  1. well, depends on how you define "space station"... but since you talk about modules attached horizontally, i do believe my Dream Big definitely qualifies. It is a giant mothership intended to provide life support and supplies during a grand tour. It has 14 docked ships, of which 11 manned, and 10 of those are attached radially. Linked thread has the complete mission report, in particular Part 4 has pictures of the ship in kerbin orbit, Part 6 has the ship at Duna, Part 2 has a detailed account on the ship assembly. Part 9.2 eve has the ship make a high thrust manuever while

  3. KSP 1.11.x Near Future Propulsion [1.3.2] Last Updated March 14, 2021 This pack contains advanced electric engines for deep space travel. Generally engines split into the following categories: Gridded Ion Engines: like the stock Dawn, they have low TWR and great Isp. They run on Xenon fuel. Hall Effect Thrusters: similar to Gridded thrusters, but with better TWR at the cost of some Isp. They run on Argon fuel and are pretty cheap! Magnetoplasmadynamic Thrusters: with the best TWR of all electri
  4. Welcome to Kerbalism Hundreds of Kerbals were killed in the making of this mod. Kerbalism is a mod for Kerbal Space Program that alters the game to add life support, radiation, failures and an entirely new way of doing science. Go beyond the routine of orbital mechanics and experience the full set of engineering challenges that space has to offer. All mechanics can be configured to some degree, or even disabled if you don't like some of them. A big part of the mod is fully data-driven, so that you can create your own customized game play with only a text editor and a minimal amo

  10. I was just looking for new challenges, when I stumbled over this expanded deltaV map And I thought, wow, that's exactly what I need to make a grand tour more complicated! except, I can't find the mod in question. which is strange, because many people talk about it, it seems quite famous. But both forum search and searching in the mod library gave no results. can someone kindly link me to the mod page? thanks
  11. This topic is used to talk about flags created by everyday people and the largest modders in KSP alike! We welcome any flags, as long as they are Safe For Work. I guess that's it, keep sharing your flags! (eventually I will make a picture of a vessel with all the flags on the topic, to participate you must include a link to your flag in the description as well as the pictr) Posting NSFW flags on this topic will be reported to the moderators.
  12. I was playing KSP1 earlier and got to thinking about it. In my opinion it would be great for fixing things on outposts (like in the current KSP), exploring and just all around immersion. Have you guys heard anything and if not, what do you think?

  15. There is a LOT of great stuff going on in Fanworks and Mission Reports now, with some new stories and some continuing ones. Some are all text, some are text and screenshots, and there are at least two graphic novels. I've had some good conversations with other writers in PMs and thought it would be nice to have a thread where we can talk about things like characterization, canon/fanon, plotting, tone, things to avoid, etc, etc. If I may be so bold, I propose a few ground rules to start: All of the Forum and Community rules apply. They apply VERY much. Don't criticize an
  16. Like on some names I have problems, beeing a non-native english speaker for example I always thought Vanamonde was Vananamonde or damonvv damovv so: let's talk about how your name is pronounced correctly or someone elses for example mine is Star- Helper- Dude, pretty easy I would say
  17. What is it you're trying to do? If you tell us specifically, maybe we can tell you who to talk to about it.
  18. KSP 1.11.x Kerbal Atomics [1.2.0] Last Updated December 23, 2020 This part pack is designed to provide some new nuclear thermal rockets for your spaceship-building pleasure. There are eight new engines, one in the 3.75m size class, four in the 2.5m size class, two in the 1.25m size class and one in the 0.625m size class. They are fuelled with LiquidHydrogen, and in some cases can use Oxidizer to boost their thrust at the cost of specific impulse. Liquid Hydrogen is less dense than liquid fuel, so for the same Delta-V, you will need more tank volume.
  19. Yeah, if you build your game well, a lot of the APIs you expose for your gameplay team can be the same APIs you expose for modding. E.g., you need functionality to enumerate ships and get their SoI and orbital elements to display them on the map. Expose the same exact functionality to the modding API, and somebody can write a quick little plugin to show these ships on a separate map, just like in the image above. And scripting would be nice, but I hope it's a sort of thing we get as an option. As discussed elsewhere, a visual programming language would be a great way to get custom parts o
  20. I do believe the Dev's have said a couple of times that mod support is a tent pole of the development, is important to building community for the new game and will be better than KSP. There was talk of documented scripting that part of the team is using to develop the game but not sure we've heard further as to what that looks like in the shipping product.
  21. True, but that GSE tank (they are building others) is ~400,000 gallons (~25m tall, 9m dia). Dunno what shipping is on 100k gallon propane tanks, but retail plus shipping times 4 is likely about the cost of that tank, or they'd just buy them (as they have for the rest of the tank farm). That GSE tank is about half a SS worth of steel work, and about 1/3 the work of SH. SS stage costs minus the expensive bits (engines, etc) are ridiculously cheap. Back in the BFR/ITS days, talk was that a BFS was maybe 230M$ in production, and BFR was around 200M as a guess, then amortize per launch. A
  22. UPDATE 6/4/21 Still seems good. I'm not sure, because @Nereid hasn't updated FF, but everything looks OK. Getting into the game it helps to give the Kerbals a little bit of character. Using Final Frontier and my ribbon pack gives you the opportunity to acknowledge the experience and expertise of your Kerbals, besides through their skills. These are all user-assigned. But I am keen to talk with anyone who might like to write a plugin to make promotions and assignment of roles easier. ALSO: Want a set of ribbons for your expeditions like the ones below? Ask, and I'll see wh
  23. yes, but how you know if i didn't talk about it in the video? and if i get selected i will of course only go if the starship has proven in capabilities. the explosions now are only the first tests.
  24. Well, ok, if we're having a real talk, clouds actually affect aircraft quite a bit. Not so much because of what the clouds are made of, of course, but because of what makes the clouds. First of all, there is humidity. It's at 100% by definition, and because tiny droplets do contribute to the dynamics at the scale of aircraft, the effective humidity can actually go a lot higher. That has impact on performance. Humid air is denser, which is good for your wings, propeller, and compressor in the jet engine. You get more thrust and more lift when flying in humid air, all else being the same. (
