  1. Forgotten Space Program Latest Post: 2020-12-03 - 28 Days Earlier / Ghosts and Stuff -- It's happened again. Those well meaning kerbals ran off and completely forgot about their space program. Maybe there was a global crisis. Maybe they ran out of funds. Maybe the Kraken ate the ship Jeb and the Bs were in. Or maybe it was just snack time and the cheese dip was really, really good. Unfortunately nobody remembers what went wrong because nobody remembers being there. Space? Whazzat? And so years pass. Eventually an eccentric millionaire stumbles on the ruins of the long-
  2. I read, I process and I try to see how one thing fits with the next. I use critical and "outside the box" thinking plus logic, to self analyze anything I read. None of these things are taught in any school I have heard of. In fact it is a large reason why I don't have a degree in Aerospace or Electronic Engineering of one form or another.... or for that matter a 4 year degree at all. Anything else I would say sounds like bragging. So instead, let me give you an example of how I come up with my data points. Engineering documents can be very confusing... If you ignore all th
  3. There seems to be a lot of talk about a science overhaul. Here are my thoughts. I think you should have application specific science. For example, you only start with solid fuel and liquid fuel, but you need to "discover" other types of fuel, by outlining the problem or discovering a resource. You might "discover" propellers after landing on another place with an atmosphere and taking an atmospheric scan. You might only "discover" bigger engines after you take a seismic scan or something during takeoff. You might only "discover" fusion torchships or xenon engines after collecting helium 3 on t

  5. This is the Anti-Dres Appreciation thread! Your blasphemous talk of this imaginary place!
  6. It's not like colliding with other vehicles is desirable. The goal would be to not collide with anything. This seems like a pretty unlikely case to even happen. The garbage notion of "discrimination against poor people" not seeing it. Beater cars are more likely perhaps to be driven by younger people who can only afford that, who are more aggressive, and have less time in type, and are not as skilled (or rely on their better reflexes, etc). maybe there is a signal there. The "reward" for the ML system is always "don't crash," so learning how to avoid crashes, even with specific "black box
  7. Welcome to our official newsletter, KSP Loading…! If you want to learn about all the current developments of the KSP franchise, then this is the place to be! And now, let’s talk about everything KSP! Kerbal Space Program Update 1.11 on PC Kerbal Space Program 1.11: Some Reassembly Required is being released this winter (well, winter in some parts of the planet). With it we are not only including a number of quality-of-life features, the Joolian moons visual enhancements, and some new parts - as we talked about in the past issue of KSP Loading - but also some more significant and
  8. KSP 1.11.x Kerbal Atomics [1.2.0] Last Updated December 23, 2020 This part pack is designed to provide some new nuclear thermal rockets for your spaceship-building pleasure. There are eight new engines, one in the 3.75m size class, four in the 2.5m size class, two in the 1.25m size class and one in the 0.625m size class. They are fuelled with LiquidHydrogen, and in some cases can use Oxidizer to boost their thrust at the cost of specific impulse. Liquid Hydrogen is less dense than liquid fuel, so for the same Delta-V, you will need more tank volume.

  10. This problem does not occur on other celestial bodies, but only on kerbin. The problem is that when i look down at kerbin the framerate is like around 10-16 FPS and when i look up in the space i have around 40-52 FPS. Laggy as hell. Also i have latest drivers n stuff, so let's not talk about specs. In older versions it didn't happen, but now it's laggy as hell. I need some support, that's driving me nuts though.
  11. @StarCrusher96 A heads-up, your installation instructions still talk about compressing/decompressing folders for EVE/Scatterer files. However in the latest release version there's no compressed files present, so this had me confused for a good bit. As it stands now it seems this part can now be disregarded entirely, correct? My jaw dropped upon entering the tracking station with the whole package installed; there's more coolness here than I suspect I will ever get around to doing, and it's top quality too!
  12. Ok but I have no rcs I don't need to dock, it's a crewed cargo resupply mission I don't need to send my second segment but has it ready in the VAB. I don't need to send my second segment but has it ready in the VAB. I need to rendezvous and not dock. i checked a lot but they mainly talk about docking

