  1. Too long has stock Kerbol gone unloved. No longer will it sit at the center of the solar system, ugly and drab. With new high resolution textures, Scatterer support, and custom light curves, BetterKerbol attempts to remake Kerbol as eye candy worthy of pretty screenshots. Towards this end, the radius has also been tweaked by an imperceptibly tiny amount, to get around a quirk in KSPs engine. This change does not effect the orbits of the planets, as Kerbol's mass is unchanged. Experience the searing light of Kerbol as you approach the corona, or watch is it dims to a pale flicker as you travel beyond the orbit of Eeloo. Additionally, for those who desire a more realistically scaled Kerbol, that better aligns with stock scale, a optional patch is provided to reduce the radius of Kerbol by a factor of 4.24x Changelog v1.0.1 Fix optional rescale not applying Clean up readme Features Base 8k Photosphere and Corona textures A visual surface that aligns with the true surface, opening up the possibility for spectacular close passes Scatterer configs for close up corona glow and sky tint when in the Kerbolar atmosphere Custom light curves for starlight that realistically changes brightness with distance from Kerbol Optional Reduced radius by 4.24x, bringing Kerbol into line with the 1:10.63 scale of the rest of the Kerbal universe Notes Due to a long-standing bug with the way KSP calculates solar heat, temperatures near the surface are extreme, with radiant power density approaching infinity! Bring your exploit shielding or it's a one way trip! No sunflare is provided. If using Scatterer, pick your favorite sunflare mod, personally I recommend Sunflares of Maar. This is my first Mod, pls be gentle. 2. I was thinking about creating a planet pack for KSP Kopernicus from the KSP 2 planet pack discussion. It got me curious about how to draw biome maps because I see every planet packs to have biome maps per each planet.
  3. Very self-explanatory mod. It changes overall looks of Jool and adds a simple procedural wasteland beneath its clouds, making it into a new destination for your space frogs. It should run any visual packs, EVE, Scatterer, without problems, it has resources and other stuff normal Jool will get from mods. With pressure limits it will be even more interesting. --------------------------------------------------------- Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International ------------------------------------------------------ Suggested mods: Visual packs. Will add true clouds that can be seen from surface. EveEngines, ExplodiumBreathingEngines. Absolutely must have for flying there. Any mods with electric jets or propellers - RationalResources, KAX, you got it. Also, Jool remains ore-abundant with RationalResources so you won't run out of fuel If you feel need to touch it by Kopernicus patches(adding moons?), use JooI, not Jool (last letter is big "i") Have fun, report bugs! https://spacedock.info/mod/2967/JoolSurface https://github.com/hohmannson/jool_surface/releases Pics, clicks, stock EVE-less clouds. If someone doesn't like them or they a getting in the way of a visual mod, change fadestart, fadeend and deactivatealtitude to commented out values in Jool.cfg
  4. This project's goal: Create a monument to the KSP Community, A star cluster made entirely by members of the community. Rules Every User May submit a maximum of 2 Planets and 4 Moons per month Stars are Pre-Placed, But you may request a star type to be added, stars will be added as systems fill up Be Kind, Everyone is at a different experience level, so please do not act in a way that is only meant to hurt the feelings of others, or pointless complaining/insulting of another's work Help Others, If someone is asking for help, help them if you can, if you cannot, refer them to someone who can For a submission you must include within the Zip File : Your Planet Configs, Your Planet's Heightmap, And Your Planet's ColorMap, Normals can also be provided, but if not, will be produced as implementation occurs, You need to make the planet. Make it interesting, the more varied the submissions, the better, if you have some amazing idea, do it, we will get a spot to place it. Every Person who submits a planet/moon will get credit for their work, All Usernames will be placed within the mod DO NOT take configs, parts of configs, or maps from other mods, if we find out it is stolen, you will be removed from the contributors list and the planets in question will be removed Systems - Systems will be set up as planets are suggested, and will be filled out below as it goes on, upon completion of a system, it will be released, Systems will have 3-5 planets and 6-10 moons Lelon - An F7V Star About halfway through it's life Maldos A-B - A Close binary between a G3V Star and a M0V Star, Planets orbit both stars at once Blubol - A singular K4V Star, Habitable zone is closer to the star as a result. >Retol - 1000 km gas dwarf orbiting Blubon at around Duna's orbit - ffx >Oloa - 250 km Duna like moon but its colored minty blue from rusted copper - ffx >Gul - 19 km marron astroid - ffx Planets will be placed within these systems, As Systems fill up, more will be added to make more space, the more systems, the better. If this goes well, and we make it to 10+ systems, we will continue both development of this, and a follow up with the improved skills of everyone involved.
