Soooo... I've started playing this game again, and... this time, it stuck! I think the thought of "no more major updates" lifted my spirits in regard to it. I think it's safe to say that it's the first time in a little over three years that I like KSP
I still have a couple beefs, sure. I still think Contract Configurator and Strategia are absolutely essential mods for the enjoyment of this game as it was intended, as are EVE, Scatterer and Chatterer. I still think the mission thingie from the DLC is absolute rubbish and a waste of my money. A couple of mods I really liked broke down a few versions a go and never came back, a shame, but the current state of the game doesn't make me need them as badly. And I absolutely ditched KER, KAS, KIS and a few others and, know what? It's perfectly fine, now! And I (probably) never have to think about any of them every breaking again! Wohoo!
You might even see a bit more of me on the forums again.

So, life updates, again?
I think the main thing is, despite my government's efforts on decimating its own population, I'm still alive. That's already a lot to expect in The Year of Our Lord MMXXI, and I'm so happy to see a lot of familiar faces still active here.
I've switched jobs a few times since we last spoke, and as of early this year I've landed on a carreer I've been desiring for quite a while, and am now in a senior position working with data science and machine learning. Still happily married, still happily childless (tho slowly changing my mind), at the moment living at my mother's, but with my own house being built (was already slowly due to budget, and then the whole world fell apart...)
And... I guess that's it. The itch to play the game never came back, tho I haven't lost hope. To the two or three of you that I've on my Steam contacts list of Gtalk (seriously, is that still a thing???), I may not chat with you, but my heart still warms to see you online from time to time. To everyone else, if you ever wanna check if I'm alive, twitter is for the time being my platform of choice, where you can catch up on my very, very low sense of humour and leftist excrementsposts. Or just add me on steam.
I... guess my handle there is "Monstah"...?Here, it's this one: steamcommunity.com/id/monstrimStay alive, everyone. Keep safe. Love!

It's good to hear from you! Take care man, I know from experience that trying to do something you don't have the drive for feels awful. I've been on a hiatus myself for a good half-year now, though I'm hoping I get the drive to come back soon too. Still checking the forums on a daily basis, though old habits never die.
I sent you a friend request! You should see something from a certain HafCoJoe. I'm not sure if we have any other games in common, but there's only one way to find out.
Take care, Monstah.

Been considering re-installing this and seeing where it's at.... but OH GOD the list of games I've bought over the years (since I first played KSP, to be exact) and never played is STILL SO DAMN HUEG.

YOU'RE ALIVE???

Down, down, dog!
Hey, bud! Real life is going through some dark times, so I'm just taking a look around here and reminiscing to escape reality a bit. Cheers!

Hello, everyone. So. Life updates!
I haven't played KSP since last time I saw you. Actually, I uninstalled it for the first time in years. I'll probably take at least a year of time out from it, which is fine considering I'd been playing it almost nonstop for some five years.
I have a new job: I now do BI for a (big) insurance broker (which is opening up for other products). I knew nothing of insurance before this, so I'm doing homework all day long. At first I thought I couldn't access the forum even if I wanted to, but recently I discovered the company has both a Corporate and a Pesonal wi-fi networks, and I can use the Personal without a firewall. That means I might be around here more often that I thought at first (I may not feel the same about the game as I once did, but know this: I miss the forum. You guys are in my heart)
Unlike my previous job, however, I've been busy the whole friggin' day, and I get home tired as hell. I used to moderate from work, now I can barely catch my Feed. Also, I'm now co-worker with a childhood friend, and that's pretty damn awesome.
My wife's employed again, after a year without a job. She's teaching classes at a university! So, between that and my slightly improved paycheck, our household income has increased by some 110%, which is great for our plans of building our new house.
I guess that's it for now! Hope you guys are doing fine.
Just read that there's an 1.4.3 coming up, I'm crossing my fingers you get a product you can call "THE game". 1.3.2 was so close to being it, in my opinion! 1.4.0 was a big let down to me, but I wouldn't have left the forum if not for a combination of factors including changes in my personal life. Even if I never play KSP again, it was a big part of my life, and I think you guys deserve a definitive edition, just like the game itself deserves to be in a worthy shape of a larger market.

So, I'm changing jobs again, stuff is chaotic, I don't know when I'll be able to try out 1.4 or Making History Also I just found out I'm a few months after the cut-out, I could have sworn I was within it!
Oh, well, will probably be worth the purchase.

Holy crap, I thought you were gone! Glad to see an old name again!

As of this very moment, precision in available documentation considered, I'm 33 years of age

Wow!
This part here just blew my mind:
QuoteAccording to a presentation by Burkhard Militzer, it's beginning to look like there may not be a rock-and-metal core at the center of Jupiter. There would have been an Earth-like or super-Earth-like ice-and-rock-and-metal body at the very beginning of Jupiter's formation, but once Jupiter assembled itself to something like its present size, the core may have dissolved and been mixed into the mantle if the stirring of Jupiter's interior was vigorous enough.

Did I ever mention I bought a PS3? Friend of mine needed the money, and I hadn't had a console in ages. My wife just beat the second game in her life (Alien Isolation, the first being the Tomb Raider remake I got from Steam)! And I'm totally addicted to Dark Souls, as I predicted I'd be.

I'm around... -ish.
Now you see me, now you

Hey, everyone! Some may have noticed I've been away. Well, first, I'm OK! Been busy some times, not so busy other times, lurking on the forums eventually, but mostly really offline. Now, the thing is, I will probably stay away for while longer, still. Life stuff happening (nothing to worry about, just... stuff), and not much interest in KSP at the moment.
So... later, everyone! Cheers to all, and hope we meet again sooner than later! Drop me a PM any time, I'll get notifications for those.

Oh, hi! Long time no see, busy these days.
(I'm substituting my manager today. Grumble, grumble.)
Completely unrelated, but it still hasn't sunk in that mankind can presently detect gravity waves.

Most of the RPG blogs I read have just been blocked on my work's firewall.
I wouldn't be so damn angry if I hadn't, in my job interview, asked specifically about the company's browsing policy.

Last night I played KSP on my wife's new laptop, and... HOT DAYUM! Loading times? Less than a minute, Chatterer, cloud textures and all. FPS? Threw in EVE, full-res textures, high-res screen, anti-aliasing, "fantastic" render quality, floor effects... the sucker didn't even notice.
Now, there's two caveats. One, it's her laptop, and she hates me playing KSP. Second, I've hated MacOS for the past.. oh, twenty years? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not a Windows fanboy or anything. I don't think there's a single OS out there that pleases me, but MacOS is just specially arrogant in how it treats us as 3-year-olds.
I do need a new computer, tho. Seriously, I'd never enjoyed myself so much playing this game instead of angrily growling at my computer.

Had to withdraw some Patreon pledges. Sorry guys, hard times

My days at work alternate between insanely busy, and doing absolutely nothing for 8 hours, and both extremes suck. It's the latter today. *grumble*

Buried in work, and with a personal challenge: re-read It in the week before the movie comes out.
See you in a few days, wish me luck.
