  1. I was able to download MM recently, pretty sure it was from a MS / WLE site. That said, I also have a project in mind that requires something more capable, so I’ll be watching this thread…
  2. Explains the desire to try to catch SH on the first launch. Maybe they’ll think about trying to land SS on Kwaj too… That said, cheaper to sacrifice the booster than to lose the booster and GSE too…
  3. The article didn’t say what, but my bet is on optical fibre. Tests on the ISS showed a twenty-fold improvement in performance for space made finer…
  4. No Kraft PB there? That's tops around here, along with homemade...
  5. “Some days you’re the windshield, some days you’re the bug.” - Mark Knopfler Yesterday was a windshield kind of day, but today I felt more like the bug...

  7. Trio? But there was four of them… on one guitar… Ok, I guess the one guy was just doing percussion…. That’s one way to cheat at a guitar duel…
  8. The main problem is that these things are custom hand-made, although there are some standard designs. We need an assembly line for space station modules, similar to how SpaceX is pumping out Starships/SuperHeavies.. Until then the price will always be crazy high.
  9. Thanks for adding the graph. It's been reported that utilities are finding that building new solar PV installations are cheaper than keeping existing coal plants running https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/07/renewables-cheapest-energy-source/#:~:text=The report follows the International, major countries%2C the outlook found.
  10. (Replying directly to the title instead of the OP) Nothing will stop climate change because the climate is always changing one way or another. Reversing global warming will still cause the climate to change the other way. That said, fusion can stop global warming, and so can fission. Detonate enough fusion and fission bombs and we’ll be in a nuclear winter. Still not an ideal result though…
  11. But if it’s produced on an automated production line for long enough, the price per unit will drop like a rock…. The trick is finding enough suckers at $1600 per to pay for the production line…
  12. Buzz Lightyear and Jebediah Kerman figures… And some Aliens to complete the picture…
  13. "Feed me, Seymour!" I'd be tempted to hide some sort of speaker unit in the trash pumpkin (if we had one). We once had a birthday balloon with a cheap recorder/player in it, the trick would be triggering it. Kludge it together with a motion-detector Halloween decoration, maybe...

  16. Not just military outposts, but it’s being considered for arctic settlements (indigenous communities) in general, which can use cogeneration for the heat as well as electricity, replacing diesel power. It can certainly be used to power military installations, but not directly as a weapon to cause damage.
  17. Buy and sell shares in IBM, Apple, and Tesla at the right times. And bitcoin. I wasted time trying to figure out what branch of computers to learn and wound up doing nothing. In hindsight I’d have gone for CAD/CAM and CNC machining