  5. Since this is the first result on google i wanted to make something clear, this is not the full mod The full mod is being worked on here: Endless expanse: DOT-33 is the first part of an eventual galaxy. The current system (DOT-33) is a binary star system consisting of a yellow dwarf and an orange dwarf, each with their own system. So, will you be able to survive the endless expanse? https://spacedock.info/mod/2936/Endless Expanse: DOT-33 To all of the people who supported me during development, thank you. 9. Precursors Version: 1.7.1 - ODYSSEY UPDATE OVERVIEW The discovery of mysterious SSTV signals originating from Duna was a monumental leap in the search for intelligent life. Deciphering these signals revealed The Ignotum System, a previously undiscovered solar system 3 light years from Kerbin. Having recently mastered interstellar travel and hibernation technologies, the Kerbals were quick to launch an expedition to this new system. The trip ran smoothly, but upon arrival... … Alone among the stars, you are the future of the expedition. Rediscover ancient rocketry and flight technologies as you explore a vast, handcrafted solar system. Uncover the secrets behind the SSTV signals and the alien race that created them. Precursors is a planet pack designed to provide a fresh and exciting experience to players. Stranded on a cold and barren world, traverse highly detailed celestial bodies and never-before-seen environments. Each planet and moon has a distinct challenge and appearance; hike across scalding volcanic mountains, maneuver through massive forests, and battle against relentless gravity on your journey across the Ignotum System. Collect custom science reports and unearth extensive lore in this continuation of the Kerbal Space Program story. Contents Over 20 highly detailed celestial bodies to explore 1,000+ custom science reports across all bodies Fleshed-out biomes on all celestial bodies Intricate lore and story components Custom flags, loading screens, and more Easter eggs galore! 10. So @Misguided Kerbal made the original Valor mod but it has died and he put the mod up for revival, after a while i decided to take it and revived it SpaceDock: https://spacedock.info/mod/2866/Valor Planet Pack Revived?ga=<Game+3102+'Kerbal+Space+Program'> No pic, no click, here you go Screenshot with scatterer System plan/system arrangement To do list Dependencies Kopernicus and its stuff Anyway lets go to the Q&A Q: Is Valor compatible with OPM? A: Yes! Q: Is Valor compatible with MPE? A: Yes! Minor Planet Expansion is compatible and recommended! Q: Is Valor compatible with (Insert Planet Pack Here that's not listed above) A: I don't know. Valor Revived is licensed with GPLv3 Change logs Special Thanks to: @Misguided Kerbal for creating the mod in the first place, @The Minmus Derp for fixing the OPM patch, @Kerbal Productions, making the scatter images
  11. This mod is no longer under active development. Do not download this mod. If you wish to download the component bodies, visit the original mod: The new bodies previously part of this mod (Doppler, Palloocus, etc.) are now part of their own planet pack.
  12. I got inspired by a few things. Gameslinx, a bucket of rocks, and TWG's Arkas development. I've thus decided that I would like to learn and experiment with Kopernicus every day (i can) for 365 days, starting August 11th, 2021. My goal is simple. Make a planet pack that's enjoyable and way over the top, that's compatible with some other big names, *cough cough* OPM *cough cough* and overall just a fun learning experience. For the first few days before the challenge begins, I'm going to try to expand my small brain to fit the universe of Kopernicus inside of it and teach myself the basics so I can make something neat. Any help would be appreciated. Day One; My Birthday: I kicked off this self-proclaimed-challenge with a bang, (or maybe a boom?) Huge thanks to TheWhiteGuardian for helping me along thusfar, I probably bore him to death. After over two hours, plenty of help, and trying to figure out how to convert files from .txt to .cfg, I successfully Created DAWN! the center of my new system. Until I get a home planet made, Dawn will be orbiting Kerbol at a really safe distance (so I don't have to look at it unless I want to) I also started work on a small planet named Prova. Day Two: Today was very busy, with school and some exercise. I had very little time to work on anything today. I started on a gas giant (~7x Jool's size) that will be white with gold accents running through it (and maybe a thin, highly inclined ring from a munar collision) I'm only about halfway done with the config file of it. Maybe I can finish it tomorrow.
