  2. EDIT: Looked around the KSP bug tracker and it seems Unity3D requires pulseadio. Fixed it by using kspflo's pulsenomore program. Origional post: When starting KSP.x86_64 it shows a black screen and then just crashes. In therminal it says this: The player.log says this:
  3. Hello, I am using Ubuntu 14.04, with an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 (2.4 GHz x4), with 8Gb of RAM, and a GeForce 720 card. With a fairly heavily modded game in 1.0.5, I was able to get a steady framerate of about 30fps (on highest settings). Now with a stock game in 1.1, I am struggling to get above 20 with lowest settings, and it fluctuates wildly. Even the loading screen is choppy. Also, even on 64bit, the game is refusing to use any more than 4Gb of RAM. I thought that this upgrade to Unity 5 was supposed to increase the performance. Any help?
  4. I have a career-mode game I started in 1.0.5. Tonight I upgraded to 1.1. I currently have several vessels on the Mun, one of which is a landed orbiter and another is a fuel truck. The fuel truck has a claw on the front. When I ram the fuel truck into the orbiter, the two vessels "dock" and can be managed as one. However, when I click on a fuel tank, hold down right shift, and then click on another compatible fuel tank, the in/out buttons do not show up. Repeated attempts to do this do not result in success. However, if I use [ or ] to switch to a nearby vessel and then switch back immediately, I am able to see the fuel transfer buttons and perform a fuel transfer as expected. OS: Ubuntu 14.04. Video: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 630] (rev a1) KSP 64-bit. build id = 01230 2016-04-19_19-27-15
  5. I have a problem in that for some reason, the game doesn't register my use of the "Alt" key, neither for bringing up the Debug menu or to duplicate parts in the editor. I have checked, and the key works fine on my other pc or when I'm out of the game. The functions of that key don't seem to be listed in the rebind section of the options menu, so I don't know how to rebind it. I'm running the linux version on SteamOS. Please let me know what to do here
  6. Hello, I am encountering crashes when using the 3.75m decoupler (Ven's Stock Revamp is installed), and it only occurs when using that one. No matter the altitude or time, it just causes a game crash. I have a .zip folder with my log file and some screenshots of my GameData folder. Thanks
  7. CC @Crzyrndm - Didn't want to clog up your release thread with this. KSP: 1.0.5. - 1028 OS: Ubuntu 14.04 64bit - Proprietry NVidia Drivers I have a very heavily modded 64bit Linux Install that loads up perfectly fine and is playable, but a soon as I add FilterExtensions to the mix (almost required due to the number of parts I have) it crashes about 10 seconds into the load. I've tried with both a CKAN install and manual install and it seems to failing loading the icons according to the logs. It works perfectly fine with just Stock 1.0.5 + FilterExtensions so there is obviously some conflict somewhere with one of the other many mods I have. It may be a problem with FilterExternsions, or something else I'm not sure, but it only occurs with FE installed. I've attached the log files and below is my modlist. Now I know this is much to go on yet, what I was hoping was if you could point me in the direction of some mods to try removing from the list of 100+ below that are likely to be conflicting, so I can try to bisect the conflict. Logs: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dorz0nx2z4vesej/FIltExtBugLogs.zip?dl=0 Modlist: Thanks in advance for any help anyone gives. Edit: I've started doing some bisecting anyway and found that FE + Chatterer cause the problem. Removing Chatterer allows it to load to the start, but Stock + FE + Chatterer seems to work fine, so maybe there is third party involved. Will keep bisecting down! Edit 2: So now I'm confused after some more bisecting, I thought Hullcam VDS might be involved for a little while as uninstalling it allowed Chatterer + FE to work happily together, but I don't think so as reinstalling it and they still all work happily together. So now it might have been one of the 30 or so Mods I removed 1 by 1 before that. :/ I'm just gonna put this down to KSP going a bit weird when you pile it high with mods. I can live without Chatterer in favour of FE. If anyone has any particular insight feel free to let me know, but otherwise consider this resolved.
