  1. I'm having an incredibly frustrating issue in the VAB. For whatever reason, the science lab is somehow attached to the N and S parts of the station, which themselves are somehow not attached to the central hub. I've tried changing the root to a dozen different configurations, but nothing has worked. I also tried changing the root and deleting the science lab, but then the central hub's attachment nodes disappear. The central hub was the first part that I placed, and I built outwards, so I'm not sure how this could've happened.
  2. When i revert to the VAB or the SPH all i see is a blank blue screen and the menus, no parts or the building itself are visible. The only fix is to quit entirely to the main menu and reload the game. I have no mods installed except mechjeb.
  3. So I'm having the most difficult time making this docking node attach to a rover I'm trying to add to this plane. I wanted it to work with the Mk2 Clamp o tron (even though ideally I wanted a Jr. sized docking node), but then was willing to settle for anything that worked. Nothing does! I don't know what I'm doing wrong; I haven't had trouble with docking node attachments before. Hopefully this picture explains my woes, I don't really know how else to explain what is going wrong. I just can't seem to get the nodes to want to attach. Holding down alt makes the problem 'worse' in that it won't even be anywhere near where it should be attached. When I attach it as it looks in the picture, it's actually inside the other port and undocking in game does nothing. I've tried offsetting it so they are very close but not technically touching, but they still act like they are inside each other, and it wont let go of the rover. The heck is wrong? http://imgur.com/YNaGu6w
  4. I have a problem, and I need help with said problem, I haven't found any reliable solutions that don't involve cleaning my install. Mods: BDA, BDA Vessel Switcher, CAL, Firespitter(KAX), KAX, KerbalFoundries, Hyperedit, Malfunc industries BDA parts, NAS, NKD Weaponry, TakeCommand, and Tweakscale. So my problem is that I want to make an ICBM and I go into the VAB, I can't load my crafts, I make a new one and when I launch it does nothing, it sits there, I can click parts and they change appearance as if I clicked them, It does nothing, jack excrements. Every time I try it, it won't work. The SPH works so I can make tanks and planes but nothing can come out of the VAB.
  5. Whenever I try to explore the Kerbal Space Center, let's say I'm climbing up the VAB, I have to jump to begin to get over something or to get onto the next latter, but when I try to do that, it seems like I'm standing under a something right over my head. I hit space and it looks like Jeb hits his head and falls down. Is it a glitch? Am I doing something wrong? Please help.
  6. Is there a way to do some 5 way symmetry ? I have a hard time doing it manually in the VAB. Other question : when you do, let's say, a 6 way symmetry and you want to add stuff only on 4 of the 6 parts. Is there a way to do it with 2 way symmetry (which is hard to do clean stuff with) Any Stock solution ? Any moded solution ?
  7. A simple idea, no influence on game play except a little enjoyment: I'd love to be able to place flags, (or even other signs, text etc?) on my rockets in any position. Mainly I thought of this because 1) many parts that seem like they should have a flag, don't (all the fuel tanks for example) and almost without fail, the flag placement on the command pods is in a weird position: eg the 3-kerbal pod say you want to put 2 or 4 things symmetrically around it: in almost every postiion they interfere with something, the hatch, the windows, and of course the flag. If I could place the flag in any position on the surface that I wanted, I'd feel a little better .
  8. (This is not a question; hopefully, it is an answer.) tl;dr: summary: activate the root tool it doesn't operate on anything transparent the first node you click will become the "connection" node the second node you click will become the new "root" node This tool (counter-intuitively combining two separate functions(?)) allows you to a) set the root node in an assembly of vehicles and b ) set some other part as a "connection" part, which makes it eligible (little, green, spherical marker) to have new (transparent) parts or sub-assemblies attached there. After you've operated with the root tool on an assembly, you'll likely have to save it as a sub-assembly and then manifest it in a subsequent edit to use it but then it will have the attachment point you need... -------------------- (This forum has been very helpful to me and I am very grateful. So I'd like to feed back something I've learned. Feel free to critique the above as it may be misleading or incorrect!) I had to edit a craft that is actually an assembly of several craft. You know the deal: a transfer vehicle delivers a lander into the destination orbit; the lander undocks and then deorbits to drop a rover on the surface but then land separately or re-orbit... I wanted to pull the vehicles apart to edit some and then reassemble them. (I use common components across a family of vehicles.) I needed the root tool but -- as has been remarked in this forum -- it isn't intuitive. (Which is pretty much inline with the whole "philosophy" of the VAB. ) There is some talk in this forum about cookbook step-by-step use of the root tool and some consensus that nobody knows how it works or how it is supposed to be used. Forgive me if there are some definitive articles about it, as I didn't find it. Hope this helps someone else. And, as always, I stand ready to learn from the more knowledgeable.