  13. I'm trying my hand at making a planet for KSP and have been getting lots of problems. first, here is an image of what I'm talking about when I say the planet surface is loading badly: image, image, image Secondly, when viewing the planet in Scaled Space, the sunlight is lighting the incorrect side of the planet (as you can see in this image) Thirdly, it appears the textures for my planet are not loading in Scaled Space (and look even worse in flight), even though I have them linked in the config. I'll be honest, all my maps are the same texture because I'm super bad at texturing and wanted something quick to just make sure the planet was working (they're all grayscale heightmaps, but I figured that wouldn't be an issue. I'd just have a black-and-white planet). Fourthly, my heightmap isn't effecting my planet's height mesh very much. Is there a way to increase the effect of my heightmap. I'll also include an image of my heightmap (which is also the same as my normal and texture maps) https://imgur.com/b2Zspyp and a copy of my config here in a spoiler bar. I have the Biome classes defined but currently do not have a biome map. My PQS mods are simply copy and pasted from this tutorial My guess is that the issue is in my PQS mods, but I really have no idea what I'm doing with those I'll also add, I am using Wilbur to get the height map, GIMP to edit it, and Visual Studio to config
  14. Oh hai. This is a basic planet pack so far that adds a Near-Kerbin binary asteroid, Doppler-Dyva, a Pallas-like two-toned potato, Quazen, and four binary Jool trojans. Basically asteroids not filled by niches such as Minor Planets Expansion. Download here on SpaceDock. This was the old picture of Doppler, once named Onor (please don't deadname it). It's a relic of my past and how I've improved. Requirements: Kopernicus ModuleManager A good computer
  15. Threads of the Month: April 2023 Edition Kcalbeloh System is a planet pack adding an entirely new black hole system with 30 unique celestial bodies, including a super-massive black hole, 4 stars, 15 planets, and 10 moons and asteroids, each with its own unique set of challenges and features. This planet mod provides a diverse range of environments for Kerbals to explore, such as a planet with surface torn apart by tidal force, binary gas giants with multiple moons, a planet tidally locked by its parent star, and a small moon with a twisted surface. Like the movie Interstellar, there are also a pair of wormholes available for Kerbals to jump between Kerbol system and Kcalbeloh system, adding another layer of exploration and excitement. If you're looking for an exciting and rewarding space adventure, Kcalbeloh System is an excellent addition to Kerbal Space Program, providing tens or even hundreds of hours of entertainment. I really appreciate everyone who has followed this mod. Also thanks to everyone who has provided suggestions, bug reports, or any other forms of help. Also, if you have a cool idea and want to contribute to this project, feel free to let me know. Get ready to blast off into the cosmos and embark on a thrilling journey through the Kcalbeloh System. 16. Kerbinary is a mod I developed to rearrange the solar system in new and interesting ways. It has the main feature of having not 1, not 2, not 3, but . . . Hold on. Only 3 binary systems? For a mod called KerBINARY! Anyway, you might be able to expect some planetary revamps in the far future, but don't count on it. 18. Random Main Menu Bodies What Is RMMB? RMMB is a literally useless mod but makes the game 0.01% better. What Does RMMB Do? RMMB makes the main menu of KSP a little bit better. By default, Kerbin is in the background of the main menu but now, all planets have a chance to be seen in the main menu. Screenshots (Using Astronomers Visual Pack): Known Bugs: Small Moons/Planets not being able to be seen until the 'Start Game' screen. 19. Crankyjedi's Planet Pack: What CPP does: CPP adds in to the game 2 celestial bodies with high resolution textures and ground textures. The 2 bodies that it adds is made up of a planet named Brainwash and its moon named Ren. Brainwash sits in-between Dres and Jool. The Future of CPP: I am currently working on making more planets and moons for this planet pack and plan to continually update it with new things being fixed, updated, or added every couple of weeks. The current body that I am working on will be a gas giant and will sit in the far edges of the Kerbol system. 20. I am back again and I am pleased to announce a new Planet Pack, yet again. But this one is special, its a remake of my first Planet Pack, The New Crew. Now, you might have noticed, the mod's name is quite misleading, and that's why It is now renamed the Alpharia planet Pack(BTW there is no planet called Alpharaia, It's only called that as it was a remake of my first planet pack and just Alpha sounded boring) Download: https://spacedock.info/mod/2751/Alpharia Planet Pack (The New Crew Reloaded)?ga=<Game+3102+'Kerbal+Space+Program'> Compatible with KSP Version: 1.12.1, 1.11.1 Content(For now) 2 Planets(1 rocky world, 1 Gas giant) 1 Dwarf Planet 9 moons(1 around the Rocky planet,6 around the Gas giant, 2 around the Dwarf planet) Also if you are doing a review for this planet pack, the difficult to pronounce name will have pronunciations in the brackets in the info pannel( also in the pack the syllable "Cy" is pronounced as "Sai") Some Cool shots of the Pack Dependencies Kopernicus(along with everything else in the Kopernicus.zip file) MIT by Thomas P. I am trying to use Real Solar System in KSP, but if RRS and Kopernicus are both in the Gamedata directory, the starter loading screen with the pictures and everything happens, then it goes to the solar system in the bottom right corner loading screen forever... I have been using RRS without the planet textures but it's really not the same. Please help. Thanks!

  25. Hello everyone! The KSP Forums have a wealth of great resources for how to develop your own planet pack. But despite these resources, planet making can still be a very confusing process. This page is for people who are new to or curious about Kopernicus and planet-making in KSP. Anyone can contribute questions regarding the subject matter, and other developers are welcome to help answer those questions. Before posting a question here, I highly recommend you check out the following page: I will try to help whenever I can. I might not know the answers to some things: I have been developing my first planet pack for 5 months now, but I still have much to learn
