I'm merely looking for clarity ( for the sake of discussion ). Is this about a mission, or is this about a contract? Certainly not telling anybody how to play or talk about KSP.

I see so many threads concerning ("I've got this mission to do this or whatever"), or ("I have to do this because, I'm on a mission) Wait, is this a self-assigned "mission" (role playing) or a career contract? Shouldn't a distinction be made?

It's in the options, I think "gameplay" Option to automatically hide nav ball, just turn it off.

I retired close to four years ago just about the time I was introduced to KSP. Bought it through the store so there's no accurate record. I've played on the average 6 hours per day, every day. I'm afraid to do the math.

That's the problem right there! You've got your landing gears set to being virtual blocks. Try setting spring strength to about 1.1 and damper to .90 or there about, depends on the weight.
