectory into an orbit. Even if I launch it and do the start of the launch manually, as soon as I turn on the the MJ on and it starts tipping, the higher it is, the faster it tips. Initially I thought it was going for gravity turn (normally when I fly it, I don't start widening my launch trajectory into an orbit until I'm near my launch apoapsis), but it was way too low (if I have it enabled from launch I see it start tipping at 700m and never get above 5k) and the readout still read "vertical ascent".
  14. Haven't got Sarbian's dll (or indeed heard of it), just using standard MJ 2.0.9 with stock parts.
