  1. Hello! This is a replacement for the Dres Awareness Society as the original thread is quite old. Here is a link to the old thread:
  2. Hello Kerbonaut! Have you ever thought of Dres to be.. Boring? No matter how many times you go sightseeing the canyon, you still fall asleep from boredom? Well, you stumbled into the right place! Here at Nova Aerospace, we've taken note of this issue, and after years of collecting Dres-teroids for this project, we are happy to begin the Better Dres series with a Dres ring. Introducing Part one of the Better Dres series: Dres Ring! This mod adds two individual rings around Dres, one very light and dim, close to the surface, and one way thicker, farther away from the surface. In the rings, you can see stripes of cyan, green, blue, and purple, because we thought that grey was just a little bit too boring and decided to sprinkle in some magic asteroids too. (Disclaimer, asteroid spawning rates stay the same for now.) Pictures: (No visual mods other than this one) Tracking station view: Please note that this is my first ever mod. Feedback is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Souptime for explaining this to me and helping me pull this off. Also VAOS, because this was kind of boring, and his stream entertained me Download: [snip] [snip] Dependencies: Kopernicus (and thus all of it's dependencies aswell)
  3. Dres stinks, it's one of the hardest places to get to in the game, it looks like a mun clone, and no one even knows of it's existence. So that's why we wanna show antisupport for Dres! So, we must do damage to Dres! Anything that shows negativity for Dres works. RAM an asteroid into the surface. Make space debris in Dres orbit Abandon bases and blow them up (causing surface trash)! If you really wanna help: Download this mod and set up bases on Dreskiller Base to help destroy Dres! If you really REALLY wanna help: everyone says Dres is better than Ike, lets show them that Ike is better. Go show support for Ike!!!
  4. Reported Version: v0.2.1 (latest) | Mods: Orbital Survey; Science Arkive; Node Manager | Can replicate without mods? Yes OS: Windows 11 Home | CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 | RAM: 16 GB There is something wrong with the scientific data in the German translation of the Dres Ramp. Also, the amount of science points you get is not quite right. Included Attachments:
  5. Last week was the anniversary of the Dawn spacecraft entering orbit around Ceres! To commemorate this mission, recreate it in KSP2 by sending a solar ion-powered probe to Dres! Primary: Capture a probe into orbit around Dres with one or more solar-powered ion engines. Secondary: Make one flyby of Duna on your way to Dres. Jeb: Eject your probe out of Kerbin's sphere of influence with a solid booster upper stage. Val: For extra realism, this ejection burn should be spin-stabilized and not use SAS.
  6. Reported Version: v0.2.1 (latest) | Mods: Alarm Clock, BepInEx, Docking Alignment Display, Flight Plant, Micro Engineer, Node Manager, SpaceWarp, UITK for KSP 2 | Can replicate without mods? Yes OS: OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home | CPU: Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor, 3701 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s) | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti | RAM: 32,0 GB Science experiments performed on the ultimate quarterpipe on dres give an unmodified amount of science. This includes at least surface samples, crew observations, environment samples and radiation measurements. These experiments provide science at the same rate as would they would on Kerbin. I have not tested all biomes on Dres, but it at least does not appear in the Eye of Dres or Equatorial Ridge biomes.
  7. Reported Version: v0.2.0 (latest) | Mods: none | Can replicate without mods? Yes OS: Windows 10 Home 22H2 | CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | GPU: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 | RAM: 128 GB DDR5-6000 What happened: I have crossed through the rings on a slight incline and even tried to match them as best I can in map view, but at no point in the orbit do I actually see anything in flight view. This kind of robs us of an exploration opportunity and there should be a special flight situation for it as well. What was expected: Lots of tiny space dust, or maybe even small asteroids. Something colorful and reflecting sun light like you see it in the map. Something with a 3D appearance, as the map shows a 2D texture. Included Attachments:

  9. Now since it's orbiting Dres it's out of communication range so it has no control. I gave up on trying to get it to Dres orbit normally so I used Lazy Orbit by Halban on Spacedock. I did this since the purpose of this mission was to get a cool photo for my profile banner so I didn't mind. I hope you guys like the photo, until next time!
  10. Reported Version: v0.2.0 (latest) | Mods: none | Can replicate without mods? Yes OS: Win 11 | CPU: I7 | GPU: Rtx 3080 | RAM: 32 When at dres, make maneuver node so it ejects from dres and sun periapsis it at somewhere 13300000km kerbin altitude, now zoom map, if you zoom to dres you lose maneuver orbits, sun and other planets at map view even if you are not zooming very close to dres. If you zoom out those orbits comes visible again. This havent been so obivious with other planets so far (visited them all) but this caught my eye bad. I didnt even find sun on map at first..
