  1. Maybe read the OP... A HD4000 does use system RAM and other system resources...
  2. An SSD isn't needed unless you mind the loading times. My Intel i7 3632QM does pretty well, although it does make my laptop a bit hot. 4 GB of DDR3 and a powerful CPU should do the trick. Full specs of my laptop: 8GB DDR3 @1600MHz, i7 3632QM @2.2GHz, Intel HD4000, and a generic HDD that came with the laptop (not gonna look up the details)
  3. I'm just going to guess you're trying to put over 500 tons on those inner decouplers. Around that weight no amount of strutting will keep a booster on
  4. I'd actually like Earth's numbers, I'm using RSS so everything is Earth sized. The lowest orbit I really use (because of remote tech) is 150km, but I'm looking at 10000km orbits as well. Orbital velocity's around 8km/s here, so just dropping down would tear my probes apart and then burn them, not to mention the delta-v needed EDIT: Found this, basically everything I wanted http://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviation_industry/designees_delegations/designee_types/ame/media/Section%20III.4.1.7%20Returning%20from%20Space.pdf just need to work out the drag coefficient of my probes and I should be alright
  5. I have to land it at KSC for two reasons, I don't have proper geostationary satellites yet (don't have the tech), and because it looks cool. I think the first way to start would be by finding an addon that shows your deceleration due to drag

  7. I'm using FAR, and I think you're referring to Mechjeb (which calculates stock aerodynamics). There has to be some way to do it, I know they can get the Soyuz capsules pretty close to a point, and we don't need to deal with wind or turbulence or weather, etc
  8. Part of me thinks this should be in the sciencey subforum... Does anyone know the maths behind reentrys? Calculating heat and pinpoint landings with parachutes, as with RSS coming in from 8km/s tends to be a bit complicated. I basically want to be able to land a 650kg probe at KSC with parachutes and without it being torn apart by the g-forces.
  9. I don't even know if 'my' country has a space program. "TaxiOrbital" (that probably won't make much sense to most). On the other hand, if given the most promising space program, which is China's, I'd probably just continue what they're doing now
  10. It's just somewhat annoying when I see people needlessly bashing them
  11. Why do you hate them so much? Sure they used to be bad, but they really aren't that bad nowadays. Back in the days of the Intel GMA (with the Intel Core 2) were useless, yes, but the current top of the range Intel IGP (HD4000) has worked quite well for me, and the Haswell generation looking to compete with Nvidia and AMD in the midrange market. My laptop has a Intel HD4000 with it's i7, that uses 1.6GB of RAM as VRAM and that's managed to pull 30fps for BF3; Source Engine games at max; Skyrim at medium high with a few beautification mods and draw distance upped; Fallout New Vegas at medium high (it's old but still rather tough); ARMA 2 at medium low (full draw distance); and basically it will make any cross platform game run like it's on a console. I just don't get why people think they're that terrible. Most games need a few tweaks, but it does rather well at games.
  12. If you're not wanting to run BF3 and those big AAA games at full integrated will actually perform alright nowadays. My Intel HD4000 handles just about everything I've thrown at it (BF3 at 30 fps surprisingly) at mediumish. I know that a dedicated card is better, but that doesn't mean integrated graphics are that bad. They used to be though, but the next gen Intel (Haswell) looks like they're gonna compete at the midrange graphics market with some of the newer IGPs. Also the PS4 /technically/ runs an integrated card, but that's not the same
  13. Banned for not having a square avatar
  14. So I've decided to add a few extra mods to my installation, and because of the requirements of a custom tech tree I need to install quite a few packs. Is there a way to remove individual parts from a pack? For instance in Nova Punch I'd only want the 2.5 and 3.75m engines, and none of the tanks or other parts
  15. It's EA. That's all there is to say really. Worst company in the world EDIT: It could be exchange rates. I'm going to guess those are Canadian Dollars (do they even exist?) and Euros.
  16. Ah thanks. I also found that using interstage fairings as adapters works quite well My current version of ksp feels impossible now
  17. Just decided to get RSS as I'd been watching it for a bit and KSP was starting to get too easy. Just that using Realism Overhaul is making almost 80% of my parts useless. Am I missing something or are all the sizes incompatible with stock sizes? Also is there a way to edit configs so that parts are rescaled to the 0.5m/1m/2m/5m scales? Decided to put this here as I'm running a nowhere near stock installation and I need help with a specific mod
  18. Minmus for me, flat surfaces. Also it's quite easy to see everything as well, which is a problem at times with the Mun
  19. I bought a biggish Scarface poster with various quotes from the movie on it, I'll post a pic tomorrow
  20. Shattered Horizon's a pretty good space shooter as far as I can tell (can barely play it on my laptop though)
  21. Three man Eeloo return Apollo style... It took so long, I messed up the ejection burn so I had to make a course correction of 1km/s as well. It failed though, as that course correction meant that I hit the atmosphere at 6km/s and without a breaking rocket. I say it's a success as they landed and returned, just not to the ground. I used Deadly Reentry, and Ioncross life support to make it harder
  22. (I almost feel like I should rant on how you shouldn't be using a mac) Have you tried running it straight after a reboot? As in (close as can be anyway) nothing else is running
  23. Am I right by saying that when going faster than light time would have to be in reverse along with mass? And if so would you not be travelling backwards?
  24. I'm not going to vote for that (don't feel like any deserve it to be honest) but I don't think KSP deserves "best" sci-fi game. It's not really a sci-fi game. I honestly think that the winner should be Eve Online, but again I'm not voting as I haven't played either of the two other options. I just think Eve Online is an amazing idea