  8. for some reason, im using alot of mods and the shift button just is not working in editor. holding it while pressing W, A, S, or D, will not decrease angle increment size too 5 degrees, like it should, or 15 degrees or whatever it was. it looks like it increments 5/15 degrees for a second, then rotates the full 90 degrees. i dont remember adding any new mods, except hangar grid, but that mod does not modify angle increments at all. is it editor extensions?
  9. Hey guys, So, its been a while since I've been active on this website, and, honestly, the only reason I'm posting here as opposed to an official Linux forum is convenience. This account already exists so I might as well use it. Here's the deal: I have an old computer (Windows XP era) that I am attempting to install Linux on for my father to use for web browsing and potentially document writing (LibreOffice is included). The old HDD was an 80GB WD IDE drive with Windows XP SP3 + all updates on it. Honestly, I'm kind of attached to XP, so I didn't want to wipe it. Since the HDD was so small, I decided to get a second one; this one is a SATA-based 1TB WD Blue. I have purchased adapters and installed all of the new hardware - I also tested everything and it is confirmed functional; there are no hardware errors and the original Windows XP install still functions correctly. So I know everything is okay as of this point. Now here's the issue: every time I attempt to install a Linux distro, I get a different graphical error. I have tried multiple distros, multiple editions of each distro, and I even went as far as to burn a CD to install from. All of this to no avail. I thought that maybe the mounted distros were corrupted, so I attempted to live boot on a laptop and it worked correctly, so that's not the issue. Then I thought that my 16GB USB was too large for the old hardware to handle, so I re-mounted the ISO on a 4GB stick; same issue. I honestly don't know what to do anymore, if I can't install Linux on this machine, its only really good for nostalgia. Windows XP, as much as I love it, is simply not a viable option for a computer that is mainly in existence for web browsing, especially since its for an old man who doesn't really have a handle on what is / isn't a virus. For anyone who may be able to help me, I want to describe the errors. Keep in mind that it cannot be a hardware issue since Windows XP runs just fine. Now, on boot to either the LiveOS or directly to the installer, I see many horizontal lines shooting across the screen. All of the elements present appear to "jump" up and down, almost as if the monitor is breaking. The graphical glitches vary from distro to distro, oddly enough. For example, Zorin OS (Windows 7 -like) experiences this "jumping" most aggressively. I tried the Core (Standard) and Light editions of Zorin OS and they experienced the same trouble. Conversely, LXLE (a very light OS designed for old computers; Lubuntu - based) DOES experience this "jump," but more evidently displays vertical bars. These bars seem to have been lifted from the left side of the screen and dropped to the right (and vice - versa). The effect is that a window in the middle of the screen will be missing slices that will appear, magically almost, translated several inches to the left and / or right of the screen. These bars even update in real time. Now, I don't know how helpful that was, but I tried my best. I just have one last thing to say: on boot, I receive errors from the terminal, I don't know what they mean - its all gibberish to me. I have recorded my screen when they popped up, however, so I'm going to copy it all out over here. Hopefully, someone can make sense of it: [ 34.044144] sis630_smbus 0000:00:02.0: SIS630 compatible bus not detected, module (the screen cut off at this point, the rest of this line cannot be read, unfortunately) [ 36.758384] ata3.00: exception Emask 0x100 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 36.758403] ata3.00: failed command: SET FEATURES 36.758416] ata3.00: cmd ef/05:fe:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/40 tag 0 36.758416] res 51/04:fe:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/40 Emask 0x1 (device error) 36.7584534] ata3.00: status: { DRDY ERR } That's all. I really hope someone could lend a hand. Thanks.