  11. That. The return to the Dres Awareness Society. Here's the link to the original Awareness Society, which was actually the reboot to the one before it! I haven't even ever gone to Dres (or even interplanetary. One day...) but Dres deserves some love again. So uh, I guess post something you like about Dres (KSP1 or KSP2). *** For me, I'm excited about the possibility of sending crew to the Dres canyon! It seems like a nice, scenic place to set up a little outpost.
  12. Reported Version: v0.1.4 (latest) | Mods: none | Can replicate without mods? Yes OS: Windows 11 | CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 | GPU: RTX 2060 | RAM: 40GB Issue: A persistent visual bug that's been in the game since day one, Dres's rings currently always render behind the planet regardless of what angle they are viewed from, this has no impact on actual gameplay itself but severely ruins what would be otherwise one of the most scenic and beautiful places in the game This image below shows the visual bug: Some people were getting confused over the perspective before, so below is this image but with the near and far rings highlighted, as can be seen the rings should overlap Dres, but don't: From map view:

  15. DRES v0.0.1 adds a new planet called Dres to fill the space between Duna and Jool. It can be considered an analog for Ceres. It is a rocky gray planet with a huge canyon just south of the equator. Includes 8 biomes and an asteroid belt. Dres is a very small planet. It was the first planet considered to be a dwarf. It’s orbit is highly irregular and together with it’s size it took a long time to discover since half the time it was not where scientists expected to find a planet. Due to its nature of frequenting the bad parts of space, this dwarf planet was officially labeled as “Not to be trusted” by the scientific community.'' — Kerbal Astronomical Society Requires {snip} Download from {snip} or with CKAN ↓SCREENSHOTS↓
  16. In a Dev video released a few years back on celestial archetecture, one of the devs hinted that they might sprinkle a few things on Dres in a future update. I think that going there in For Science! Could potentally be very vital to finding storyline as Dres is very forgotten so it only makes sense to throw some stuff on there.
  17. All right, time to add to the numerous new challenges popping up. The premise of the challenge is simple. Show your support for our loneliest planet, Dres! This is a challenge to perform a megamission to make Dres feel happy, so be creative on how you want to do it! I myself will be doing a circumnavigation of Dres by land later, so yeah. If your mission uses Dresteroids, the mission must directly relate to Dres in one way/shape/form. If this is a bit vague, notify me, and I'll put in some baseline examples. We at DresAwarenessLTD are here to emphasize large-scale missions to our lonely friend, Dres! A simple Land-Return mission is not enough to us, go further, and beyond! Not just Dres now, no. While Dres forever remains our Number 1, I have decided to include Eeloo and Moho on our planetary awareness list! That's about it. Carry on. Suggestions, which by no means you need to follow to complete this: Orbit: Not just one satalite, have a full NETWORK Have a space-station, big enough to be classified as BIG (unless you have a bad laptop like me) Surface: Rover? No, MANY rovers Lander? Ok, lot's O' Kerbals! Mining ops? Ok, LOT's! Base? Ok, make it BIG! Rules: -Please, no f12 or Hyperedit -Wheaton's Law -Try keeping it stock, tell me about a fun mod that doesn't ruin the challenge, and I will look into it Rules Regarding Proof: -Mission Report threads are fine, I encourage this too! -Screenshots, if used, should document at minimum, all iportant burns, manuevers, etc. -Videos are welcome! - Screenshots must show UI at all important events, beauty shots are exempt however. Please be sure to keep the UI visible if it is not a beauty shot Mods Allowed: Mods will now be handled on a case by case basis. To be blunt, all legitimate mods are allowed. That means, this is essentially a rule saying "Do not cheat by proxy of a mod" Ask for mods you find that are "on the fence" Completion badge made by an awesome friend, Dres Supporters! Successful entries will be mentioned here: -RocketPropelledGiraffe, One mission, and we see a craft of pure love Album: http://imgur.com/a/nUikV -Claw, the first to circumnavigate (by rover) Dres! 