  1. Just looked it up: 6 Oct 2011. Really doesn't feel like 4 years, but it's incredible how much KSP has grown since those days. I started out in 0.10.4, when Kerbin still had a dark side. Only one active flight at a time, no RCS, no Mün or any other body for that matter. Was Kerbol already a physical body back then? I don't remember anymore. Anyways, those years were a great time and thanks to all the guys here, who make this community such a great place.
  2. It's less of a full cinematic and more a kind of test for different things. First of all I tried setting up GemFX to just get a way more cinematic look and I wonder if you guys like the way I set it up. Secondly I'm using KerbCam again after a long time and I hope you like the shots. It was especially interesting, now that we can easily change the FoV of the in-game camera. I know the editing is a bit choppy, but it really was just a quick job. As a last request: Does anyone here have experience with getting good shots from the insides of crafts? I tried it using the Free IVA mod, but the camera feels weird and it's kinda hard to get good tracking shots with it. Some tips would be appreciated.
  3. Not so much space related stuff I'm afraid, but I hope you'll enjoy it anyways: I shot this one while being out with my buddy one cold night in late autumn. Since then I just love driving somewhere at night and taking pictures of civilization. Another night, a cold and dark november evening with a light mix of snow/rain just coming in. Yet another night picture, this time the moon, shot with a friend's el cheapo telescope. I love grilling for several reasons Captured this one more by accident than anything else, but the colors of that stones mesmerize me. My grandpa has a pretty cool model railway in his basement, but I especially liked this shot with the train only being a background object I'm more of a chocolate guy, but I still like this picture quite a lot. Wow, you were seriously lucky or had a sufficiently convenient lightning storm PS: I hope it's not overkill if I just put them all there without spoiler tags or something
  4. Nice, for me too. But unfortunately I can neither spare the money nor the time to fly to the states for it
  5. This looks awesome. I especially like the lighting effects on the clouds. How did you visualize it in Terragen?
  6. Hey there KSP community, I'm working on a 3 part cinematic in KSP and just uploaded the first one: Enjoy and please tell me what you think about it.
  7. Michael Collins has to be one of my favourite astronauts. Happy birthday, Mike.
  8. First of all: I love your sponsor! Great idea, really! The video itself was pretty good. Just two things: I personally think the camera movement during the jump could have used a bit more dynamic in order to show the great heights and long distances evolved and the bike's safety label was unreadable. Other then that well done.
  9. Oh my, page 4 already. So I tried to get better at texturing and creating photorealistic looking scenes. Here's the outcome: Tell me what you guys think. Do you like it better with some DoF? EDIT: Here's a GIF I made with it:
  10. I remember doing a few little projects with scratch back in high school. Our teacher let us play around with it in the school year's last week, so we really didn't come up with anything serious. Just nonsensical stuff like creating psychedelic colour patterns or letting Scratch play some ball. It was quite funny though. I think I'll have to get into it again, but with some time I'll try to come up with with some interesting things. I really like the project you posted here, even though I experienced a little glitch were the ground detection wouldn't work I somehow managed to take off and get the plane into orbit and back. Really nice work with the atmospheric effects and the aerodynamic simulation.
  11. So I bought a Canon DSLR for my birthday last autumn and this are some of the best pictures I took in late 2013. I took lots of pictures this year, but I haven't got the time to upload any, atm.
  12. A few things came to my mind almost instantly: Because Post Rock is just great for the beauty of space. Just awesome in it's own way. This one could be seen as complimentary to 'Light my Fire'
  13. Last week I was at the ILA in Berlin. It's one of the largest aerospace exhibition of the world. A lot of companies and military forces showed their best and newest technologies to the public. I'd like to know if anyone here on the forum also was there and what you liked best.
  14. Yes, my thoughts exactly. Now I won't have anything to distract me on this date.
  15. Thanks, for the quick response. Cycles really can take ages. I once edited a of some of my friends and just the first 10 seconds took about half an hour to render. Luckilly the rest was just cutting real footage. Your video is pretty neat, though. The tutorial seems to be very helpful and I'd like to try that out sometime tomorrow.
  16. Looks alot like suicide to me. That's not what I call a reasonable response to this thread's development, but who am I to judge. Would you mind to either tell me how you got fire working in cycles or send me a link to a tutorial?
  17. The Last two are Asterix and Obelix, and Lucky Luke. Both franchises are well known in Europe, but seemingly less so in the US.
  18. Michael Collins is one of my most favourite astronauts. He seems to be a pretty funny guy and while reading 'Carrying the fire' I thought his way of writing was very relatable. It seems to have been a very enlightening experience to him.
  19. It seems like ESA has specialized in developing hardware for the manned US space program instead of starting their own. I had the honor to have the aforementioned Ulf Merbold as a guide while writing a scientific paper, so I was able to meet him several times. He flew on STS-9, which was the first mission of the european space lab. I think this was the foundation of the asmerican-european cooperation in space. Now Europe will build Orion's service module. Germany itself was devastated after WW2. We had to rebuild the nation, while it was also split in two seperate nations. The 70s and 80s were mostly ruled by the chancellors Willy Brandt and Helmut Schmidt. They both stood for a new politic. They wanted to ease the tensions between the two German states. A full fletched space program would have sent the wrong signals.
  20. Yes, to each his own is the right translation. I'm not sure though, what he's trying to say. Jedem das seine has some negative affiliations in Germany as it was written over the entry of one of.the concentration camps(I believe it was Auschwitz). I sure hope.you're not a ****, Denny.
  21. The game itself is pretty cool, but the MP is quite buggy. I'm pretty sure though, that it gets better with every update. One thin I'm missing since today is the ability to use small ship parts in large ships. I built a vessel, with quite spacious cabins for a crew of six, but after finishing ship, those cabins seemed so empty, almost like prison cells. I would have loved to build some furniture using the small parts.
  22. I just tested the Agena-Atlas and had no performance issues. Great job, frizzank!
  23. Yes, I looked it up and it was in fact a Wallimex lens. If you look at the moon picture closely you can see some dispersion above and below the moon. I think this tells you something about the lenses quality. I thought about buying the EF 50/1.8, but wasn't sure yet. Your post suggests though, that you can recommend it.
