  1. very nice! +1 for the KAS hat. +2 if you made your own!
  2. Now to my questions... 1. How would I go about bypassing the "is runway clear" check when coming out of VAB/SPH? 2. Is it possible to edit/overlay the runway texture? 3. How would I go about executing #2 if possible?
  3. Someone answered in your alternate thread, on the node attachment part of your question, likely better than I could. I ran in to the blank white texture issue twice in my short time (I am very new). The first time the cfg was referencing a bad file. The second time I had actually left a blank white texture with lines in Unity and exported it as the actual prepared texture. Hope that helps.
  4. I made this guy with the intention of having a x-mas present drop off challenge but I was not able to get a hold of the artist to redistribute the artwork for download. "x-o" did the deer pictures, I did the rest. It was also my first attempt at 3d modeling and it shows. I am not entering for the points, but it is capable of dropping presents anywhere and in any amount due to the magical OP DeerButt mk1 engine. If you look close you can see the DeerButt exhaust! Also included a pic of the present after drop at the island runway, and some "snow" pics at KSC.
  5. Fitting inside a .625(.5) part is not terribly tough, stacking and balancing kerbals seems to be the challenge here. I submit a solar powered rover with all small science. http://imgur.com/mWJwRLp Top down with a .625 tank around it. http://imgur.com/3h63nP5 Roverin' http://imgur.com/hKVY4Ng Stackable 2 man rover http://imgur.com/nr7XxR7 Failed 13 man rover, couldn't balance it. I only got the single and double version to balance so 1+100+500+50+50? Thanks for the challenge!
  6. Special thanks for the optimization in .23! Pass on to appropriate team member if you could please.
  7. Midnight release seems a bit much to ask of a small company, I would expect a daytime release so they can attempt to handle any issues before calling it a day. It would be much worse if they released it while they were sleeping. If this doesn't work for some impatient people, vote with your wallet and take up a collection to keep 4-5 extra people on staff for the overnights on release dates.
  8. I started using these wheels when learning to land on the Mun. They have some of the highest impact tolerance in the stock game which makes up for some of my less than perfect landings. You can come down really hard on these with out them breaking, usually breaking the connection before the wheel itself. They also stick out so far that they give you a lot of stability on uneven surfaces.
  9. It snows sometimes at KSC? This guy drops a parachuted present off and the deer shoot sparks out their "power port", any interest in a friendly K-mas challenge?
  10. I am 80% done with my first project, a Holiday themed rocket. One issue I'm having, besides my lack of skills, is when flying the controls are orientated 90 degrees to actual (left is up and right is down). I am fairly certain this is due to creating the parts with the wrong orientation to begin with. Is there any way to adjust this through a cfg or do I need to do it within a modeling program? My current workaround is to take a stock part and "control from here" which works just fine. Happy Solstice Season!
  11. I'm not on the spreadsheet either... but I didn't even make it into voting due to an oversight.
  12. Deathsoul, Lions, Tarmenious get my admiration for sticking to the challenge in spirit, simplicity and heat shield replication. Nice stuff!
  13. Vote 709 pushed it to a tie for #1!!!
  14. Neat Stuff. Thanks for throwing this together, it looks like it took some time. I preface the quick testing below with the fact that I am only running xl starter on the laptop, can play around more tomorrow with the macros and such on a real machine. I went through a couple different simple rocket builds real quick and didn't notice anything broken in the calculations. Seems to function as intended and that's cool. On Engines!J64 you get a #div/0 if you remove any value from M, an =if("your huge formula here"=#div/0,0,"your huge formula here) might fix it and others like it, if you are going for that polished look. Could do without the underlined headings that do not contain hyperlink, though they could be placeholders? You could add an importer for text files and then slap in some vlookups to bring the values into the charts, might be a bit much though.
  15. I took a poke at this but I think I failed at the basic part when I tried to make a Mars rover-like heat shield with stock parts, but here goes. Craft file Shield and Rover without lifter Capable of landing a rover as a Sky crane as the challenge calls for. Inspiration directly taken from Mars rover video in OP. Rover can be manned or unmanned, just need to EVA to rover seat right outside cockpit. (cockpit not visible in pics except shield picture. It's the center) Tested as crane (drop from short distance and have "crane" fly away) Kerbin, Mun, Minmus -- Duna to follow with more pics Edit2: works on Duna, but no fiery heat shield pics so not added Tested as lander/return from Mun Can unpack several ways depending on target: Sky-crane drop Parachute w/shield - drop the whole shield to surface and then lift out the rover, has enough snort to do this on Kerbin. Makes a nice floater/lander! Regular parachute - drop the shield and use engines only if needed. Edit: Thanks Xeldrak, had to wait until this morning to get forum approval to see the post. Holler if anything else seems off.
