  1. @Ravenchant: I really like bike chain picture, though all of them are stunning. @Solargamer: Those HDR pictures are beautiful. It really is something I have to look into. All of you gave me lots of inspiration and neat new ideas.
  2. Thank you. It was originally directed towards Dispatcher, but I'd be happy to see pictures from anyone who wants to share them. I'm currently learning alot from a professional photographer I know. I also intend to get a lens with a fixed focal length (dict.cc tells me it's called prime lens) for christmas. EDIT: Don't tell anyone this picture was taken 6 days before christmas in a region where it should normally snow around this time:
  3. Well, I have an on analog cam lying around. My father bought it about 20 years ago and I'm using one of his lenses on my new cam. I doubt though, that I'll have time or a monetary budget for the next couple of months so it's not gonna happen anytime soon. But I have to say it's an appealing idea and when i finally find time (probably this summer, after I finish school) I'll be happy to try it out. Also: Do you have any cool pictures to share?
  4. So exactly a month ago I got a reflex camera for my 18th birthday. I'm still fairly new to this field, but I think I've taken some cool pictures in this month. I shot those two on the first day just to get some experience for later projcts. This one was exposed 30 seconds. A friend of mine borrowed me his telescope. This was taken last night while I was en route to see the Geminids. Here's the rest of the album So now I'd like to know who else has this hobby. What did you do and can you give me some hints on how I can improve my pictures? Share your work and chat about it. -Lordherrmann
  5. I had the honour to meet german astronaut Ulf Merbold, who had the honour of flying into space with John Young: According to this theory I'm one handshake away from John Young and probably two from the rest of the Gemini and Apollo astronauts.
  6. Unfortunately I forget my dreams. I tried to write a dream diary, but I often didn't have the time to write into it after waking up. I will probably try again during christmas break. However if I remember my dreams they are often space related. The other day I somehow had acquired an Apollo spacesuit. It was one of the best dreams I ever had. In another dream I was given the opportunity to fly with the vomit comet. Sometimes I dream really weird stuff. One of the strangest dreams was about a jellyfish invasion. They had learned to float in thin air and were just coming in thousands. That's the stuff I dream about. If I happen to be successful with my dream diary you'll hear from me.
  7. I had the chance to talk to Ulf Merbold, a German astronaut, for an hour. Talking with him about his time aboard the shuttle with John Young might have been one of my coolest conversations ever.
  8. I just realized, I forgot to say that I actually liked the movie. What I wanted to express with my statement about the Orlan space suit is not that it was a bad movie, but rather that it was pretty accurate concerning the use of technology. When the Soyuz' hatch opened I really hoped she would were an Orlan suit for her EVA, as she didn't have acces to any other suit. Most blockbusters would just have ignored the existence of different types of spacesuits.
  9. I just watched the movie. As many said, the orbital mechanics are rubbish, but by reading this thread I already knew it. I decided to try to ignore and just focus on the other parts of the film. What astounded me the most was the use if an Orlan spacesuit. It really showed that there was research done by the makers. As a last thing: Apollo 13 is still the best space flight movie.
  10. I am still deep in the learning process of blender, but I'd be glad to help.
  11. How bout this render I made a few weeks ago in blender:
  12. As The Deep Space Kraken said: Awesome video! Really good work on those Into the wild references and as always great soundtrack.
  13. If you just play with 1 to 3 people working closely together on the same mission timewarp would be no problem. Otherwise multiplayer would be pointless anyway.
  14. On this thursday I will get to know the first non-american astronaut on a NASA-mission. Ulf Merbold!!! My old old german teacher happened to be his cousin and as I currently am writing a scientific paper on the topic of spaceflight, I asked her to ask him if he was interested to help our group. This is gonna be awesome.
  15. Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
  16. Hey guys, after some trying around with different film editing softwares, I just finished a little video I'm very satisfied with. It's more of a practice for bigger projects in the future, so I'm asking for your criticism. It also showcases my new launch tower prototype. Enjoy it:
  17. I started to play around with rendezvous in 0.15. I didn't look at any tutorials and just figured it out myself pretty fast. Once you understood how orbital mechanics work, it really isn't that hard. When the warp clamps mod came out around 0.16, I started building space stations. I also pulled off an Apollo-style mun landing. Since 0.18 docking really is a piece of cake for me.
  18. The answer lies on (or better in) brittle hollow. You have to explore it for a bit to find the answer.
  19. <spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!> In order to land on the quantum moon you need to have a line of sight with it all the time. For some reason it gets interrupt if you enter its sphere. The tick is to shoot a probe at it without letting it pass into it. You take a photograph of it and that's it. You will now be able to land on it. <spoiler over>