'Gratz, I'll be doing that later as part of a secret megamission! -627, for giving Dres a classroom of friends (literally) -5thHorseman, for turning one of the Dresteroids into an honest to goodness rover, driving a whopping 900 metres! - Goijra1000, for a GIGANTIC mobile orbital colony with 24/7 party dedicated to Dres -Jakalth, with three orbital tugs and an extreme Sat network, ending in with a major blow to the save, courtesy the Kraken -DoctorDavinci, for two seperate satalite networks, 80 kerbals landed, two motherships, over 40 probe landers, and a flag in each crater - DMSP, for sending a nuclear powered orbiter then tumbling it down the Dres Canyon. -Nightingale, for modding in the name of Dres! -EvermoreAlpaca- for 1664 PASSENGERS IN AN SSTO TO DRES! WHAT IN BLAZING [REDACTED]?! -Calivingamr, for sending a literal heart of love to Dres! -George van Doorn for completing the Dres Awareness challenge by sending the most overkill rocket I have ever seen for what seems to be the tiniest interplanetary tranfser to Dres ever. -Magzimum, for circumnavigating Dres, sending a magnificent station to Dres and pulling 7481.8 science points from our lonely friend. (Update, 6th of September: As well as spending upwards of 2.5 million funds to send a VTOL-spaceliner full of kerbals to Dres, with a harrowing refuel to return home safely!) -bigcalm, for an absolutely stunning textbook mission, fulfilling EACH AND EVERY one of the suggestion criteria! -zeta function, for a simple and sweet 12 probe network in orbit of Dres! -Geonovast, for an 8 satellite network and permanent base on Dres. Part 2: for forcing Kerbin to give Dres a big ol' hug! (And Duna!) -Cpt Kerbalkrunch, for sending a heartfelt and expensive love-steroid to Dres! -Zherdev, for a nicely sized space station to high Dres orbit in a single launch! -GRS, for a comprehensive 21 satellite network, and two HUNDRED Kerbals brought to and from Dres. Later goes on to perform a double round trip between Dres and Kerbin in a separate mission! Further mission to collect 30k science points from Dres! Furthermore creating a new moon named Spade for Dres! -Torn4dO, for turning Dres into a second bastion of Kerbalkind with multiple orbital vessals, a science station, asteroid miner, multiple relays, and on the surface; 13 different rovers, a science outpost, 3 separate landers, and a freaking HOTEL, with the mission comprising a total of TWO-HUNDRED FIFTY KERBALS! -dvader, for sending a science carnival to and back from Dres. It was just so colourful! -Xenocatz(Sorry for improper caps here bud), for a wonderfully executed blanket of satellites for Dres! -Eriksonn, for setting up semi-permanent mining ops and a badass looking mothership station on/around Dres! Later gives Dres a new friend named Rega and a beautiful set of rings! -Spacenerd Kerman, for literally giving Dres, Love, a new moon! -SecondChance, for a classic large scale lander-station mission with a total of 7 seats, and a 12 satellite relay network! -Robonoise, for completing the Dres Awareness challenge with a residential outpost of decent size, on Dres! -Gordon Fecyk, for a detailed and pleasing-to-follow exploration of Dres(JNSQ mod edition)! -Nantares, for lighting up Dres with deep-space relay comms, turning it into the comm hub of Kerbol! SPECIAL MENTIONS These special mentions are for those who become the caretaker of all the lonely ones, Dres, Moho, and Eeloo: - 5thHorseman Also, let me know of anything! I'm open to any fun-increasing ideas! -SPAddict
  18. So I noticed that a vehicle that orbits perfectly in the rings of Dres still sees all those rocks and clouds of dust zooming by like the rings are stationary in relation to Dres. However, if you were orbiting with the rings, they would appear stationary to you because you are orbiting with them, right? Is this intentional or a simple oversight? Is it just not fixed because it would be too hard? Am I wrong entirely? (Also it would be nice if Jool had a ring of dust or something)

Yes OS: 19045.3448 | CPU: 10900X | GPU: 2070 | RAM: 128 Any input of force while on EVA or in craft of Dres, upon finishing the input manifests a phantom force that doesn't seem to be related to the input of the force. When the player applies force the phantom force is removed. As in the video, jumping reproduces it, upon finishing any RCS input reproduces, walking doesn't seem to be affected. Craft also manifests the same behaviour. Fully stock game. Included Attachments: KerbalSpaceProgram22023-10-0719-49-36.mp4
  21. Dres. What's it good for? It's basically Mun; similar size, similar look. But it is much harder to reach. It's too small and too difficult to reach to use effectively for gravity assists. And it has nothing remarkable. Really, why would one want to visit Dres, except to say "i've been there"? it has no personality. even Pol has something special about it, and it's a serious competitor for the title of "most useless rock around kerbol" otherwise. the only remarkable thing about dres is its canyon. So i went and tried to drive my rover through it. I did drive my rover through Mun's canyons, and it was a marvelous experience. I could get speed, then i would find a crater rim and make a really cool jump. the canyon oriented north-south was especially good as a racing circuit. maybe the dres canyon would be a cool drive? maybe the planet would have this one redeeming quality? Never. the surface is too irregular, the gravity is lower. whenever i try to get to speed, i lose control. worse, the surface is so rugged, it's a real danger. my rover is armored so that it won't take damage from crashing. indeed, i did drive it for hundreds of kilometers around mun, and i never broke anything at any speed below 35 m/s. I often survived unschated up to 40 m/s. But on Dres, I managed to break wheels already at half that speed. And the canyon? the bottom of the canyon is all angles, without any soft path. it's impossible to race through it. i decided to go and vent a bit of my dres hating around