  9. Hello everyone. Need some help with this messy bug. At first - KSP build build id = 01028 found this bug yesterday, after installed huge amount of mods. Today i deleted all the mods via CKAN. then deleted game via steam deleted folder of the game in stamapps\common dowloaded game via steam. And the bug is still there. What a bug? So, i'll lry to explain when in VAB i create rocket. And after i created rocket i manage some details to activate on different stages and\or create some noew tsges. Here comes the bug! When i point mouse cursor on right line of stages - FPS drops to ~0.1-1 but mouse cursor works fine, and when i point cursor on some other thing - FPS returns to normal state. attaching output log and dxdiag. https://www.dropbox.com/s/izpk1h4wnmsuros/DxDiag.txt?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ektsx6thb0tadrb/output_log.txt?dl=0
  10. As we all know, the part menu easily becomes cluttered with even a few part mods. With the upcoming release of 1.1 and 64 bit KSP, people will be able to use many more mods than before, especially mods containing many, many parts. But even in the stock game, some part placements make no sense and are confusing, such as the location of crew cabins in the Utilities tab. My suggestion aims to fix that, without adding dozens of extra menus; it instead adds subcategories for each tab. When you selected a tab like "Utilities," a drop down menu would appear under the Utilities menu with the subcategories' tabs. This is how my idea of the perfect part menu would be organized: The "^" symbol designates a tab as a subcategory. Command ^ Crewed Control - Crewed parts with command capability like the Mk 3 cockpit or the Mk 1-2 pod ^ Crew Storage - Crewed parts without command capability like the science lab, crew cabins and the Hitchhiker ^ Probes - Various probe cores, as well as the avionics nosecone ^ Remote Communication - Transmitters, antennae, and resource scanners Propulsion ^ Aircraft Tanks - Aircraft fuel tanks (Aircraft adapters not included) ^ General Fuel Tanks - General rocket fuel tanks ^ Monopropellent Tanks - Various monopropellent tanks ^ Rocket Engines - Rocket engines (duh) ^ Solid Rockets - SRBs (duh) ^ Nuclear Engines - The only one in this category is the LV-N (This is mostly here for the mods that add several nuclear engines) ^ Electric Engines - Just the Dawn (This is again mostly here for mods that add a ton electrical engines [Nertea, I'm looking at you ] ) ^ Jet Engines and Intakes - Jet engines and air intakes (duh) Structural ^ Adapters - Stack adapters, as well as aircraft adapters ^ Construction - Struts, girder segments, docking ports, the launch stability enhancer and other structural bits. (Also, KAS parts would go nicely in this category) ^ Decouplers and Separators - This should be easy to figure out ^ Storage - Cargo bays, service bays, and the Mk3 ramp Utilities (This needed major reorganization) ^ Electrical - Solar panels, batteries, fuel cells, lights and the RTG (Basically anything having to do with electricity) ^ Heat Management - Radiators and heatsinks, as well as heat shields ^ Resource Collection - ISRU equipment and surface scanner, but not the orbital scanners ^ Surface Utilities - Ladders, landing legs, landing gear and rover wheels as well as the command chair ^ Precision Control - RCS thrusters and reaction wheels are found ^ Science! - Science stuff Aerodynamics (Also needed major reorganization) ^ Wings - Wing segments (duh5) ^ Aerodynamic Control - Winglets and control surfaces ^ Nose Cones and Fairings - Self-explanatory ^ Velocity Management - Parachutes and AIRBRAKES This is what I would like to see in a part menu in KSP. It would also be nice if we could change the part tabs more easily with config files, which I know Filter Extension already allows. Let me know what you think!
  11. Whenever I load a spaceplane into the VAB - the available symmetry options go wonky after a while. Trying to put a three engine rocket to propel my plane into the upper atmosphere - but I keep getting only two or one point of symmetry available. This is even after saving the plane in the VAB and having had three point symmetry available - it disappeared after a failed flight and the revert. Ideas?
  12. I tried turning this on, but it didn't seem to make a change. Could someone explain this to me? Thanks!
