  3. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of the last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: “Visit Eve's atmosphere! " Challenge: -Make a manned atmospheric diving craft, capable of hauling a small cargo to Eve. -Build a rocket capable of delivering this craft to the orbit of Eve, or make it SSTO. -Dive into the atmosphere of Eve. Try to dive as deep as possible, then return to a stable orbit. -Drop the cargo onto the surface of Eve. (1. You can seperate the cargo from ship while in orbit, or for the extra challenge you can do that while doing the atmospheric dive. 2. The cargo itself can be anything, without limits to its size or mass.) -Return to Kerbin. Atmospheric Diving Craft standards: -Carries more than 4 kerbals, exactly 4 also counts. -Can dive into the atmosphere of Eve. -Carries scientific instrumentation. Extra: -Can maneuver in the atmosphere of Eve using wings or RCS. -Can land on Kerbin. Rewards: -Special Posters for your mission made by @cratercracker (It might take time) -Badge. (Granted) You can also do the Lancer mission! 4. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of the last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: Lithobraking! The objective is to land on the Mun, Minmus, etc. with no engines run after 1000 meters radar altitude, and safely landing by using parts, etc. to dampen the crash as a sort of airbag, e.g. use some empty fuel tanks or structural parts to slow yourself down. Mods: Any mods with realistic crash tolerance are okay Scoring: 10 points for crashing at less than 150 m/s, 25 for successfully landing 50 for lithobraking against a mun arch or regular monolith 75 for lithobraking against a Randolith/ Green Meanie. Bonuses for what body you land on: Mun/Minmus/Gilly/Jool's moons(except Laythe): none. Moho/Dres: 5 points. Eeloo: 10 points. Duna/Laythe: 15 points. Kerbin: 20 points. Eve: 25 points, meaning lithobraking against a Randolith/Green Meanie on Eve is a perfect 100. Extra: Flying there manually(not required): 20 points. Thanks to @Mrcarrot for making this challenge possible! You will have two weeks for this challenge and will get a special badge! Have fun!
  5. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of the last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: “Target Practice! " The holidays are over, and it's time to get back to work. Jebediah was gifted a wonderful little cabin during the holidays, he liked it so much he made two copies and put one on Minmus and one on The Mun. But, Jebediah is a restless kerbal and an adrenaline junkie , and gets tired of too much leisure (ie: more than 5 minutes without any danger), so he decided that in order to get everyone's attention, he would build a rocket and launch it to try to hit as close to his cabin as possible. Challenge Goal In an unmanned vessel (ok, if you really want to kill somebody, you can), launch a rocket to either the Mun or Minmus, targeted at the cabin which is on each at Longitude 0, Latitude 0. The goal is to impact the surface as close to the cabin as you can Rules The vessel can have two boost phases, the first to get to orbit, the second to inject it into an intersection course with the target. Once the boost phases are done, decouple anything you want, this will be the last time decoupling is allowed Extra points if you do it all in a single launch. Even more points if it is a single stage Download the save file from this URL or, use HyperEdit to move a target to coordinates 0,0 on your desired target planet. If you do, the target cannot be bigger than 6m in any direction (6 of the M-1x1 panels). As a reference, Jeb's cabin is 5x6m All mods are allowed, except HyperEdit and VesselMover Make sure that the target you are aiming for is selected as the target before impact You are allowed to use SAS to point to the target, to make it easier to show on screen for the pics. Just no thrusting of ANY kind (including stage separators) is allowed. Post pics of the launch, interplanetary injection and either the moment of impact or just before impact. Make sure that the target is shown, that way you will see the distance. Note that the distance to the target will be shown even after the impact, if the target is close enough Scoring 1 point if you launch a rocket 1 point if it leaves Kerbin orbit 5 points if you enter the SOI of the target planet, not counted if you impact the planet One of the following (whichever is higher): - 10 points if you impact ANYWHERE on the target planet. - 15 points if you impact within 100Km of the target - 100-distance (in Km) from the target - 125 points if within 1 Km of the target - 150 points if you actually hit the target Achievements 1 point - I tried 2 points - Lost 7 points - Lost In Space 12 points - Broad side of the Barn 17 points - Outer Limits 18-125 points - Marksman 127 points - Expert Marksman 152 points - Bullseye We will have special badges for the first challenge of the year! Thanks to @linuxgurugamer for making this challenge possible! Share your screenshots, videos or images. We want you to have fun and share it with the whole community!
