  1. Alright here's something:

I've been looking for some new plane cockpits to make some fighter jets/spaceplanes with. Would anyone be able to make a new, futuristic-looking cockpit out of stock parts? Bonus points if it doesn't have a lot of drag and/or uses less than 30 parts.

    add your own image too

Oh whoops I was under the assumption that the original image would keep being edited by each person like a game of broken telephone.

    Here's a new image:

I wonder if anyone will be geeky enough to get the joke.

They/we read the thread complaining about the CoT or CoM or attachment nodes not being aligned correctly on the new parts and decided to wait for it to actually work before paying for it. I know I said I'd happily pay for a bucket of algae with a Squad logo on it, but truthfully, it has to at least be of release quality, even if I personally have minimal interest in the actual content.

That aside, the rover amuses me :)  How did you do the paint job? (Or is that part of MH?)

All things considering it's probably not worth 15 bucks, but it's not inherently flawed in any way and it's a great addition to the game. :)

And yes, in MH structural panels can come in different colors: grey, white and gold.

  4. So i've been wondering, if someone was to put together a "universal" or "essential" mods pack, for mods that only ever add to the quality and breadth of the game and are compatible with pretty much everyone's playstyles, what mods do you think would be in this pack? I know it's a pretty wide stroke to paint, but i'm sure there are some mods that could fit in the list.

I think the best "essential" mods would be Kerbal Engineer and TimeControl, followed by slightly slimmed down versions of Firespitter, EVE, NearFuture, InfernalRobotics and OPM, maybe with some B9 in there too.

    What do you think?

  5. -Realistically using your "photo" probably just means your screenshots folder. Which makes sense, since they could use people's screenshots for publicity or to figure out what people are most interested in doing in the game.

-Geolocation is a bit wierd, but given how much T2 has been focused on localization, i can see why they would want to know what countries their users live in to see what languages to add next. If they start figuring out our addresses though, then there's a problem.

-I'm counting the days until someone just makes a mod that stops the "spyware" part of the game from running. I'd give it a month. This community seems pretty good at figuring things out on their own

  6. Yesterday I dreamt up a whole horror game. It took place in this rural ghost town called Purgatory where dozens of people had inflicted or been the victims of terrible sins of some kind. In order to escape the town, you had to find and perform burial rituals on all the inhabitants, while being chased and terrorized by their ghosts or posessed bodies, in order to condemn their spirits to where they belonged.

It wasn't limited to people either. One of the bosses was a pack of ghost wolves (who i'd assume were the victims of some hunting cruelty, i don't know, i didn't think it over in the dream) who you had to hide from while finding each wolf's body and laying it to rest.

  7. Haven't seen a thread like this before. I've had some really cool dreams, i'm sure you have too. Let's hear them.

  8. @panzer1b, after hours of testing pretty much every kind of missile on your SK-IV, i think i can confidently say that ship is near indestructible. Except for rootkiller shots which happen about 5% of the time, the ship can soak up dozens of tons of weaponry which would kill other conventional-armored ships several times over. pretty much any part that collides with it is destroyed, no matter the mass or speed, and the armor just doesn't budge. The only things that showed some signs of success were rooter missiles specifically meant to phase through armor to hit the root part, or strapping a cargo bay to a missile.

When i first started using cargo bay armor i knew its partially-indestructible hitboxes were powerful, but i haven't realised how powerful until now.

It seems clear that until gear weapons work (even then i doubt it'll be enough), armor has greatly surpassed weaponry here.

A mod containing 100000000x scale earth

pfft i'd like someone get to LEO in stock with that

You underestimate the dedication of some people here...

A mod that adds a bunch of no frills basic but essential things that would make the game much better, like:

-adding switchable fighter jet/futuristic (like the old days) textures to the mk1 and mk2 cockpits

-adding 2 stock rotors, one powered and one unpowered

    -adding an electric thermal turbojet

-adding larger solar panels and more powerful ion engines

-adding a small no-hassle nuclear reactor like NASA's proposed Kilopower Project for said ion engines

-adding 2d clouds and rudimentary rayleigh scattering to atmospheric planets

-adding a modified version of the procedurally generated craters algorithm to different planets to add procedurally generated mesas to duna and procedurally generated canyons and mountains to dres and moho (just to make them more interesting)

-also adding a massive mountain like Olympus Mons to duna would be really cool

-adding a faint ring texture to the area around dres where asteroids spawn

-adding larger blue asteroids AKA comets

Recently, I’ve been experimenting with ship mounted railguns. After spending a bit of time getting a prototype working, I fitted one to my latest warship, the MCS-14 Materis, and fired on one of my stations. There were a few problems. Firstly, the recoil forces tore the ship apart.

    [snippity snoo]

That is a beautiful ship. What painting mod did you use? I tried to get DCK to work with no success.

    Also remade some new ships:

Neeson class. 75 parts, 31 tons, 6 heavy missiles.

    D6ilMEh.png

Bullock class. 150 parts, 59 tons, 16 heavy missiles.

  11. Can't speak for 2g SSTOs, but i've recently been trying to make a 3g SSTO:

    H0GJYYE.png

Closest i've gotten was about 700m/s short of orbital velocity with a completely barebones craft. Typically i'd put a nerv or two on a craft like this but it needs thrust more than efficiency. Maybe i could scale it up massively and add a rhino to it, but that'd take away from its tenuous atmospheric thrust to weight ratio. It's brutal.

  12. A game based on the Family Guy meme "pepperidge farm remembers".

-Do you remember when Skillful was the mod of choice for adding guns to KSP? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

-Remember when everyone was so hyped about the rover wheels coming in the 0.19 update? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

-Remember when my everybody was excited about other supposedly revolutionary future games like Star Citizen and No Man's Sky? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
