  1. Thanks to KSP2's procedural wing system, an accurate recreation of the Horten-Ho-229 is finally possible! The aircraft struggles with takeoff, but glides well. If people want me to continue this project, I'll refine it, add more detail, and post the craft file! (Or you can play around with it now and go crazy) (Craft File download thingy link will be on my website soon! I'm sorting it out as we speak)
  2. DOBELONG'S FLYING EXPERIMENTS AND ETC.TM So after wandering the endless wastelands of the KSP forums, I've decided to make my first (official ) entrance into the thread base. And unfortunately, it is not in the fanfiction thread. Instead, I will be uploading various craft that I have built, and maybe place them up for download. This thread in particular is meant for aircraft that don't exactly conform to standard construction boundaries. Most of these use the goliath engine simply because of its high thrust and insanity value, and each aircraft has its unique quirks. One thing's for sure though; these planes certainly aren't boring! Packer X3 This is a fairly conforming design, but still manages to carry a fairly big payload size, thanks to its aerodynamic shell. All three major points of flight---control, lift, and thrust---would come together on December 17th, 1903 to produce a 120 foot long (36m), 12 second duration flight of a heavier-than-air machine, the first the world would ever see. It would spawn unbelievably rapid development---almost 50 years later, mach 2 would be surpassed. The only conventionally controlled surfaces were those affecting yaw and pitch; roll authority was given by putting torsional stress on the wings, also known as "wing warping" swjr-swis' craft description: " EVA the pilots and walk onto the top wing above the command seats, they’ll be in range to board them.   4. Hi everyone! Update 1.2 has just entered Experimentals! We’re eager to finally start the next phase of testing and getting ever closer to the 1.2 release. During experimental testing a crack team of experienced and hand-picked KSP players will throw everything they’ve got at the game to make it bend, blend and break in many ways. The goal is to catch as many bugs as we can, and to make the game as stable as it can be before we make a public test build available. Those of you who’ve been around for the 1.1 update will remember that we released a ‘pre-release’ test build for everyone to have a go before we officially released the update, and for update 1.2 we plan to do the same thing. Once the pre-release builds are available you’ll only be able to opt-in via the Steam betas, or through the KSP store. We hope you’re as excited as we are about the coming weeks. Just like the creator of the video (YouTube handle is TechyBen) I was interested by the unusual shapes of the tanks in the tutorial. I was actually so intrigued by them that I decided that I must find out what spacecraft they were from, and that I must make something like it to share with others in KSP. It took me a while but I did finally find out what proposed space vessel those fascinating tanks belonged to, and have also created the basic parts to make a vehicle similar to it's small first run version. It was the ROMBUS vehicle. THE ROMBUS Phil Bono of Douglas Space and Missiles Company (later McDonnell Douglas), designed the ROMBUS vehicle in the 1960's as part of what would become the Douglas Saturn Application Single Stage To Orbit or SASSTO vehicle concept. This vehicle was designed at the same time as the NEXUS booster and first ORION concepts. It had a much larger military based variant called ITHACUS and the PEGASUS was to be a civilian point to point sub-orbital model. this later spawned the HYPERION which later contributed to the PHOENIX B and it's developments eventually went into the very cool DELTA CLIPPER Project. Add animated covered parachute hatches to the top of the radial fuel tanks, so they can be used as a habitat when empty, like the original design. 2. Add limited emissive animation to the thrust ports on the engine, while maintaining the heat-shield animation ability. 3. Add texture switching and/or tank switching options via Firespitter or Interstellar Fuel Switch.