  6. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of the last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: “A Very Kerbal Kerismus Challenge! " HO HO HO and Merry Kerismus to one and all! Yes; it’s that time of year again when all the good little Kerbals come together to celebrate not getting all blow-ded up! Scoring According to Kerismus tradition, points for this challenge will be assigned randomly based on a secret formula involving rolled dice, imaginary numbers, negative 1/12th, and outright bribery! In addition to this totally fair and unbiased point system, there are 4 achievement badges that can be earned! You have 3 weeks for this challenge. Requirements for achieving each badge of honor are as follows: 1. Better to Give Than to EXPLODE! Jeb, Bob, Bill, and Val have all been very good little kerbals this year and deserve something extra special! Design a Kerismus Gift for one of these four kerbals that meets all of the following criteria: Given each of their unique skill sets and personalities, create a special gift that you know they will just love! You can only make one gift for one of the Kerbals The gift has to be transferable from one craft to another The gift must use all stock parts To earn the achievement badge: Post a picture of your gift (remember you can only submit one) Tell us which Kerbal your gift is for and why they will love it! Optional: Remember, “T’is better to give, than…” So, provide a link and share your gift with others participating in the challenge 2. O’ Minmus Tree, O’ Minmus Tree How min-ty are your bran-ches! Ahhh yes… The lighting of the Minmus Tree!! Nothing rings in the holidays quite like the sights and sounds of a giant tree-shaped rocket blasting into space! Kickoff the holiday season by designing a Minmus Tree that meets all of the following criteria: It should look like… um… a tree? It should have a place on top for an “ornament” to be attached Do not attach the ornament! Some lights might be good? Any part mods are allowed and encouraged! To earn the achievement badge, post 4 pictures: The night launch of your Minmus Tree from the KSC While in orbit (somewhere) deliver and attach the ornament Land your Tree on Minmus Hold a Minmus Tree lighting ceremony 3. Wee Three Kings Dis-oriented are… Bearing gifts, we traverse afar… Indeed at least three wise kings and queens have posted some strange and wondrous gifts! We can’t let 3 of our most favorite-est kerbals go without gifts now can we? You made one gift for one kerbal now go shop for the rest of em! Find a gift that someone else made for your kerbals that do not have gifts The gift has to be one that was designed specifically for your kerbal and noted somewhere on this challenge thread Starting at the KSC transport the gifts aboard a magnificent sleigh (or rocket) and place them under or near your Minmus Tree Any part mods are allowed and encouraged! Document your adventures as you see fit but include at least one pic of all the wonderful gifts under your Minmus Tree 4. A Kerismus Miracle! T’was the night before Kerismus, and just before launch… Not a creature was stirring, and so… nothing had exploded yet! Kerismus Eve is a special time. It’s also a pretty special place. Let’s not forget about our poor little stranded friend: Kringle Kerman Earn the “Kerismus Eve” achievement by: Spreading a little holiday joy with a trip to Eve Bring along a gift that you acquired or created and deliver it safely (undamaged) to the surface to put a smile on Kringle’s face …and the achievement would qualify as a true “Kerismus Miracle!” if: Your gift and/or associated stock lander that you made was able to get poor little Kringle back into orbit! Special thanks to @XLjedi for sharing this awesome idea! We will be sharing the badges as we have them ready Share your screenshots, videos or images. We want you to have fun and share it with the whole community!

