  1. Okay I'll have a look at my staging then. Operator error as usual
  2. I have never noticed this happening before today, although I haven't actually needed to use one for a week or so so I may have forgotten. Anyway I have a Mk16 parachute mounted on my lander, and as I lose altitude and speed the parachute automatically deploys. Is that usual behaviour? I would rather have manual control over its deployment.
  3. Well I am at the opposite end of the scale, I've only been playing since 26th December. Before getting the game I watched a lot of Youtube videos to give me an idea of what to expect from the game. Anyway I started out in sandbox mode and couldn't get my head around all the different parts, it was all too much. I made a few ships but other than just building ship after ship I wasn't sure what direction to take and felt a little lost. So I restarted in career mode and it all began to make sense to me then. Having limitations on available parts in my opinion makes the game more enjoyable and gives you goals. It will be good when they flesh out career mode some more and we have to actually buy parts, you'll really have to think then about building and the costs. Hopefully they'll also add in G-Force effects on the Kerbins, and oxygen supplies, food , water etc. Planning a mission to another planet would be much more in depth if you had to take supplies with you to survive, and not taking enough could mean you lose Kerbins which might impact other parts of the game, like recruitment for instance.
  4. Okay so this time it is actually a bug and not me doing something wrong again. Cheers.
  5. The problem I am having is purely one of not enough light, I cant plan a descent to the surface as I cant see anything its totally black (as it would be I know). So as much as I would love to land in a crater, I cant even see one. Theres no gamma or brightness settings in the options to change, other than cranking the brightness on the screen right up as I approach the dark side I cant see any way to make it any easier. Guess I'm better off just avoiding landing in the dark until my skills improve.
  6. Well I spent a long long time putting struts on my ship. I decided to save the whole lower section as a sub assembly. So I disconnect the ship from below the command pod and drag it to sub assembly, of course after that I have to drag it back to recreate the ship again. The problem is when I reconnected the lower half of the ship the vast majority of my pain staking strut placement has disappeared
  7. Yes that could easily be achieved by just adding a camera to the parts and have a small viewscreen with a video feed. Are the devs taking on board any ideas at all?
  8. Yes some form of ground scanning radar would be useful.
  9. katateochi that is a work of art. I had no idea you could build stuff that looks this good. Are any of you using any kind of mods to add these parts, or are they available in the vanilla game?
  10. Great designs on here, I'm especially liking the Whitebird, looks pretty much like the actual Blackbird, well done good work.
  11. Kerbal alarm clock is fantastic, thank you for suggesting it to me, I'm not really sure why that is not included in the game already to be honest as it ought to be. Thanks all for your posts, I think I will simply avoid landing in the dark for now, at least until I have got better at flying and landing without making mistakes.
  12. Is that a mod? I'm trying to steer clear of mods at the moment and learn it in vanilla before tinkering with it.
  13. Now that is useful information. I'll attempt my next landing using IVA. Off topic I know, but I wish the time warp would stop automatically at 1 min from your maneuver point, the amount of times I've overshot when warping is ridiculous.
  14. I usually land on the light side of the mun or minmus (as far as I have got yet), and attempted a landing on the dark side of the mun for the science. Well it might sound like a silly question but what advice can people give me as far as actually seeing what I am doing when landing. I have fitted lights, mk1 and mk2 to my lander, but they really don't help and its hard to judge mountains or hills. I tried it a few times and slammed into the ground each time. There is no brightness or gamma settings in the options either. So any advice would be much appreciated.
  15. I feel a fool yet again, it was as you say. Also sorry I posted in the wrong section, I'm new and won't make the mistake again.
