  1. I’ve never orbited Eeloo, but I had 2 flybys and I took some pictures of it. What I saw is a planet covered in fractures and strange surface features. But what caused them to appear? I have 3 hypothesis about this strange planet Eeloo once had a large object orbiting close. That might cause tidal friction and as a result fractures, valleys and hills all over the surface. But where did this large moon go? It is possible that it was kicked off from its orbit by a massive collision! And then escaped Eeloo’s SOI. Perhaps it is Pol that once orbited Eeloo and the escaped? But what if Eeloo is still geologically active? Maybe it has its own cryogenic volcanoes. Or powerful steams of nitrogen and ice, rushing from underground to surface really quick. But how does cryogenic volcanism work? It’s quite simple. A lot of gasses like nitrogen, methane etc. are buried under ice in the caves and all sorts of places like that, but when the pressure is way too big, ice cracks and let gasses escape and fly away from the surface. This explains all those sudden brown spots… The last theory is that Eeloo has its own divided tectonic plates. That move and collide with each other causing earthquakes that leave fractures on surface. But that all are just theories and they need your support and ideas!.... P.S im not really sure if you get the word ''fractures'' as i expect And yeah about cryovolcanism, i would really love if you will mark where i made a mistake!
  2. After procrastinating for several weeks, I finally finished the mission and have completed the video I made out of footage of it. How did I do? Do you like the craft? If you do you can download it here: https://kerbalx.com/JacobJHC/Double-Tanker-Exploration-Vehicle
  3. Parking Troll on Eeloo, no not a parking Troll a Kerbal named Troll! I try a mission to hunt for an anomaly on Eeloo because I have never tried but things dont go to plan 'One of those days' I guess, I also rapidly convert a rover into a base while having the most creative crash landings I have ever had. Be warned I read my comments during the video
  4. In my most difficult and tedious mission yet, I send Jeb on an 84 year mission to Eeloo and back, requiring 12 gravity assists overall, using a craft that weighs just 3.6 tons! So much effort went into this one, from building the rocket and all the cars, writing custom configs for my visual mods to make Eeloo look just right, to actually performing each of the many many stages in the video! I really hope you like and appreciate what I've done here! Enjoy!
  5. How to Drive Eeloo As you can see by my sig, I have done the Eeloocano challenge. My mission report is in the Mission Report section and it is stickied. But enough of advertising. You are here to learn how to drive around Eeloo. Let's check Eeloo's terrain before building a sutiable rover. Eeloo's Equilateral Terrain Very hilly, paired with low gravity, can launch your rovers to their doom. Lots of canyons and valleys. I experienced 3 on my journey. Lots of brown. It's cool to look at. If there's no brown, there's white. Very bright midday. Now that you know the terrian, let's build the rover. What should my rover have? The Rover RTGs. Solar power is almost useless regardless of where you land in its orbit. Batteries should be included just in case you use mainly solar power. Low suspension. If your rover is tall, it will probably fall. The wider the better. It really helps for your wheels to take the brunt force and not the pod. The ability to climb and descend without exploding. Pretty straight forward. It should be pretty light, seeing as you need to bring it to Eeloo. How do I get to and/or land on Eeloo? It takes about 2 to 3 kms of Delta V to transfer to Eeloo from Kerbin. Make sure your rocket can afford any transfer burns in Kerbin or Kerbol SOI. Also, make sure the rocket can get into Eeloo orbit, and has a landing stage that can deliver it. Landing on Eeloo is like landing on the Mun. Make sure your landing stage can do that. use ksp.olex.biz for transfer windows. Some more tips If you are going past 30 m/s, take your finger off the W key and only steer it. If it goes past 35 m/s, brake until 25 m/s and then drive as normal. Brake while driving down hills. You only have to do it a bit, though. Quicksave if you feel like you have to. Eeloo is easy to drive and you only have to hit F5 and F9 only a few times. I do not recommend driving at night. The terrain is very hard to see. If you must, pack lights. Don't stop at landmarks unless they are in your immediate direction. Any trailing off will make you longer to drive around the equator. You must be patient. It took me 4 IRL days to drive around. Do not expect this to be quick. Have fun. If there's anything else I could add, please tell me. Hoped this helped.
  6. After months of planning, the Kerbals decided that they needed something to do. Something that would shock the whole of Kerbin... They decided that they would send something to every planet in the Kerbol system. Levels: Basic Send a probe to orbit every planet in the Kerbol system. Advanced: Send crew to orbit every body in the Kerbol system. Expert: Land crew on every body (except Jool and Eve) in the Kerbol system. Bob level: Expert + collect as much science as possible. Val level: Expert + with a plane. Bill level: Expert + with as little fuel as possible. JEB LEVEL: Expert + EVE LANDING! (and no, HyperEdit isn't allowed.) Allowed mods: MechJeb Infernal Robotics DMagic Science Any life support DeepFreeze OPT Space Plane (but not the dark drives) KIS and KAS Modular Rocket Systems RLA Stockalike Hullcam Vessel Viewer Kerbal Engineer RasterPropMonitor FAR Tundra Exploration ToolBar Kerbal Krash System Dang It! Idiot Lights Docking Port Alignment Indicator Universal Storage Fuel Tanks Plus Deadly Re-entry Scatterer/E.V.E Banned Mods HyperEdit Vessel Mover UKS/MKS Stockalike Mining Expansion Any mod not mentioned (unless you ask) Good luck and have fun! Post screenshots and level attempted, and whether any crew were lost!
