  1. A few weeks ago I had to ride home with my neighbors. The driver, a short old lady, after nearly running over 3 people in the parking lot, was swerving in and out of her lane without a signal in heavy traffic going well over the speed limit. As I sat in the back seat fearing for my life, a story came on the radio about self driving cars. The lady then look at her husband and said, "You hear that? What a world, I wouldn't trust a computer to drive me anywhere."
  2. A few months ago when I was talking to a friend about places where we like to go fishing. Me: "There's a big pond we used to go to, but now its dried up because of global warming and stuff." (I said this sarcastically, it was actually because a dam broke.) Friend: "Wait, you believe in that stuff?" Me: "What do you mean?" Friend: "Well, I know like the Earth is warming up, and storms and droughts and everything, but didn't the Aztecs or the Mayans say..." I stopped listening at that point. I don't talk to him anymore, though for reasons other than that.
  3. An orbiter powered by a pair of small nuclear engines I sent to explore Eve and Gilly. After getting all the science I could from orbit I put it down on Gilly's surface. The transfer stage is still attached in this image.
  4. That wasn't even a facepalm, that was just a sigh followed by a long silence from me.
  5. A few of my "friends" insist that zodiac symbols affect you. "Most zodiac stuff is correct", and "You are stuck on the ones that aren't true"... yeah. I just gave up trying
  6. Just got back from vacation in Canada where we watched the Canada Day fireworks, got back and saw an early show yesterday. Today we'll just light a few fountains and sparklers in the driveway.
  7. Wow, glad I wasn't the only one who had a bad feeling about this one. I have family over this weekend, it was a lovely morning. We were all sitting on the porch until I brought everyone in to watch the launch in the living room. I thought it was stage sep at first, until the rocket stopped existing. My heart just dropped. We all just sat and stared at the screen for a few minutes.

I could (and have) spend hours just flying around and clicking on random stars. It never ceases to amaze me. Here are just some of the things I've discovered.
  9. My most common failure is not having enough fuel to return. Like a few weeks ago I did my first manned mission to the Jool system. After the Vall landing, I realized that the mothership didn't have the fuel to return. So I sent a re-fueling mission, and after docking I started back for Kerbin. I was 30 m/s short of returning...
  10. Yes, just, yes. Sure it wouldn't be easy, but it needs to be done eventually. We can't just keep putting it off.
  11. Assuming the nukes are heading toward downtown, I'd be fine from where I live. I'd probably just put on some sunglasses, look out my window, and wait for the show. Not much else I could do.
  12. Awesome! I guess Jeb's too cool for stairs.
  13. Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus taken with my phone through my telescope. I know they aren't much compared to some other pictures I've seen, but I'm pretty proud of these pictures anyways.
