  1. So, my RTX2060 maxes out at 30% on startup while I only get around 30 fps. There are also moments where fps drops to 15 and GPU usage drops to 10%. Similar things happen when I have a couple of vehicles next to me and I look at them, the usage drops along with the FPS. My Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 Rtx 2060 16GB RAM And my ksp is on SSD
  2. Can anyone help me with what/where this overylay is. I don't remember what setting adding a MOD or setting change for this as i hadn't played for a few months. I have uninstalled and deleted folders numerous times but it continue to shows. How do i remove?? Sorry can't figure out how to upload an image.... ugh In the upper left corner i have an overlay as soon as the program starts with CPU and GPU status
  3. I don’t have a great computer. It’s a intel i3 I think and I’m not sure about the graphics card. However, KSP with plenty of mods runs well. Will KSP 2 be more demanding?
  4. This is just a rant about KSP's memory and GPU/CPU usage. How good/bad do you think it is?Can it be improved? KSP isn't, by a long way, the most graphically taxing game out there. Compared to the kinds of graphics demands we see in other modern games - even on their lowest settings - the graphics demands in KSP are minimal by comparison, especially in vanilla. Which makes it so frustrating how this game can grind to a virtual halt just because you wanted to install one or two mods, or because you happened to have been playing for 5 hours straight. Even though my PC is at least 7 years old (2GB video RAM, 16GB of installed RAM, an i7 multicore processor) it still more than meets the game's current MINIMUM specifications as set by Squad. The fact an old bucket like mine can still run this game fairly well, even with many mods installed, says it all. But do I sound like an entitled little gamer when I say that if I have 7GB of RAM available (as shown in Task Manager) I expect the damn thing to be able to access it, and it can't. Even in 64-bit! Or perhaps this is still more of a Windows problem than a Unity problem? Or both? I just get the feeling that KSP could and should be able to run at least 60fps even with many mods installed, and it's frustrating that it doesn't. Depending on the scene I can get maybe 24-30fps (in v 1.6.0), but that depends heavily on how busy the scene is. While docking with a moderately sized station it can drop to 9-12fps (I thought 1.6.0 was suppose to improve multicore rendering for multiple ships, but I really can't see any difference); in maximum time warp I've seen it drop to 6fps and then shoot back up to 20 then back to 8. Indeed the framerate can be VERY inconsistent with frequent lag, and again I can't tell if it's my PC (toggling V-sync makes little difference, nor does setting a frame limit) , the mods, or the game engine. And please don't tell me to stick to vanilla; mods have defined this game just as they have defined SkyRim. Even Squad members themselves (Nova Silisco for example) contributed mods to this game. KSP just isn't appealing to me any more in vanilla, because I KNOW KSP can do so much better. The forums are always full of players suggesting or requesting new mods, especially visual enhancements, which says to me the community wants this game to be as good as it can be, and we really need to be asking if it is. Even after Unity5 and 64-bit mode were introduced. I'm not a programmer but I can't help feeling that despite the move to Unity5 and its undoubted improvements, KSP still isn't running at its full potential; and it feels as if it never will as long as it's still using Unity. Programmers, mod-makers feel free to disagree. My suggestion to Squad-Private Division: stop producing DLC and focus instead on continuing to improve how this game already uses available resources. No point in creating more 'stuff' for the game if in turn the game becomes so bloated and slow no-one can play it. No-one should need a StarCitizen-type setup to play this game satisfactorily, it ain't Star Citizen!
  5. I was wondering, does the KSP physics engine utilize the GPU processing capability and computational power? Or is it all CPU?
  6. Hello, I have an MSI PE60 6QE. It has a light on the power button that shows if it is using the onboard (orange) or discreet(blue) gpu. When I play any games the light is blue, except ksp. I've gone into Nvidia panel and set ksp to force discreet gpu and still no blue light. In fact, I've set the discreet gpu to run all visuals so the blue light is on at idle but when I start ksp it turns orange! While playing ksp the laptop gets very hot in the middle of the keyboard instead of near the touchpad as it does when playing games(gtav) that use discreet(blue light) gpu, further telling me it isn't using the correct gpu. Does any of this make sense? Does anyone else play with an MSI Laptop? Can I force it to use the good gpu any other way? Gpu? Thanks for reading, fly safe!
  7. Why does GPU utilization jump to 100% in Space Centre and VAB when it's barely 25% in tracking station and ~75% in flight? I'm not experiencing any problems because of this, but wanted to know whether it's a bug or expected behaviour.
  8. I have been trying to figure out which of my 111 mods or what would be causing my performance impact. I will be flying an 80 part craft and the game will freeze for minutes at a time sometime. My FPS usually averages 13-15. I also get frequent stutters in the VAB and Flight. I have been playing for years with mod levels near this ~90-120 and I do not remember it ever being this bad. The only time I remember getting very low FPS (4-7) was when I was at my 300+ part Minmus Base that used docking ports and landing gears. I checked and when I was playing, my CPU was redlining in flight and at about 80-90% capacity in the VAB. I have no launch options set. 9. Hello Not sure this is the right place to put this. Currently, I have an Intel Core i5-4440 and an AMD Radeon R9 200 Series. What should I upgrade to achieve a high FPS in-game? I have a lot of graphical mods installed like EVE and RealPlume etc, but I want to keep them. Thanks!
  10. Recently I ran into a performance issue - when flying a vessel and when in map view of an active vessel the frame rate drops to very low number (1 to 5 FPS) and my nvidia control panel shows very low GPU utilization. However, in the KSC and in Tracking Station the game is nice and smooth and GPU is properly utilized. In detail When I start the game, in the KSC the game runs fine and smooth and it is clearly using the GPU as can be seen from this image (GPU uitilization can be read in the left window): GPU utilization in KSC When I go to the tracking station, the game still runs fine and smooth and is also using GPU: GPU utilization in Tracking Station And now it begins. When I fly the vessel (or Melina as in this example), the game drops to about 1 to 5 FPS. The weirdest thing is that now the GPU is almost idle (it fluctuates between 0% and about 20%): GPU utilization flying a vessel. More to that, the debug window shows 25 FPS but that is not true, it is painfully laggy with about 1 to 5 FPS as I have already written. The same happens when I switch to map view - again about 1 to 5 FPS, again very low GPU utilization: GPU utilization in Map View. Again the 25 FPS in the debug window is not the real frame rate. However this behavior started only recently (a day or two, maybe? I'm not entirely sure). I have neither modified any mods nor the KSP itself. Maybe some system updates happened but I'm not sure about that (since I didn't track this as I found out about this problem just as it happened). 11. I currently have a windows 10 PC. Running 32 bit KSP and It gets super low frame rates while flying but runs perfectly in the SPH or VAB. There is low gpu usage while flying idling at 300mhz and drops to zero usage while flying. I have just upgraded my GPU from a R7 260X to a R9 380X and the card is good. It runs any other game I throw at it with no problems. This is the Steam version of the game it is a fresh install. PC specs: FX-8350 @ 4.2ghz 16 gb of ram R9 380X copy of output log:
