I seriously dont see why people are so opposed to boats, BOATS CAN FLY (flying boats are a type of aircraft)... if anything allow seaplanes like in the firespitter pack. but for now, try and find extremely crash tolerant parts and use them to make a boat and see how little to do there currently is in the ocean.
  2. Well, i'm certainly for expanding things to do with my minmus colonies but if you add shops and such, it would defeat the purpose of the game and there would be a ton of exploits. and the final blow is... kas isn't official although one of the devs said he would have a look at the mod.
  3. I personally like how minmus is so much easier than the mun... It means I could actually get bases going.. Just tell them about the oberth effect, and that it only really makes a difference in transfer orbit beyond the mun (ie minmus only takes a tiny bit more delta V to reach than mun, rest is 100% easier)
  4. I was thinking, for career mode, maybe it could be possible to put up sattelites and stations etc that give you a steady science/money income. Like for instance a "communication" satellite for a company that, gives you not a single money grap but rather a steady trickle of money until say your old antennas become outdated because you researched new ones through personal exploit. This could be useful if a player gets stuck, as he will only have to wait rather than start all over. And same thing for "patents" (squad said that you could exchange science for money in this way). But as soon as you get past a certain stage in research your trickle stops. and expanding on this guys idea . Maybe be able to put an old used space craft on display in a museum building for "reputation" But again when that craft becomes insignificant (its achievement is dwarfed) then your reputation trickle stops.

This is a good idea, yes there are plenty of mods, and parts already float... but to back this guy up, Ksp is based in some ways on real life (parts,physics etc) and there is a concept of sending submarine probes to europa (ksp laythe) so this is within the range of what might be made in future updates... but don't count on it til squad says so..
  7. Its certainly possible to have a cave, you just make a mesh and place it on the terrain, like a mun arch. maybe it could be "recover technology lost by a previous space agency" that was successful but then flopped. that might be a workaround to the no aliens problem. But ya I LIKE.
  8. Well, squad has said there will never be terraforming... I thought of something similar, but you summed it up. But maybe instead of 1 massive grid, there could be say one for each pole and 4 to cover the other chunks. DEFINITELY HOPE ADMIN SEES THIS.
  9. just put your satellites in a 68 km orbit instead of 70, other than the game will deny you menu, lack of time warp, problem solved. well, I personally would simply like a "that stuff is out dated, take it down" contracts in career once x amount of objects are within y - z orbit altitudes.
  10. Well, for now its only a suggestion, but i'm just happy that my idea's aren't being shot down . Maybe there could be overide code to the "rails" in this case...
  11. I could get away with a way smaller rocket and smaller tech and farm out another planet. use what I call a "double asparagus" probly pretty easy to guess what I mean

That's why you need an ai like a*... ok let me just explain a little more how a* works... you map a grid of points to a surface, either by the script or manual settings, you mark which points can be traversed or not. Then your ai calculates the shortest navigable path (using the points) which it will travel. The ai will go from point to point until it reaches the goal.
  13. One solution to the transition problem would be to add the new system as at first a beta, then an option in the game. And finally have a little update that simply adds a splash saying "the new aerodynamics system is now set to be fully implemented in the next update, practice and get used to it now". maybe add tutorials that explain how to tweak stuff to the new system and other transition stuff. Or simply keep it as an option in the settings
  14. kind-of but more, in the tracking station you can set an ai to pilot a rover to a set location, and you can time warp. to save time and add use to a science rover

Well, other than being able to make an assembly building for rovers(already suggested) except on other bodies than Kerbin, my main thought on how to improve a rover was to add more use for career. I was thinking maybe rovers especially in career could use an a* pathfinding that's mapped to the map view of a planet/moon. This would add use to rovers because then you could set it to go to another biome with the a* as opposed to driving it manually for days, time warp and then go to your rover collect science and set it to the next mission. This I think would give a purpose to a rover in career other than pure asthetics which is a sandbox thing. I'd say to prevent exploits, add time warp to the tracking station and only allow the a* to work from there. In unity squad wouldn't have to make an a* as there is a premade unity version and a free from online. Oh, and for those who don't know a* is a generic term for a certain type of ai pathfinding, its pretty efficient and therefore its pretty popular
  16. Thanks sal_vager. And yes I know, I don't have the gratest machine. The quad core desktop was just to give you guys an idea that it was a good computer (gaming pc) and that it had similar probs. Now I know what multi threading is, didn't know it was the same thing as multi core. WAIT.... sal, where is that text found... is it in the settings config or the save file ?
  17. look.. I know devs/mods have to read every post then approve it, but what is it, something I said that broke a rule? A rule for that matter that I couldn't read because it was in white font over white background when I went through the rules posts ? Look, many posts of mine are in some queue, probably being skipped over for posts newer in the queue. If you manage to read this post and are not a dev/mod this sounds perfectly rediculas.... But please whoever you are reading this off before its approved, just look for my other posts, accept them and then il be perfectly fine with this one being deleted. Thankyou...
  18. I think what he's thinking of is some of those parts that are "a defective docking port" but was found to have some other use could be researched by finding the fault.

Well after playing ksp since late v0.21 on a laptop (2.2ghz duo-core, intel hd graphics) on minimal settings, I have come to a conclusion as to what would guarantee 30 fps instead of 5-10.. 1. if not already implemented multi core support.. sorry for being too lazy to see if the latest updates have it.... 2. and foremost-- less terrain footprint... I see many ways it could possibly be done.. mainly by reducing the fov and have anything outside it not be simulated.. another thing for space and high atmosphere would be to simply decimate vertices that don't add detail (anything except mountains and in some cases large hills/shoreline).. add the option to lower to terrain detail levels at shorter intervals is another little solution To make my point clear, a friend of mine who has a 3.3ghz quad core desktop has just about the exact same problem, just on setting a bit above minimal.. If this has already been suggested, I checked the already posted thread and didn't see it, so sorry. Thankyou for looking at this
  20. lol created a forum account just to ask this question. after i downloaded the mod, unzipped, put all the non read-me//copyright things in the game folder and most annoying of all finding a server.... well i found a server that said that i had connected and the person had a website that said who was connected, and i was there but..... Now that ive connected and it says "handshake received" what do i do ???? i dont auto join a game it auto disconnects me if i create/start up a save.... WHAT DO I DO NOW ??? plz.....
