The only time i use spin stabilization is for unguided projectiles, like atg rockets, or cruise missiles. otherwise, you are likely to rip something off of a larger orbit sized vehicle, as well as not be able to make your gravity turn, or any corrections should you sway off course, because you are not a computer, and thus lack the proper reaction times to do it properly.

[Showcase] Non Asparagus Launch Vehicles
Festivefire replied to AustralianFries's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I don't like it because i think it is an un-necessary amount of work for a little extra delta v. you really don't need it unless you are launching really heavy payloads, as well as it being unrealistic. in real life, fuel flowing like that would have torqued a rocket apart with the shifting center of mass -
this mod is very nice, i enjoy having re-entry effects drawn properly, as it always annoyed me to get mach effects while cruising through the lower atmosphere at 1.2km/s after interplanetary returns (also the part where that would disitegrate anything ever built, thats great as well). i have found that the heatshields' higher drag tends to flip my craft on re-entry, but with small modifications to make it FAR compatible, it works great! it also makes making a 10 kerbal space station lifeboat alot harder.

on the contrary, there are several private companies discussing tethering an asteroid in LEO, and mining from it.

[Showcase] Non Asparagus Launch Vehicles
Festivefire replied to AustralianFries's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I usually use one or two orange tanks (depending on fuel needs for the payload), and 2 or four radial boosters, comprised of an orange tank and mainsail, just set up to all fall off at once, and feeding into the center stage. i find that all but the heaviest of payloads really don't need the extra delta v provided by asparagus, and you just end up having to de-orbit a 3/4 full tank from the launch booster. -
