  1. KSP 1.11.x Near Future Propulsion [1.3.1] Last Updated December 26, 2020 This pack contains advanced electric engines for deep space travel. Generally engines split into the following categories: Gridded Ion Engines: like the stock Dawn, they have low TWR and great Isp. They run on Xenon fuel. Hall Effect Thrusters: similar to Gridded thrusters, but with better TWR at the cost of some Isp. They run on Argon fuel and are pretty cheap! Magnetoplasmadynamic Thrusters: with the best TWR of all elec
  2. Welcome to Kerbalism Hundreds of Kerbals were killed in the making of this mod. Kerbalism is a mod for Kerbal Space Program that alters the game to add life support, radiation, failures and an entirely new way of doing science. Go beyond the routine of orbital mechanics and experience the full set of engineering challenges that space has to offer. All mechanics can be configured to some degree, or even disabled if you don't like some of them. A big part of the mod is fully data-driven, so that you can create your own customized game play with only a text editor and a minimal amo

  4. In this dev diary post they did talk about how they were making explosions better (as well as other VFX), but nothing about terrain deformation or anything like that. I agree though, deformable terrain would be pretty cool, even if it wasn't persistent. If it was persistent though, the system could lend itself to other applications such as more immersive mining or surface levelling for base/colony building.
  5. I'd like terraforming as well, though, based on previous talks of what it would require it just doesn't seem to be in the cards due to computational limits I'm seeing a lot of talk over megastructures in this thread (has there even been a mega structure thread here?) and if they are possible to implement in a reasonable manner it would be cool to see them in the game as a more final phase. I doubt it will happen, there's a lot on the devs plate already but if this game is going to evolve over then next 10 years beyond release I think it would be cool if it could head in that direction.

  7. (I'm not the original author, but here's something I've found and edited to fix spelling and grammar) Overheard whilst in the company of Klingon Software Engineers Defensive programming? Never! Klingon programs are always on the offense. Yes, offensive programming is what we do best. Specifications are for the weak and timid! This machine is gagh! I need dual Pentium processors if I am to do battle with this code! You cannot really appreciate Dilbert unless you've read it in the original Klingon. Indentation?! I will show y

