  1. Apparently my first post, way back in November 2013, was in the thread "What tickles you most about KSP?"
  2. My cousin ( my age) had Atari, I had Colecovision. I did have a small train set, along with Lego and something called Capsela. I also notice that plastic model kits are nowhere near as common these days.
  3. A simple way to add a first stage without adding height is to put on 2, 4, 6, or 8 radially attached solid boosters. One of my rockets has 36 of them!
  4. I remembered this the hard way too, after separating a satellite and preparing to place it in the proper orbit. Luckily I had engine gimbal but it was still pretty tricking using thrust to rotate without messing up the orbit parameters too much. it took many more maneuvers than it should have.
  5. Ok, so you have a probe core, right? If it's a massive sat, or weak reaction wheels, it can be so slow it's like its not working at all. Beyond that, screenshots and/or .craft file please
  6. Sounds familiar. Whatever they see daddy doing at that age they will fixate on for the next three years or so, until they see what their friends are doing. At that age my son saw me building some shelves at home. This began a three year fascination with all things construction, mainly Bob the Builder, Handy Manny, and even Mike Holmes (whom he wanted to go as one Halloween). Sadly, it passed, leaving us with a small mountain of plastic tools. Hopefully your son's interest will continue to burn as brightly as an S1-SRB. Can we build it? Yes we can! Can we fly it? Hopefully.... Erm, maybe not. Can we fix it? Not when it's scattered across the KSC lawn...
  7. Well, they could slap a nosecone on it while refueling. Just make sure Jeb doesn't stow away inside it.
  8. Ok, so, Space is building a launch facility in Texas. I understand Florida is too far for an F9 booster to land there, but would it be practical for the center core of an F9H to land at the Cape? It would save a lot of flyback.
  9. Stanley wandered the halls of the office but never saw anybody. In fact, nothing moved except a skinny mouse nibbling on something pink sticking out of a supply closet Stanley suddenly realized he was very hungry and went looking for the cafeteria
  10. Most Likley your center of thrust is not in line with your center of mass. Disable the gimbals on the pulling engines, as I've read that they don't steer properly when ahead of the CoM. If it still spins, use the thrust limiter to reduce thrust on the engines on the side away from the direction of spin, I.e. If it's spinning to port, reduce thrust on the starboard side. Edit: having the engines spread out like that will multiply any torque generated by being off center ( greater leverage). You may have to completely shut down an engine Hope that helps!
  11. A shining planet, known as Earth. Just north of the 49th parallel, around 120oW
  12. If you want to see it dance, click the "Wobbly Rockets" link in my sig Edit: And then there was this launch...
  13. Kerbal Submersible Program: Moar Ankors! Go too deep and your sub implodes....
  14. Kerbal Space Tycoon sounds about right. Manage all your factories, both on and off Kerbin, making parts from resources bought from mines in the area. Keep up the parts inventory for your KSP! Heaven forbid your VAB should run out of S1-SRB's, Mainsails, LV-N's or Vernors!
  15. Yep, great for all ages, who doesn't love blowing stuff up! Edit: Woohoo, 500 posts!
  16. *facepalm* doh, wouldn't ya know Edit: NOW I have 500 posts, should've known in here they'd be ghosts
  17. I used a padlock on top of a penny. But I agree, that's the Kerbal Way!
  18. This is my 500th post! For the game I play the most! Of Jeb, Bob, and Bill, I'll never get my fill, Even when they're splattered all over the coast! edit: At least I thought it was. My post count should update soon, I hope....
  19. Sorry, only indecently naked burgers, made up of a conspicuous green substance we scraped off the runway. Now, can I get a milkshake please?
  20. Far too many to count. Just yesterday while launching a 1500+ton behemoth it took three launches to spot the villainous decoupler lurking in the first stage that wasn't supposed to fire until in orbit. That cost 1.5 million plus almost 600k in pad repairs*. Oh, and the first time it froze the game. *At least it would have if I didn't revert. I wouldn't have had enough to fix the pad.
  21. I've gotten 3 at once: Kerbin, solar orbit, and a planet (one of Jool, Duna, or Eve) Edit: I've even managed to turn an 'old' Duna outpost-lander into a new one by docking and undocking it. Imagine my surprise when a contract for a new Ike outpost, accepted long after this outpost was launched, was completed after I landed it on Ike
