  1. This thread is outdated and old, check out the new one here Check out the discord server! This thread will remain up for archive stuff and also because why not
  2. This is no longer the main thread find the new one here^
  3. This project has been discontinued for reasons I am keeping private. All downloads have been removed and no support will be given. The Vulture System The Vulture Star is a main sequence star similar but more massive to Kerbol. It holds 6 planets, all with individual backstories. The Vulture System is my first ever full Kerbal Space Program project, taking about a month to complete. Github Repo Donate Bodies The Vulture System has 6 planets and 13 moons, making for a total of 19 celestial bodies in total. Features 19 detailed bodies with their own individual stories and high amounts of care put into creation. Two gas giants with detailed moons. Hints toward life and the previous existence of it in the system. Scatterer / EVE support. DistantObject support. PlanetShine support. Installation Requirements: Kopernicus (Should also work with the Bleeding Edge however unrecommended). The Mod Itself (Download Latest Release Here) Scatterer - Not technically requied, but due to an unfixable bug with Kopernicus is extremely recommended to prevent this from appearing. You simply need to install Kopernicus (and it's dependencies) + the Vulture System into your KSP's GameData folder. Vulture should work with 1.9.1+ Recommended Mods: EVE - Adds clouds to both Palleo and Desolation. Make sure to get the stock configs (BoulderCo Folder) for this too! Planet Shine - Makes your vessels reflect the colors of the planet. DistantObject - Makes the planets visible from a distance. Interstellar Extended - Interstellar travel parts. These mods follow a similar installation process. Credits Kopernicus Discord Server - Main place I went to for help and feedback. Great community. @Caps Lock - Made Vulture's sunflare and gave a lot of feedback. Support The best way to get support regarding Vulture is to make a reply on the forum thread (where you are now), or to make an issue on the github repo. Cool Screenshots Licence Squad requires all addons be released with a licence. Vulture is licenced under Apache License 2.0. For a basic rundown you can go here.
  4. A whole new universe to explore! Welcome to the Kerbal Universe! This mod will (eventually) add a whole new universe (including galaxies and nebulas) to KSP. Contains the Gravitas, Iris-Zephyrus, and Juno systems. Download (Github): https://github.com/RMSpace/KerbalUniverse/releases Credits: @blackrack for Singularity License: CC-BY (you can contribute to this mod!)
  5. IMPERIAL PLANET PACK Hundreds of thousands of years after the star Azure passed by Kerbol and deposited a wealth of new planets in the system...such as Olu'um, Quarta, and Scorch...a second star passed by: Helios. It was dragged along by Azure, and passed by the severely altered Kerbol system and changed the already shaken and unstable planets a lot - it effectively "stole" all of the Kerbol planets, rendering their orbits skewed and the planets very different. The Voluxian Empire, from around Olu'um, meanwhile, was going out and colonising all the planets they could: after they got the technology to escape Olu'um, they felt an insatiable drive to spread their kind around the solar system, planting colonies on any planet they could, regardless of whether or not it was feasible. One day, however, they discovered another civilisation in the solar system: on Gaia. They quickly subjugated the population and made the Gaians do the Imperial bidding... APOLLO Apollo, formerly known as Moho, was once a nicer place: brown and airless, rather than with reddish orange colouration and fiery air: with oceans of lava to top it all off. After it captured a small planet that was orbiting Helios, the initial stages of its rings were formed from the debris created from the tidal forces of the two bodies. However, Apollo's new proximity to the sun rendered any moons unstable in their orbits: as such, it crashed into the planet, heating it further and creating the remainder of the ring. Now, the only remnant of this moon is a small chunk of lava orbiting Apollo in an inclined, eccentric orbit... Meanwhile, the Empire was colonising Apollo. Although it was very hot and hostile to life, they nevertheless tried: the components for an atmosphere and oceans were shipped there at great expense to initialise the terraforming process. They managed to get an atmosphere to retain its mass...though it was of such a high pressure that only Voluxians could go outside, not their Gaian servants. After an atmosphere was established and a dense ozone layer were implemented, water was added into the mix. Small oceans formed, but most of it went into the atmosphere. When the small moon crashed into the planet, it vaporised the oceans and a lot of the material on the planet, creating the dense cloud layer currently present and reducing the entire surface to slag for a while. It eventually cooled down enough so that land could form; however, lava still covers a large amount of the surface today. All traces of the colonists were melted with the surface.... THANATOS Thanatos was once known as Eve...until the Voluxians came with their names and made it Thanatos for all intents and purposes; it is significantly different from how it used to be, though: rather than a scalding hot, toxic planet with very high gravity, it is now a hot, high-pressure planet with very high gravity. The introduction of a species of bacterium specialised at breaking down the toxins found in Thanatos's atmosphere converted it into a planet well-suited for colonisation, at least relatively speaking; considering that planets like Apollo existed, it was a mean feat to be considered viable. The conversion increased the liquid component of its oceans and reduced the gaseous, accounting for its lowered atmospheric thickness and increased sea level. The differences in terrain were due to geological activity from the tidal influence of its recently captured moon of Theristis - this airless, bluish grey body is a beautiful sight to see in the crimson sunsets of Thanatos. Theristis was a minor planet in the Helios