  1. Thanks for the replies. I don't know why I didn't think of that Padishar, I feel like such an idiot but my post was typed before I had to leave for awhile (while running into KSP crash after crash). Claw, I looked toward the end, and it seems there's a lot of out of memory messages with this taking up most of the lines "d3d: VB or IB is null" (starts at line 9,137 and goes to line 852,495). I'll try to reproduce this "disappearing VAB/SPH" alone, but I'm getting all kinds of crashes at different periods.
  2. I was trying to destroy a number of the buildings on KSP and ran into a huge number of problems. First, I could not click on revert flight button (it clicks but does nothing), go to space center (it clicks but does nothing), but I could revert to VAB and when I do, I get something like the attached screenshot. Once that occurs, I'm unable to take screenshots and have to do it with print-screen. The next thing I do results in a crash (save ship, launch, space center, etc). These issues have not occurred to me on other versions of KSP. This one seems unbelievably unstable for me. * KSP 0.25 non steam (32bit, stock, clean install, no modifications, even keyboard controls, re-downloaded twice.) * Windows XP (32 bit) * VAB missing when reverted to VAB * Screenshot (For Reference Only. I didn't get it for the VAB but got it for the SPH): http://2thextreme.org/forum_images/ksp/0.25_Bugs/badsph.jpg (Cant take screenshots using F1) * My KSP_Data/output_log.txt is 18.9 MB (19,832,236 bytes), it would take me forever to upload (my upload is abysmal), and it would hammer my host if I posted it there. If there's a particular thing in there, I can look for it and post bits manually. * AMD FX8120 8-core (4GB RAM - 8 physical), older video drivers. Updating has no effect, and causes issues in other applications when I do. Steps I took: 1. Load KSP. 2. Create new sandbox game. 3. Go to VAB and build rocket to crash into buildings (probe core, biggest ASAS module, the 32 tank (the one half the size of the orange), mainsail, 4 winglets). 4. Destroyed launchpad by flying up, turning retrograde and burying the rocket nose first at 450 m/sec into the launchpad by turning the throttle to 11. 5. Revert to launch. 6. Crash into the tanks near the launchpad. 7. Revert launch. Fail at 3 more attempts to hit other buildings. 8. Revert to VAB. VAB missing, see screenshot above. 9. Exited.
  3. Brought everyone home in my .24 game. Got a corrupt download file in the slow download yesterday. Re-downloaded and watched KSP crash on start (fresh clean install). Watched KSP crash on entering VAB after creating new sandbox game. Crashed a rocket into the VAB (and repaired it) & crashed into the admin building... Awesome effects!... Then had weird visual anomalies in VAB then watched KSP crash. Watched KSP hang with a black screen, and ended task after 10 minutes of no activity. Watched KSP crash on start. Went back to .24 to mess around before starting my loooong drive today to radiation treatment and other places. I'll redownload .25 later after the rush to see if it works...
  4. Tried my first rendezvous & docking. Mission control couldn't remember "what to do next" so Neilstead told them he would try it himself. so he EVA'd and flew the 1.4KM to the "rescue" craft. (Next closest approach was over 180KM). He made it, burned retrograde until he realized he was still on "target" mode. Being his craft was all RCS powered, and his tug was a LVN powered craft, he couldnt dock with it and bring it back. He didn't have enough fuel for a safe return. Thank Kod for this simulation so mission control needs to tweak the craft and learn how to properly rendezvous. I reverted (4 hours, mostly timewarped). I've watched some videos since then and know what I did wrong.
  5. I have a... Well, bad slang word one, and Neilstead occupying my new work-in-progress rover. But the names remind me of a circus for some reason...
  6. All of my flying bombs.... "Rockets" are tested on live creatures in simulation mode until I decide "I like how this works, lets make it real". Until then, I revert.. after testing various aborting procedures for trying to recover landers, rovers, etc. I play sandbox with no mods (less crashing with no mods on my system)...
  7. So I've finally constructed a base/rover design over the course of 2 hours to send to Mun for my 3 stranded guys (Bill, Jeb & Bob). Rough liftoff, but it worked. Easy injection to Mun, didnt bother orbiting Mun and landed within 800m of my stranded guys on the dark side. Minus the excessive crashing every 20 minutes, its done and I'm happy. Seems I cant click the "Reply to thread", I have to use quick replies. Frank Kerman had an idea, catch the first sunrise on the Mun. It will be first of many. "Sunrise over Mun 1"
  8. My biggest KSP fail? Buying KSP. That very action is what led me to prove my own gross incompetence to run a space/demolition program. Its really fun though!
