  1. @ Cripion101 Nassault showed interest in making a short film with this mod, rest assured, if that guy makes a movie with those ships its going to knock your socks off
  2. Updated for .25, lowered the parts count for all 4 launcher, made the staging slightly better, and removed the need to burn the docking ports off of the nuclear engines. Also made a second version of the lander, using the new swept wing (in case the old ones will be among the parts that will be retired).
  3. I've also made a 2 part video featuring this ship on a mission to survey the entire Joolian system Should anyone want to see it here's the 2 part playlist: Hope you people enjoys this
  4. In KSP failures are always epic and thanks for the positive comments
  5. This is my very first video so forgive my noobishness, but I've wanted to do this for a long time (and by long I mean I started this mission in 0.21 and ended it in .235 hehe) A fleet of 8 ships all in all containing a space station, a planetary base, a rover, a SSTO shuttle for Laythe, fuel reserves a Science ship and a LOT of science instruments! The eponymous ship download (as well as several of my other creations) can be found here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51494-The-Agamemnon-%28Exoplanetary-Outpost-Deployment-System%29-D?p=674546#post674546 I hope you guys and gals enjoy this
  6. 19444 (started I had 136) for a mostly complete Joolian Survey, sent a small fleet to Jool with a modular system that landed on every moon and scanned Jool's upper atmosphere... the lander itself netted 5000+ from surface samples (and had one of the science packages), the 5 other science packages gained over 11000 and the rest was from EVA / Crew reports transmissions. My guess is there's roughly 23-25k Science total to be made in the Jool system... but there are some experiments I couldn't do, like Laythe upper atmosphere and Jool lower Atmosphere. I recorded the whole mission... started quite a while ago, I don't play as much as before so it took me several months to complete this... now if I could just bother to edit the raw footage and post a video >.< The science I had before I left for Jool. The science of one science package + the lander with soil / water samples. The science of the 5 remaining science module packages, the rest was provided by the EVA/crew reports transmissions. 7. The plane will take off and self rights, but it has a tendency to lean forward i could not fix, so begin pulling up soon after launch. Ditch the launch SRBs before they run out and fly around, be careful, it is a finicky plane, but spins can be recovered from. Since landing the plane as a whole proved near impossible without destroying the aesthetics, just stage or abort to land the capsule. 8. Rowsdower in the KSP blog (http://kerbaldevteam.tumblr.com/post/74888946036/devnote-tuesdays-the-almost-forgot-to-title-this), asked the readers what would be a good prize for a contest that may or may not have several winners. How about a module (that would have to be useful/meaningful ) designed on the winners wishes, and have his (In game AND/OR real life) name, mentioned in the part description. For example I'd like to have a space telescope module (a la Hubble) or a Fuel Extractor (like a simple version of Kethane, would have to be heavy, cumbersome and extremely electricity hungry) but that would give a purpose to bases on other worlds. These are just examples, feel free to add your own suggestion for a prize you would like to win
  9. @ Galane No modded parts in any of my builds, the point being to allow anyone to use, so it has to be usable in stock, I do use mods like editor extensions, and Select Root, which don't add any modded parts, but that's all. Editor Extensions key bindings: V - Toggle vertical snap X, Shift+X - Increase/Decrease symmetry level Alt+X - Reset symmetry level C, Shift+C - Increase/Decrease angle snap Alt+C - Reset angle snap Alt+R - Toggle radial/surface attachment. For all parts, and when a part is selected, will toggle surface attachment even when that part’s config usually does not allow it Alt+Z - Toggle part clipping (CAUTION: This is a cheat option) Space - When no part is selected, resets camera pitch and heading (straight ahead and level) Tab - Toggles between VAB/SPH editor modes, and toggles launching to runway or launchpad.
  10. Edit: Last update somehow made it (the B model) very unstable (as opposed to finicky), so it had to be reinforced, also staging was fixed a bit, unfortunately that took the parts count up by 36 (to 805 at launch), but now at least its launchable, the user just has to be careful. I haven't bothered editing the A model as the benefits of detachable tanks are limited, and the Minotaur does it more reliably (even though its only 2 orange tanks at a time).
  11. Edit: Modified slightly using tweakables: the decorative Monoprop tanks are empty, added fuel lines from the interplanetary drive tank to the landing rockets and made sure the mainsails can no longer overheat and added 1 nuclear engine.