system, and the large sphere of influence of Thanatos resulted in it being captured. Unlike Apollo's captured moon of Leto, this did not lead to any disastrous consequences for the fledgling ecosystem on the planet below. TERRA Terra. Once known as Gaia, it has undergone drastic changes since the Voluxians first came and turned it into a planet of factories and mines in order to fuel their ever-voracious machine of expansion and colonisation. The ice caps have partially melted, oceans have flooded some of the terrain, vegetation has rebounded since the Empire - the majority of the planet is covered in lush forests of green, save those areas particularly devastated by the fires of industry: the massive, hot deserts encompassing the remaining land. Its moons have not changed much over the years: Luna has undergone some tidal shifting from the passing of Helios, making it somewhat different in terms of look, but fundamentally it is little different from Gol, other than of course the cooling of its crater. Selene's "goo" oceans that it had while it was called Gullis have also mixed back with the rest of the moon, rendering it more alike Minmus than Gullis, but more bluish. (note: I may make Luna [SEKRIT REDACTED NEFARIOUS PLANS FOR LUNA], but for now, it is simply the Mun but slightly different) Now that the Empire has crumbled and all their technology decaying in old fortresses, the Terrans are free to explore the solar system once more... ARES Formerly Duna, and now Ares, this body was one of the successful colonisation attempts of the Empire: unlike Thanatos, however, life on this planet flourished - the red inland of Duna is still present, however, due to the fact that the soil more distant from its oceans is less rich in nutrients; however, life will eventually spread there. Terrans, during the Imperial era, were not allowed there. It was a purely Voluxian world, the centre of their bureaucracy outside of Olu'um. As such, the legends of beautiful, strange forests under a red sky are prevalent in Terran culture from a lack of any ability to actually see the surface. For the first time in recent history, Terrans now have the ability to get to Ares and its beautiful moon Stratos. KYVERNITIS The original name of Kyvernitis has been lost, but it still retains the characteristic green colour it had in times of old; its moons, however, have changed drastically due to the influence of the terraformers of the Empire. Erimos, known once as Laythe, was crashed into by Bop; Bop disintegrated and Erimos lost its water - the only reason it still has an atmosphere is the Empire. Insula, however, was more successful. By melting the ice in the surface and adding an atmosphere, a cold, archipelago world with a band of life around the equator was created...and then Nova: the pride and joy of the Empire. A desert and forest world, temperate, perfect for life, it was used as a vacation resort for the most wealthy of Voluxians; the government was already established on Volux, Terra, and Ares, so they saw no need to set up on Nova...but it truly is a perfect homeworld for life: hence its name, the Voluxian word for "New". This planet pack is meant to be a continuation of the GPO planet pack by Gameslinx (link down below this) and all of his amazing planets, along with the stock ones. THIS IS A DEVELOPMENT THREAD, AND UNTIL I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW FOR EACH STOCK PLANET, I WILL NOT CONSIDER THIS A MOD IN A RELEASE WORTHY STATE, AND EVEN THEN PROBABLY NOT. The order of releases is roughly established: Pre-Alpha is all the stock planets established; Alpha is all the GPO planets established; Beta is all of the stock planets well made; and Release is all GPO planets well made. As of right now, it is in an alpha stage. Enjoy! Screenshots: GPO: Credits: @Gameslinx for inspiring me to make planets, providing advice and help, and just being an overall great influence on how this pack came about; @GregroxMun for yelling at me when I did dumb things with the mod; @Galileo for providing the skybox textures; ThomasP for creating the Kopernicus plugin, without which this mod would not be possible; rbray89 for making EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements, which allows the awesome clouds on Apollo to be a thing; blackrack for making Scatterer, which just makes everything work so much more well; and @JadeOfMaar for recommending things to do, and how to do them better. 6. Wabi Sabi - Perfect Imperfection The Overview: Wabi-Sabi. A word that has held prevalence in Japanese culture for centuries. A word that holds so much meaning and depth, it lacks a proper translation into English. It means the acceptance of transience and imperfection, and appreciation of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete in nature. Wabi-Sabi holds an appreciation of both natural objects and forces of nature, appreciating austerity, modesty, intimacy, asymmetry and roughness. Our planets easily fit this brand. Instead of embracing perfect spheres, habitable planets, perfect and balanced solar systems, we have a different unique approach. Each of our bodies has something unique to offer. In this mod, you won't cheat orbit around each body, or just observe from afar in tracking station, but be motivated to say "I want to go there for myself", and furthermore, "I want to stay here and keep coming back". Planets are unique experiences. They shouldn't be one off screenshot generators, but full of worth, value, and creativity blended with realism. Everything from a super-kerbin with exotic ammonia based life, to a lonely vacuum planet should have a relatively similar amount of value and unique content. If you want solar systems crammed with content, uniquely hand crafted planets, with plenty of gameplay, offering new challenges and reasons to explore, then this is it. Quality > quantity. No filler. In-depth lore and story that will send you on an odyssey spanning the small cluster of stars you find yourself in, somewhere between galaxies. Coming soon™️. 7. I am using Grannus Expansion Pack and I've downloaded it via Ckan but whenever I open KSP none of the planets appear! I've created new save files multiple times. Could someone give me some info/help? Thanks a lot!