  22. This mission was part of the Dres Awareness challenge. The goal of the challenge was to show your love for Dres, with something BIG! Unfortunately, my PC is literally a hand-me-down, so extremely big was not an option. But there are other ways to be big. Dres Tourism Commission report: Reply to the previous report, from KSC Director Andrew Kerman: 18 months later... The sun was shining. The birds were singing. And another huge rocket was on the launchpad. Here's the launch: Trying to get a Dres encounter was pretty stressful, (small soi) so I forgot to get a picture of the transfer burn. However, as proof I didn't cheat, if you look at the D-v levels, they've gone down by 1629 m/s, which is pretty close to the 1540 my interplanetary transfer cheat sheet says. (The fuel has also gone down) However, I think I documented everything else pretty well. Transfer to Dres/ orbital insertion: Dres landing: Landed, safe and sound! I had fun doing this! I hope it's big enough for Dres! Maybe when I get a better PC I can do something bigger. (Like a hotel!) In previous attempts, I tried storing the billboard horizontally. It made the rocket flip over sometimes and even though I would revert the flight anyway, I tried recovering it using the remaining fuel. They all failed, but it made for some interesting screenshots. Bloopers: Enjoy! Try a Dres mission of your own if you haven't, it's an interesting challenge.
  23. IF THIS HAS BEEN DISCUSSED BEFORE, SEND THE FORUM LINK AND THIS THREAD WILL BE CLOSED. Eeloo is meant to be a Pluto analog. Thus, it would be a dwarf planet. The IAU considers a celestial a planet if it 1) is able to clear its orbit of any other debris, 2) is in Hydrostatic Equilibrium and 3) orbits a star, or multiple stars. Eeloo orbits the sun, is amongst the most spherical planets and has no asteroids in its orbit and thus can be considered a planet. However, this fails to account for the debris in their orbit which may not be simulated. Instead, we will be using a simple method: any body larger than Pluto in mass and orbiting the Sun will be considered a planet or Planetary mass, unless debris are simulated in their orbit. Pluto has a mass of 2 miliearths, so if Eeloo has greater mass than that, it’s a planet. Eeloo has a mass of 21 milikerbins (or miliearths in IRL scale), so it is a planet. It would be bigger than the Moon in IRL scale, and would be exceptionally dense. Likewise, Dres has a mass of 6 milikerbins and is thus a planet by this definition. In fact, by this definition, Kerbin is not a planet due to the presence of the asteroid ring!
  24. For decades Kerbals have ignored Dres and never went there. Because of this, the Kerbals didn't know much about Dres. All of this changed when The Dres Awareness Society sent a probe there and discovered Dres' secrets. Almost everything the Kerbal Astronomical society though they knew about Dres was wrong. - Dres Awareness Society Welcome to the Dres Plus mod. This mod aims to make Dres more exciting and fun. Features: Re-sizes Dres to be 950 km in radius instead of previous 138 km. Dres has rings! (They need some work though) Dres' orbit is more circular and less inclined to make it more like a planet. Surface gravity of Dres is now 2.1g Dres spins very fast now, with a rotational period of around a half an hour. (This makes landings easier than you would think) Dres has three moons. Opaki is the largest moon of Dres It almost entirely covered in a deep blue ocean, except for the poles, which have some land. It has a thick oxygen atmosphere which extends to 40 km. It is about half the size of Kerbin with a gravity of 0.4g. Okuv is the next moon. It is white and brown which makes it look like a snowball that was dropped in mud. It orbits Dres in such a way that it looks like it actually orbits Opaki in a very elliptical and inclined fashion. In terms of landing, it is somewhere in between the Mun and Minmus, as it has a radius of about 100 km. Ast. DIR-284 (also known as Fonzo) is a small moon in the asteroid belt. It is dull and grey like the other asteroids. It is a bit bigger than Gilly with a radius of 19 km, which makes it a Class-V Asteroid. (Yes, I did the math) Pictures: At the time that I am writing this, my profile picture is a sunset from Opaki. Note : This mod requires Koperncius Another Note: This mod is very much a work-in-progress. Now on to the important stuff. Download (Spacedock) License
  25. Kerbonauts! The weekly challenge is... Dres! Primary: Land on Dres Stretch: Land in one of Dres' canyons and return safely to Kerbin Jeb: Land a rover on one side of the Dres canyon and jump the canyon. (You can use rockets to hop and cushion impact, but use wheels to gain speed) Val: Place a satellite in orbit within the outer gap in Dres' rings Good Luck and Happy Launching!