  12. The Hydra is a highly modular fuel freighter / space tug that can be reconfigured to carry any amount of fuel to any destination. This allows the user to configure a customized freighter by assembling several of the tugs together; they have a very large array of possible configurations, from a single orange tank to however large your computer can handle. This flexibility comes at a cost though, large arrays have to be assembled in orbit, and people not used to multi-docking may find this difficult. The included screenshots show an assembly being done 80 Km above Kirbin. Pros: -Can carry from small(ish) to vast amounts of fuel to any destination. -Highly Modular: can dock itself side to side, as well as end to end -The RCS tank is fully remote controlled, allowing the user to de-orbit the unwanted launch stages. -The Nuclear engines are also remote controlled allowing the user to de-orbit unwanted units. -Keeping some of the launch stage Mainsails allows for very fast insertion into solar orbit. Cons: -Complex assemblies can be difficult to put together in orbit, make sure you are comfortable with multi-docking. -Sluggish attitude control, mostly due to the sheer amount of fuel that is left in the launch stage on top of the payload. -Staging may need to be rearranged, mostly depending on whether the user wants to use partially fueled launch stages for solar orbit insertion. Parts count at launch: 274 Parts count at final Assembly: Variable, depends on the user's desire between payload size and computer performance. The Senior to regular docking port adapter can be removed in the VAB or in orbit. Any unwanted / empty launch stages can be de-orbited by the remote controlled RCS tank. Here we see the RCS tug return to the main craft after de-orbiting the launch stage. Any undesired Nuclear engine can be remote controlled for easy de-orbit. The next images show one of MANY possible configurations, being assembled around a compatible probe carrier. 13. One of my favorite twitch broadcaster, Spootyman (http://www.twitch.tv/spootyman) was kind enough to feature the plane (and other of my creations) on his channel, and even made a Youtube video out of it ( ). So im returning the kindness with a little publicity on his behalf. This plane is a goofy project that, funny enough, Spooty inspired, (he often makes inception jokes) so I created Planeception. Its very easy to fly and use, and when you want to have the plane emerge out of the plane, just stage! Two things should be known: 1- the large plane does not like abrupt braking, and 2, the small plane is very squirrely, so be cautious when landing (parachutes are installed just in case). Here is the Planeception in action The download file. http://www./view/lh3soix1bd5dm1a/Planeception.craft Links to my previous shared projects: The Hydra Class Modular Tug: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/60542-A-fuel-freighter-tug-to-fit-any-need-the-Hydra-Class-Modular-Tug The Desert Rose Duna Base: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50670-The-Desert-Rose-Duna-Base-D The Minotaur X-Light Fuel Tanker: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51994-The-Minotaur-class-X-Light-fuel-launcher-%28with-tank-tug%29 The Tiny Titan Medium Tanker: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51117-The-Tiny-Titan-Medium-Tanker-%284-orange-tanks-to-LKO%29-%29 The Hercules 9 MkIIa and b heavy tankers: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50985-The-Hercules-9-Mk-IIa!-This-puppy-will-bring-about-9-2-orange-tanks-to-a-90KM-orbit! 14. This is my take on the ISS... The Kerbanational Space Station, or the KSS This is more for show then functionality My very first major KSP project, an ISS replica... back when I first bought the game, (and before I knew about parts count), its too laggy to be functional, but I'm proud of it regardless... Took me 72 hours to finish it, did it all in the span of 5 days, needless to say I was TIRED after building this lol. I made this screenshot my mission flag Links to other Shared projects I have created: The Agamemnon (Exoplanetary Outpost Deployment System: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51494-The-Agamemnon-%28Exoplanetary-Outpost-Deployment-System%29-D The Farscape Launchpoint Station: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50344-I-present-to-you-the-Farscape-Launchpoint-Space-Station-%29 The Desert Rose Planetary Base: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50670-The-Desert-Rose-Duna-Base-D The Minotaur X-Light Fuel Tanker: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51994-The-Minotaur-class-X-Light-fuel-launcher-%28with-tank-tug%29 The Tiny Titan Medium Tanker: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51117-The-Tiny-Titan-Medium-Tanker-%284-orange-tanks-to-LKO%29-%29?p=667613#post667613 The Hercules 9 MkIIa and b Heavy Takers: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50985-The-Hercules-9-Mk-IIa!-This-puppy-will-bring-about-9-2-orange-tanks-to-a-90KM-orbit
  15. Addendum: The Megaprojects should not just be dead weight. Once completed they should actively participate in providing the science for the next project by giving science over time. In Example 1% of the total science value of the project over the time it took to complete the project. So if the project cost 100,000 science and 5 years to complete, you get 10,000 science over time every 5 years. - Extra science can be applied to hasten the completion of Megaprojects: This gives the player an incentive to complete mega projects, AND keep exploring all the biomes of all the worlds available once all the rocketry is researched. - Placing the Megaprojects in places OTHER then the Kerbin system gives an added bonus (say 1.1% of the total science value of the project over the time it took to complete the project). So, the afore mentioned example around Duna would generate 11,000 science instead of 10,000 (in the Kerbin system) science over 5 years. This may not seem like a lot but as the projects accumulate... the bonus gets significant, AND it gives further incentive to visit the worlds. - A side reward from the project could be in the form of screenshots: Imagery their megaprojects took (I don't know if displaying this kind of image in game is feasible, but all NASA imagery is public domain as far as I know), either pulled directly from NASA archives or with a KSP twist . - These time scales may seem long... but a round trip to Jool can take 2 years to complete... so the numbers I gave may be too short (or too long, but I doubt that). Also, these numbers may not represent something that would be balanced, but could serve as a foundation.