This challenge was continued with permission from the previous thread manager @sdj64 LINK to the old Jool-5 thread There are over forty-five pages of entries and discussion, so look and see what made it and what didn't LINK to the older Jool-5 thread. There are hundreds of pages of entries and discussion, so look at it to see what worked and what didn't! 10. No. I talk again: @NutellaSandwich, come!
  11. I'm glad to see you got your kerbals back home, but from what I just read really quickly (heading to lunch at work in a second), you had some serious design issues that were even more pressing than your rendezvous issues. You don't necessarily have to take my advice, but I would seriously suggest you look into basic rocket construction tips. elsewise I hope you've learned at least not to put kerbals in tubes then timewarp or try grabbing onto backwards batteries xD None of those things work let alone lead to something good. If you need any more help let me know. I'd be willing to talk you thro
  12. KSP 1.10.x Mark IV Spaceplane Fuselage [3.1.2] Last Updated August 3rd, 2020 This part pack adds a new lifting-body fuselage system for aircraft heavily inspired by an iconic 60s sci-fi design. It's designed to fit 2.5m parts in a cargo bay easily, and 3.75m parts snugly. The parts are done in a stockalike style and I've attempted to be as close to Porkjet's Mk2 and Mk3 parts as I can. Highlights include: A full fuselage system in the Mark IV standard, from cockpits to cargo bays All the parts are fully configured
  13. On KSD 1228.0, the crew of the two-year Duna exploration mission Dunaverse was sent into orbit, officially beginning the first interplanetary habitation experiment of Kerbalkind. The mission was ultimately deemed a success, but it was not without incident. Upon their return, the crew of the Dunaverse was debriefed and their personal logs for the mission were reviewed. In light of the events that transpired during the mission, particular attention was paid to the logs of Raner Kerman, an engineer who had been a late addition to the crew. What follows are her relevant mission logs, the stran
  14. Thanks Blowfish, I sort of knew I had forgotten something but couldn't figure out what it was. I only edited that section 7 days in a row! doh! However I do have a problem and I feel I know why I "forgot" that segment. Every document I have on Titan I and the launch failures talk about how the failure was due to impact or what is loosely described as the Coanda effect without calling it such. In every case the document talks about the main bell igniting at separation "fire in the hole" style. And 2 of my documents actually say "fire in the hole." This still leads me to
  15. Welcome to our official newsletter, KSP Loading…! If you want to learn about all the current developments of the KSP franchise, then this is the place to be! And now, let’s talk about everything KSP! Kerbal Space Program Update 1.11 on PC Kerbal Space Program 1.11: Some Reassembly Required is being released this winter (well, winter in some parts of the planet). With it we are not only including a number of quality-of-life features, the Joolian moons visual enhancements, and some new parts - as we talked about in the past issue of KSP Loading - but also some more significant and
  16. RVE-Extended - official KSP forums post I would love to here feedback about this mod, I wanted to share this with you guys because I feel like there aren't really any RSS visual mods that include a lot of or any detail beyond earth, I won't make this to long and let you guys talk amongst yourselves. 17. The other user theorised that it could be serviced by landing on it with planes and I showed him that we built working flying carriers 90 years ago, I'm not in any way trying to say that you could use WW1 planes to service a flying colony on Venus, but sure enough if that's what we could do almost a century ago, we can surely do it better now (if it wasn't for its impracticality we would have also 747 acting as flying carriers and I've seen plenty of footage of c130 planes landing or taking off with ridiculous restraints and that without even beginning to talk about mid-air cargo transfer tech
  18. KSP 1.11.x Community Tech Tree [3.4.3] Last Updated December 23, 2020 The Community Tech Tree is a mod designed to extend the stock technology tree to accommodate many community mods in an inclusive and extensible manner. This takes the form of expansions to the current tech tree. It provides new and extended branches for command pods, thermal management, ion engines, nuclear power and propulsion, and many more useful nodes. You'll need to install ModuleManager version 2.7.1 or higher, if you don't already have it, in order to extend
  19. PatchManager is a simple mod which will allow mod and patch authors to package various optional patches with their mods, or as stand-alone patch sets. By creating a simple config file for each patch, PatchManager makes it possible to install and remove patches from inside the game. Gone are the days where you would have to copy patches into the game. An additional benefit is that all active patches are stored in a single location, making it easy to save, package up and redistribute to your friends. This mod will do nothing by itself. It requires a mod to include patches in a

  21. Forgotten Space Program Latest Post: 2020-12-03 - 28 Days Earlier / Ghosts and Stuff -- It's happened again. Those well meaning kerbals ran off and completely forgot about their space program. Maybe there was a global crisis. Maybe they ran out of funds. Maybe the Kraken ate the ship Jeb and the Bs were in. Or maybe it was just snack time and the cheese dip was really, really good. Unfortunately nobody remembers what went wrong because nobody remembers being there. Space? Whazzat? And so years pass. Eventually an eccentric millionaire stumbles on the ruins of the long-
  22. I read, I process and I try to see how one thing fits with the next. I use critical and "outside the box" thinking plus logic, to self analyze anything I read. None of these things are taught in any school I have heard of. In fact it is a large reason why I don't have a degree in Aerospace or Electronic Engineering of one form or another.... or for that matter a 4 year degree at all. Anything else I would say sounds like bragging. So instead, let me give you an example of how I come up with my data points. Engineering documents can be very confusing... If you ignore all th
  23. There seems to be a lot of talk about a science overhaul. Here are my thoughts. I think you should have application specific science. For example, you only start with solid fuel and liquid fuel, but you need to "discover" other types of fuel, by outlining the problem or discovering a resource. You might "discover" propellers after landing on another place with an atmosphere and taking an atmospheric scan. You might only "discover" bigger engines after you take a seismic scan or something during takeoff. You might only "discover" fusion torchships or xenon engines after collecting helium 3 on t
  24. I was wondering last night if a fusion/fision sun would have enough efficiency to help. And It would probably be easier if the planets held the water as a form of machinery only used by it if it's not enough fuel. Or if it adds a little. Especially if they are to scale towards a sun(very tiny or golf ball size or smaller.). Or if it slowly feeds the sun some time of partial fuel that only needs to exist in small amounts. I have no idea what the specifics are obviously. could you make a fusion/fision combo sun that is around the size of a soccer ball or a very large bouncy ball the si