  8. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of the last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: “ Destroy the KSC Challenge " The goal is simple: Destroy the KSC using as few and as low cost parts as possible in a single launch. You can use an airplane Most mods are acceptable, if you want to use them (Please mention which ones you are using, the costs need to be similar to stock for a mod to be allowed) There will be three types of scoring, one for number of parts, and one for lowest cost. Number of parts Lowest cost Combined Number of parts & lowest cost Scoring: For each building destroyed: +50 For each part used: -10 For the cost: -(cost / 50) and there will be a Judges Choice, for the most imaginative, which will be purely subjective. Scoreboard Fewest Parts Lowest cost Combined Share your entries and you will have a special badge created by @cratercracker! Thanks to @linuxgurugamer for making this challenge possible! This challenge ends on Wednesday, November 29!!!!!
  9. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of last challenge! First I want to apologize for not posting this challenge before, but here it is: “ Brick from Orbit Challenge " Easy Mode: Land with no parachutes. (engines and wings allowed) from orbit Intermediate Mode: Land with no parachutes or engines. Hard Mode: Land with nothing but the probe (this includes batteries and solar panels)from orbit Impossible Mode: You can use wings, but have to land from orbit of Eve Super Mode: Impress me Note: If I don't specifically say you can't use a part, you can use it. You can use whatever you want to deorbit, but will have to decouple once on a sub-orbital trajectory SCORING: There is a point system out of ten. For each 0.1 ton (other than probe, of course) you lose 3 points You get 1 point for being on same continent as KSC 2 for being within sight of it 5 for being in grounds of KSC 7 for runway/launchpad 15 for on top of VAB or under R&D Bridge ***Points don't add up ****For Impossible Mode you lose 1 point for every 0.2 ton or 100 units of ablator (You can use heatshields) Share your screenshots, videos or images showing suborbital trajectory, re-entry, about to land(~5km), and landing. Feel free to add anything else! We want you to have fun and share it with the whole community! Special thanks to @JK_Kerbineer for making this challenge possible
  10. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: “Eve Speed Challenge " This is a challenge of speed to Eve and back back to Kerbin SOI. We will have just 5 winners according to the best times, they will receive a special badge. You have 2 weeks for this challenge! You can try as many times as you want. Rules From the launchpad to Eve - When you start the flight the countdown begins - Just "Fly by" Fastest game time No Mods and no modded parts No refueling Share your screenshots, videos or images. We want you to have fun and share it with the whole community!
  11. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: "The Atari Challenge" Capture at least 2 asteroids with a single vessel, single launch from Kerbin. Score is tallied by the total mass of all asteroids captured. To determine score, after capturing your asteroids, check your mass on the map screen's info button. This is your Total Mass. Now release all asteroids and check mass again. This is your Vessel Mass. Now subtract Vessel Mass from Total Mass. This is your Base Score. (Please no decoupling all the parts of your ship before checking mass) To encourage capturing of multiple asteroids, a bonus of 100% of your Base Score will be added for each asteroid beyond the minimum 2. Example: Player 1 has 2 asteroids and a Base Score of 120. This is his Final Score. Player 2 has 4 asteroids and a base score of 60. Player 2 then receives a 60 point bonus for asteroid 3 and another 60 point bonus for asteroid 4. Player 2's Final Score is 180. In this way, a greater number of small asteroids can be worth more than a smaller number of larger asteroids. Rules: Stock parts and physics. Stock-alike parts are fine, but no OP engines, exotic fuels, or light-weight tanks and structural parts (keep it fair, please). No docking with anything that was not a part of the original launch (except asteroids ). ISRU is fine, and will probably be necessary. However, each unit of ore taken from an asteroid will reduce its mass and thereby lower your score. There will obviously be a lot of warping to capture multiple asteroids, but try to share your screenshots, videos or images. @cratercracker has made an awesome badge for this challenge. You guys are really gonna like it. So good luck and have fun! Thanks to @Cpt Kerbalkrunch for sharing this great idea and making it possible! **** YOU HAVE ONE MORE WEEK this challenge will end on August 30 ****