  14. KSP 1.11.x Near Future Propulsion [1.3.1] Last Updated December 26, 2020 This pack contains advanced electric engines for deep space travel. Generally engines split into the following categories: Gridded Ion Engines: like the stock Dawn, they have low TWR and great Isp. They run on Xenon fuel. Hall Effect Thrusters: similar to Gridded thrusters, but with better TWR at the cost of some Isp. They run on Argon fuel and are pretty cheap! Magnetoplasmadynamic Thrusters: with the best TWR of all elec
  15. KSP 1.10.x Mark IV Spaceplane Fuselage [3.1.2] Last Updated August 3rd, 2020 This part pack adds a new lifting-body fuselage system for aircraft heavily inspired by an iconic 60s sci-fi design. It's designed to fit 2.5m parts in a cargo bay easily, and 3.75m parts snugly. The parts are done in a stockalike style and I've attempted to be as close to Porkjet's Mk2 and Mk3 parts as I can. Highlights include: A full fuselage system in the Mark IV standard, from cockpits to cargo bays All the parts are fully configured
  16. Welcome to Kerbalism Hundreds of Kerbals were killed in the making of this mod. Kerbalism is a mod for Kerbal Space Program that alters the game to add life support, radiation, failures and an entirely new way of doing science. Go beyond the routine of orbital mechanics and experience the full set of engineering challenges that space has to offer. All mechanics can be configured to some degree, or even disabled if you don't like some of them. A big part of the mod is fully data-driven, so that you can create your own customized game play with only a text editor and a minimal amo
  17. KSD 2024.2 (Munday, Octember 21st 1895) - Duna's Surface The base landed safely, and so did we. The boffins even waited for our arrival to tell the base lander to extend the pieces out for placement on the surface, just so we could watch the show. And what a show it was! I was worried the whole thing might topple over any second, but it did fine. Then we got to watch the base lander craft fly up high and smash itself hard into the ground, giving our newly-deployed seismometer something to call home about. The base is very comfy! Just like up in orbit, we have a green
  18. On KSD 1228.0, the crew of the two-year Duna exploration mission Dunaverse was sent into orbit, officially beginning the first interplanetary habitation experiment of Kerbalkind. The mission was ultimately deemed a success, but it was not without incident. Upon their return, the crew of the Dunaverse was debriefed and their personal logs for the mission were reviewed. In light of the events that transpired during the mission, particular attention was paid to the logs of Raner Kerman, an engineer who had been a late addition to the crew. What follows are her relevant mission logs, the stran

  20. Well, sorta. There's an autopilot mod called MechJeb that's very popular-- it won't do everything for you, but it can automate quite a bit (e.g. "fly this ship to orbit" or "dock with that ship"). I've never used it myself, but I gather that it can do quite a bit. Add-on Discussions might be a good place to look for talk about it.
  21. Will KSP 3 features alien Kerbals, black holes?
  22. KSD 1234.4 (Eveday, Duember 19th 1895) - Solar Orbit We're well on our way to Duna! The overall flight is supposed to take about 204 days (still almost 200 to go...), which is a very long time indeed, but luckily we all get along quite well. If any of us needs time away from the rest of the crew, we can slip into the greenhouse or the science lab. We're going to test out the hibernation feature of the upper crew cabin today to see if it's effective. I'm on the second rotation for testing, so fortunately I don't have to worry about potentially never waking up again if the first t
  23. Luck them! Mine are lucky to get fed, the little punks get freeze dried potatoes....mmm...defiantly going to have to talk to rnd about that! Ice cream does seem like a good food for kerbals...
  24. So while I am finishing up my Covid lock-down (thankfully COVID wasn't too bad for me.) I though I would publish at-least one more historical paper on confusing things to hopefully make them less confusing. Todays subject is the J-2 Engine. Like most of you I know of many J-2 variants, and confusingly many of them have the same name. Or multiple engines have the same name with a different suffex. But we should start at the start. NASA was looking for a new Hydrolox engine for their Saturn rocket. They wanted something more powerful than the anemic but efficient Pratt a
  25. In the last week I've distanced myself from: Twitter. Account deleted. Facebook. Account deactivated so I can still use Messenger to talk to friends and family. Disqus. I used to post on the Green Bay Packers Insider Inbox comments section, but I can't take the hate any more. That's pretty much all of the social media outlets I was using. I did find an alternative to Facebook - MeWe. I signed up, and it seems to be a whole lot more friendly, and less ads-in-your-face than FB. I'll give it a shot and see how it turns out. Worst that happens is I leave there too.
