  1. Call me traditional, but I was trying to do this 100% stock career mode with no cheats. @Spricigo all of the connections I have in my structure show me the "Undock" option when I right click on them. This is disappointing news. I'm taking another attempt and trying super hard to line everything up perfectly. I've got one more solid connecting than before. Thanks for all the advice!
  2. I have been trying forever to create a space station in LKO that is essentially a ring construction. It consists of 2 modules - 7 hubs and 12 spokes. Each hub module is a short fuel tank oriented vertically with 6 shorter fuel tanks oriented horizontally and mounted radially (giving you the 60 degree angle between each spoke). Clampotron Sr. docking ports on the ends. Each spoke module is two of the giant fuel tanks with big monopropellant tanks and Clampotrons on each end. The theory is to dock 6 of the spokes (https://imgur.com/WYrndg6)to a central hub (https://imgur.com/vhWLyd8), then dock a hub at the end of a spoke, the just alternate spoke- hub- spoke around the edge to compete the ring. The problem I am having is I can't get the external hubs aligned perfectly (https://imgur.com/LZ6KC5z), and I can only get about 3 external hubs/ spokes assembled before my next module just won't fit. https://imgur.com/gN8dz40 Has anyone else managed something like this and, if so, how did you get everything to align and fit? Thanks for the advice! --------------------------- Trying to add screen shots....
  3. I just started playing 1.2.1. I'm a career-mode junkie, so I'm back to testing stuff on the pad, in-flight and all the simple stuff you start with. I accepted my first rescue-from-kerbin-orbit mission, glad that I get to start building up my team and having fun with rendezvous. I go out to the tracker to sync up my launch and I see the craft on a sub-orbital trajectory with the Mun! It's going to crash in one day, so there's no way that I'll be able to get to it in time. 1) Is this a bug? Why would they give you a contract that you will not be able to fulfill? 2) Is there a way to preview a rescue mission prior to accepting it? I don't want to blow more $$$ and prestige points if I'm going to be given a contract that I can't complete. Thanks for the help!
  4. My biggest challenges are getting the planetary capture and actually designing a vehicle that can get there and back. The maneuver planning tool is so hard to use, I can never tell what direction I'm going to arrive at the planet, or if I'm even going to be able to stop myself, let alone have enough fuel to land the thing. Oh, and you want me to come back to Kerbin as well? I've done 2 missions (both drones) to Duna and only one of them managed to hit its SOI. That one came in so hot that I burned up all my fuel just trying for a capture - and failed at that. I enjoy building modular stations and bases in career mode and have several orbital refueling stations and science centers around Kerbin, Minmus and the Mun. My current challenge is figuring out how to land multiple vehicles in the same location so that I can start really exploring building surface bases on the Mun and Minmus.
  5. @Torih Thanks for the advice - I didn't even notice there was a new update for RT. Downloaded, installed and the only difference I see in my saved file is that I got the interface for the RT config manager after the game fired up. I still can't get the right-click menu on any comm devices and unmanned vehicles function without comms. A new sandbox game behaves the same way, so it's not something in the save file.
  6. I just upgraded KSP to 1.1.2 to try to correct the problem where you can't select anything when you are in the Tracking station (or even exit it, for that matter). That problem was corrected with the KSP upgade, but now I've still got RemoteTech not functioning. I have all of the components of the mod (Connected HUD Element, comm path toggle buttons in menu, red blip on the map for KSC, etc...) but the functionality is not there. I can create an unmanned vehicle in sandbox mode and I get "N/A" in the Connected HUD - it operates just fine with or without an antennae or dish. I can't right-click on an antennae or dish to activate or target the comms. It's as though I don't have the mod installed (even though I am seeing the other artifacts of it). I am at my wits end, here, and am close to bailing on this whole mod Anyone have any ideas of what I should look at, now?
  7. Thanks Stone Blue - this was indeed my problem. I upgraded KSP to 1.1.0, struggled with a few other problems (directory permissions of the install directory), but things are now working correctly!
  8. I am looking for help and being very unsuccessful at the moment. I've downloaded the latest remotetech 1.6.11 and am playing KSP 1.0.5. I've copied the RemoteTech directory, the modulemanager 2.6.21 that comes with the download, the build.txt and mm_license.md files into the KSP GameData directory - just the way I install any other mod. Unfortunately, none of the remotetech functionality is present in the game. I don't get the connection toggle button in the map mode, I don't get the connection status in the main HUD and I don't get the interface to point my antennae anywhere. It is functioning exactly like standard out-of-the-box KSP. If anyone has any idea how to fix this, I would be very thankful, as I've been struggling with this for nearly a week, now, with zero luck. Thanks!!!
  9. I've been busting my brain on how to start out the R & D game on career mode. I've looked around for help on how to start researching things and everyone shows launching rockets or just dumping your command module out on the launch platform. The problem I had was that the command module was not in my list of available parts. Looked around for solutions to this and never found any. Finally, it dawned on me that I have MechJeb2 installed. Not sure how to uninstall it, I did a fresh install of KSP .22 and there was the missing command module! Time to start playing, now!