  12. Hello everyone, Check out the amazing and creative entries of last challenge! This week we have another theme for you: "The Mun Arch Speed Challenge" How fast can you go through a Mun Arch? What? You don't know where to find a Mun Arch? That's part of the challenge! You have two weeks for this challenge Rules: 1. The usual stock parts only, no hyperedit, no alt-F12, and no wheels. Comm-link not required 2. You can start your speed run from the Munar surface or from space. 3. Fly through one of the three Mun Arches as fast as you can! 4. Due to the limitations of the EVA pack, EVA-powered kerbals are expendable. Crafts will be expected to finish the pass climbing for space. No suicide runs except for individual kerbals. 5. No scoring aside from pure speed! 6. Kerbals in command seats count as crewed craft. Categories: A: EVA Kerbal. B: Uncrewed spacecraft C: Crewed spacecraft D: Asteroid (with or without attached craft) Video entries are preferred. Win10 has a built in game recorder, and there are free screen-recording programs like "OBS" or "Fraps" out there. Also, coub.com hosts looping ten-second videos that would be perfect for this (KSP had a contest there awhile back). We want you to have fun and share it with the whole community! Thanks to @StrandedonEarth for sharing this idea! We have a special badge for this challenge!
  13. Hello everyone, We are very happy and pleased with the response the KSP Challenges have been receiving. From the beginning we wanted to do something with the community where everybody could participate, share and have fun. We’ve had tons of fun making these, receiving suggestions from the community itself and seeing the amazing and creative crafts you have been sharing with all of us. We want to continue making new challenges, while maintaining and even improving their quality, so that everyone continues having fun and feel encouraged to try them out. That is the reason why we want to spread out the completion time for each challenge, depending on their complexity. This means that you will have more time to complete the challenges and we’ll have also more time to think of better ones for you to try out. From now on, we will mention how long each challenge will last (not every challenge will come out on a weekly basis). There will also be many surprises for upcoming challenges, so stay tuned. We hope you keep participating and sharing your crafts, and above all, have a lots of fun! Check out the amazing and creative entries of last week challenge! This week we have another theme for you: "Landing on Duna" Take off from Kerbin, prepare to travel to Duna, land on Duna. Do this without oxidizer of any kind at anytime. You will have two weeks to submit your entries Share your screenshots, videos or images. We want you to have fun and share it with the whole community!
  14. Check out the amazing and creative entries of last week challenge! This week we have another theme for you: “See the system on a toaster!” The Kerbol System is a wonderful place, filled with exotic sights, such as the sand dunes of Laythe, the dust storms of Duna, and the tropical temperatures of Moho. However, some people can't see these incredible sights, due to playing the game on a computer with specs akin to a brick phone that's ran out of batteries. That's where you come in. You have to build vessel that can go as far as possible, with the lowest part-count possible. Share your screenshots, videos or images. We want you to have fun and share it with the whole community! Scoring: The lower the score, the better. Your score is equal to the part count of your vessel on the launch pad, minus points per body you land on. Moho: 15 points Eve: 25 points Duna: 10 points Dres: 15 points Laythe: 25 points Vall: 25 points Tylo: 35 points Bop: 20 points Pol: 20 points Eeloo: 35 points Lowest score wins! Special thanks to @MiffedStarfish !

Incredible artwork by @Pine from the Screenshots Re-imagined thread Special thanks to @Speeding Mullet for making this challenge possible!
  22. Squad should release a Scenario editor to the community. It would: 1) provide a wealth of fresh things to do. 2) stop us from relying on challenges (which are almost depleted). 3) let us start later in the career game. (tech tree and science discovered) 4) allow us to start with off-world facilities. 5) create scenes from our favorite movies/books. and much much more. It should have a slick UI to make scenario generation easy. http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/8804 I almost posted this under feature requests, but I thought it would be more appropriate here as it might change the name of the topic.