  7. Ahh, yes. The classic drive around somewhere challenge. I have decided on Eeloo as my target. I have landed close to its Apoapsis, which means the sun is small and output is small. But, I brought 2 RTGs to generate power! This should be easy, and fast. A snowball sized like the Mun is an easy drive. Or is it really? DAY 1: Rough Driving We have landed on Eeloo. We have already driven 27km from the landing site. The rover is not it tiptop shape, but it still works. We are going to push on. Valentina will ace this drive! Day 2 is obviously tomorrow! Day 2: Not so small steps We have driven so far today! Both the landing site flag and the flag in the dirt are both gone. We have entered and driven out of an abyss. The rover has ended up on the dark side. Nothing has been lost. We will keep going. I might add another one today. MIGHT ;] I felt lazy so no titles or descriptions. You decide what happened today. Day 3 or 4 Part 1: Halfway Halfway! We have made the mark. Only another half and it's all over. It's not boring, it's just taking a while. Also, no titles or descriptions for these 45 pictures. Why part 1? Because there will probably be another part tonight. I have become obsessed with finishing this challenge. I can do this. Day 3 or 4 part 2: Game Over I did it. 210km driven. The snowball has been conquered. All I need to do is rescue her. I probably won't, to honor here. It's finally over. Here it is. 66 pictures with no titles or descriptions again.
  8. hi guys, I'm going to Eeloo for the first time and I have done the calculations and I have more than enough. But as Eeloo is on an inclined elliptical orbit, and ksp.olex.biz assumes things are circular, which they arent. so how do I know the transfer window? and Idk how to use alexmoons thing so if someone could explain me that would be helpful
  9. Eeloo is often forgotten, it's cold, distant, and overshadowed by Jool. Well, it's time for Eeloo to get the attention it deserves. RULES: You cannot use any mods (that add or alter any parts) or cheats (alt+f12, editing the .config files), and you have to land the craft legitimately. The rover must detach, and from there, it's a race across the equator! Footage (even sped up) must be provided, and whoever makes it across the fastest (based on mission clock from rover detachment) wins. If you don't want to cross the equator, there's also the Polar challenge. --- LEADERBOARDS: EQUATOR: 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: --- POLAR: 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: ---
  10. Eeloo is a jerk! We all know that Eeloo was a Christmas gift from the Kerbal developers...right? Wrong! It was bored with it's life, so it decided to go and get captured by Kerbol! it went on a 3:2 Ratio to try to mess up Jool to get attention! It really is just a lump of ice going around the sun! It is secretly plotting to try to crash into Dres, because Dres gets way to much attention. Before it's too late, we must...... Attack Eeloo with everything we have! Download combat mods! Nuke Eeloo with everything we can! Destroy it! Run a 2000 ton ship into it! Do anything you can to destroy everything it holds dear. -an Eeloo hater
  11. Here is your goal: Get to Eeloo. Choose your own difficulty, as shown below. Easy: Get to Eeloo, land, with up to a 100 ton ship, only using .625 meter parts, with no Kerbals. Medium: Get to Eeloo, land, with up to a 25 ton ship, only using .625 meter parts, with 1 Kerbal. Hard: Get to Eeloo, land with up to a 10 ton ship, only using .625 meter parts, with 2 Kerbals. EXTREME: Get to Eeloo, land and orbit with one ship (That splits into a lander and probe), with up to 5 tons total, only using .625 meter parts, with 3 Kerbals. Try your best, and I can show some of my own attempts soon, once I get a successful one. Only one mod is allowed, and that mod is TweakScale, so you can have more of a variety of parts. When you finish, send me screenshots in the replies, and when you have Kerbals, plant a flag! Other mods that you can use are including all visual mods, and physics mods (except for OP mods). If you have the Kerbol Plus mod, try to land on the Comet with the varied difficulties applied. If you think this is a easy challenge in the Extreme mode, then land on all of the planets / moons with a .625 meter lander (rocket too), with no refuelling. If you have any suggestions, feel free to suggest them! Also, I was wondering if there was any suggestions on mods for this challenge that might work also. This is made for 1.0.5, but it should work for anyone that has 1.1 currently. Most complex design can be featured on my youtube channel (SpaceExplorator), which isn't a thrill because it would be my first video... but still it would be worth it to beat EXTREME with a super complex design!
  12. Kerbal on Eeloo In the UK, as many of you will know, a national signal that it is the start of Christmas is the release of the John Lewis Christmas advert. This year it was a heartwarming tale of an old man on the moon and a small girl determined to get a present to him. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to recreate the message in KSP, and so I did. I found it to be a really great opportunity to practice some new ideas and techniques, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it, and a Merry Christmas!