  9. I've only read the first 14 pages of this thread so forgive me if this has been mentioned. For communication to ground, we could use the same procedure as the NOAA Weather satellites used to use, and still have active. Data is sent as an analog audio signal, then is converted into an image using specialized software. These transmissions can be readily picked up by off the shelf components (such as VHF radios & radio scanners). As it stands now, you can receive satellite maps (visible & infrared) of the sky for dirt cheap. NOAA ATP. I was planning on doing this very thing for my weather station and there are plenty of plans, programs, hardware, etc for available for this. As far as sending commands, I have no idea if it could work in reverse.
  10. Random thought from a random player.. Couldn't you use whatever field determines fuel crossfeed and use that?
  11. Also some of the crash logs take up a lot of space, you can save minimal logs in the settings and clear out the crash logs on occasion.
  12. I was finally able to reach another planet, first ever (Duna), so I decided to orbit Duna (100K-105K). Ok cool, lets orbit closer and whiz across the surface... Duna doesn't have an atmosphere does it? Guys? Guys? *solar array breaks off* Mission objective changed to impact mission! Next time, somebody at KSC needs to read some info!
  13. "Everyone" is a strong word.... Sometimes I like to build stuff that is overly huge that fails spectacularly (by design ), as well as smaller stuff. I mix and match the new parts with the old to build all kinds of Kerbal stuff. Even then I use the rockomax 32s and stack them together, they just seem stronger than a stack of jumbo64s. I've used all the other SLS tanks with the old engines with success (and failures, by design as well ). The part I like best about the SLS parts is that when I'm done Kerballing around, I can build some elaborate ship/device and launch it up in one go and not watch a slideshow.
  14. Here's my one and only flag. I presently use it in my saves...
  15. Old school user here too... I'd get the site version, and I paid via paypal. I prefer control over my software and when it updates.
  16. Downloaded here as well. This is exactly why I prefer to keep my media locally as well. I can watch it anytime I want and without the internet!
  17. Didn't read whole thread. tl;dr... IMO... If you paid for the game, you have the right to complain. Personally, I love the new parts. Helps a lot with lag if you can use a handfull of SLS parts to get 90 ton into orbit vs say 200 parts to get the same into orbit... But it is fun to watch a 200+ part behemoth fall apart because of a minor staging malfunction, thank kerbal there's a LES now. Just because parts are available, doesn't mean they have to be used. I just hope an asteroid doesnt destroy one of my orbiting... experiments. I use the old and new parts alike to build all kinds of weird stuff. Also the new update fixed all kinds of stuff and added persistent maneuver nodes. Sure they're still a pain sometimes, but they're less of a pain.
  18. Wow a lot more responses than I expected. Its been like this since the beginning for me and I only have a handful of hours in KSP (maybe 100 max?). I have plenty of things I can re/do in kerbin's SOI because of all my screwups. They were fun and funny, but screwed up from a space program perspective. BTW, when looking at kahlzun's tiny rocket did anyone else right-click to look at it from other angles?
  19. Even though I'm a terrible ksp player I thought about this as well and I think it would make it really fun especially the way you said it. Imagine sending a probe to somewhere, thinking your info is correct only to find out the atmosphere is really only a quarter of what you thought it was... Having this stuff as an option available for sandbox (via a "discover celestial bodies" checkbox) would be great too.
  20. I've scared Jeb with my kerbal kannon. 930m/s, 6km flight into the ocean... Hates the "acceleration", likes the flight, then goes splat...
  21. I find I enjoy reading about KSP and seeing what everyone else is doing with it, more than playing it myself... I could read the forums for hours, then decide to play KSP, do a launch, or a few "experiments" then quit. In and out in 30 minutes. Maybe I've reached a brick wall with my skill, or lack thereof, and lack of patience to try hitting anything outside of Kerbin SOI. I just recently landed my first lander on minmus, which my over-engineered mun rocket made it to minmus. This has been my trend for the last couple months, which makes me wonder... Who else lurks on the forums more than actually pointing the correct end toward space in ksp themselves?
  22. Something tells me we are going to need more filler...
  23. These... Definitely these. I swear that Jebs inventory auditors installed those.. how else does he find all these parts on the side of the road? That "road" must be the runway...
  24. That plane has seen some crap. look at its face... ._.