  10. So, I've been doing some vague benchmarking to see how I can get the best performance from KSP. To that end, I have been using Kerbokatz' FPS Viewer and Physical Time ratio viewer to see how the game is running under different platforms. I've got KSP installed on Windows Vista and Linux (Ubuntu 15.04). I flew the Dynawing stock craft, and watched the reported Physical Time ration, and here are the results: Physical time ratio, using a physics time step of 0.02. (Higher is better). Windows Vista, DX9: ~58% Windows Vista, DX11: ~50% Linux x64, OpenGL: ~50% Windows Vista, OpenGL: ~35% So, with my hardware, DX9 gets the best performance (though at the cost of higher memory usage as others have discussed). DX11 and Linux OpenGL, and Windows OpenGL is significantly worse. Another thing I noticed: Under DX11 and OpenGL, the performance drops to about 25% at the default zoom, but if I zoom out just a bit (so the craft fills about 1/2 the screen vertically) the performance increases to the above values. This doesn't happen on DX9. It performed the same regardless. Lastly, Physical Time Ratio Viewer has an option to display the physics time-step. I noticed that if I increase the physical time-warp, the physics time step goes up proportionally, but then doesn't come back down when reducing the physics time warp. The effect on performance is noticeable, so I don't think it is just the mod not recording it correctly. It seems like the mod is getting it right, and the game isn't resetting the physics time-step when warping down. Computer specs, for the curious: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 overclocked to 3.78GHz; Nvidia GTX 960, playing at 1080p with a few graphics mods (EVE, scatterer, Real Plume). Anyway, these are just some observations I made. Maybe they'll help someone else figure out how they want to run their setup.
  11. My problem is: I have installed various environmental enhancement mods: EVE, Stock visual enhancements, scatterer, Planet shine and Collision FX. Both planet shine and collision FX are working fine however EVE, Stock visual enhancements and scatterer are not working at all. In the loading screen I see their textures load but in-game I don't see any effects. I am running linux mint 64 bit I suspect it is a problem with graphics drivers because the same mods worked fine in my windows install. Thanks to anyone willing to help
  12. Hello, I have recently upgraded my System and now I tried getting KSP running again. I tried starting the game, but it crashes on the startup loading screen. I am running the 64bit version on ubuntu 64bit. I start KSP by running this ksp.sh: After i run the .sh, this is the terminal output: My system: Intel Core i7 6700k 16GB DDR4 memory Sapphire R9 390X 8GB I have a lot of mods installed, but my system should be able to handle it: The Player.log: If anything is missing, just tell me. I hope you guys can help me - I love this game :-)
  13. I have a modded install of KSP on Linux running 64-bit. I cant seem to get the debug menu to open, no matter what hotkey combination I use. I've remapped my keybindings in linux so that it uses the right ALT as opposed to the left, and modified the KSP settings.cfg to change the MODIFIER_KEY primary = LeftAlt So far Ive tried LeftAlt+F12, rightshift+F12, Fn+leftalt+f12, Fn+rightshift+F12, and all of the same combinations with the RightAlt just to make sure. Absolutely nothing happens, does anyone have any leads on a fix? EDIT: I answered my own question. In my case I had to hit RightShift+LeftAlt+F12 in that order for it to work. Maybe (but unlikely) this will help someone else one day.
  14. I'm running Ubuntu 14.10, 64 bit. I've installed Linux compatible Steam, as well as the Linux compatible version of Kerbal Space Program. I've ran into a very interesting glitch. When I launch the game, it's full screen by default, but the resolution is off. I'm on a 4:3, and it's scaled to 16:9. Now, that's fine, whatever. It loads all the parts just fine. The main issue is when I get to the main menu. None of the buttons are currently functioning. The courser rapidly flickers as well. I've tried alt-tabbing around to see if maybe something pulled me out of the game and was causing issues, but that wasn't the case. After a restart, the problem is persisting. I've also tried going to my install folder under steam, and changing the resolution through the windows (I believe it's windows, I had to use Wine) launcher, but that didn't seem to effect my actual game in any way, the odd resolution persisted, as did the unusable menu. If any one else has ran into this and has a solution I'd be very grateful. If anyone could provide any solutions at all it would be greatly appreciated. I'm able to give any information you need in fixing my issue. Thank you so much in advance for any help.
  15. for some reason , ksp just stoped starting up for absolutely no reason. .dll files that used to work absolutely fine just stopped working, giving errors in the ksp.log . there was even a mod i dont remember, at all, adding in, and it had a .dll that stopped the game from loading up. now i fixed what appeared to be everything in the ksp.log file, but it still just doesent work. any help? here is ksp.log : https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=3315713F440A6017!297&authkey=!ALELOB0Osvv4NWY&ithint=file%2clog