  8. Cerillion This mod adds a planet called 'Cerillion' to the Kerbal solar system, as well as it's four moons - Mavis, Shirley, Jacob and Disparia. Cerillion comes bundled with several configurations for other mods such as EVE, as well as hand-made textures, including an 8K cloudmap. Cerillion is entirely procedurally generated, has full science support as well as 15 unique biomes to explore. If that's not enough, we've got you covered! Cerillion has various strange geological anomalies to visit and fly through. It's orange atmosphere has a strange composition, but does contain enough oxygen for jet engines to function. Also, I love it when people make videos of this planet! Official Trailer Facts about Cerillion - a recordbreaking planet pack: - For the first time in history of KSP planet packs, a planet pack features easter eggs in the form of custom 3D models. - For the first time in the history of KSP planet packs, a planet pack features custom terrain scatter models (with working textures!) 15. Kerbinary is a mod I developed to rearrange the solar system in new and interesting ways. It has the main feature of having not 1, not 2, not 3, but . . . Hold on. Only 3 binary systems? For a mod called KerBINARY! Anyway, you might be able to expect some planetary revamps in the far future, but don't count on it. Download https://github.com/TRAPPIST-1E/KerBinary/releases PICS FOR CLICKS ON TO THE LAYOUT (spoilers ahead) Compatability Dependencies Kopernicus. This is a planet mod. What, do you think i'm gonna write my own plugin? LICENSE: MIT
  16. About Planet 9 (P9) is a KSP planet pack that adds the theorized 9th planet of the solar system plus it’s moon system into Kerbal Space Program. However, unlike other planet packs, this pack is entirely proceduraly generated. This also doesn’t mean that the pack’s textures are pre-generated. Infact, the pack download comes with no textures in it at all. Instead, it ships with a custom application that you need to use before being able to play the pack, that proceduraly-generates a new set of textures and models, just for you. Everyone who downloads and plays this pack, will play using a completely unique system of moons around Planet 9. You can even customize your moon system inside the application, and create the perfect system for yourself. This is accomplished through my "ProceduralPlanet" procedural celestial body generation software library. Though it is intended for general use in game development, I am using it here to produce this proceduraly generated planet pack for Kerbal Space Program. Currently, this project is still only a proof-of-concept and will receive further development. Therefore, any bug reports and suggestions are greatly appreciated. However, please note that only the textures and models of the major moons are proceduraly generated. Their physical characteristics and orbits are fixed, though they were determined initially by an algorithm as well. Screenshots Note: because this planet pack is proceduraly generated, the screenshots shown here only represent random examples of the generator's capabilities. Though the pack download does come with some default assets for Planet 9 due to technical reasons, none of the shown moons will appear in your game exactly as seen. As explained previously, your system will be completely randomly generated. Installation Planet 9 is a little bit more difficult install then your regular planet pack, due to the requirement of needing to run the procedural generator first. The download link below will contain a .zip file which, as you're probably used to, needs to extracted into your KSP install's GameData folder. This pack does require the "VertexHeightMap" Kopernicus Expansion from VabienArt’s fork of the Kopernicus Expansions, which can be found here: https://github.com/VabienArt/KopernicusExpansion-Continueder/releases However, a compatible build of this expansion should always be included with the download for this pack. Additionally, while this isn't a strict requirement, it is recommended to have OPM installed, simply so that Planet 9 actually is the 9th planet from Kerbol. You may also want to install an Orion Drive Mod. Just trust me on this. You will need it. Before being able to run your game, you need to run the procedural generation application to create the textures and models unique to your system. However, instructions on using the generator application would blow up this forum post. Instead, I have added usage instructions to the GitHub repository for this project, which can be accessed at this link: https://github.com/89Mods/Planet9/blob/main/README.md Please read the contents of this page very carefully! The generator application in a sensitive piece of software, and will not work at all if you do not follow the instructions to the letter! Visual mods This planet pack comes with scatterer configs for the two celestial bodies in it that have atmospheres. Otherwise, no other visual enhancement mods are utilized in this pack. Support If you have successfully ran the generator application, but cannot start your game, you must provide the Kopernicus log files, or I will be unable to help. If you are trying to run the generator application but get an error, you must show me the exact error message. If the generator application instead freezes with no error, ensure that you have correctly followed the usage instructions for the application. If you did and are still experience this problem, you can send me a message, and I will do my best to help. Licensing This planet pack and the generator application are published under the GNU General Public License v3. Download The current version of the planet pack is 1.2.0 for KSP version 1.12.x, and can be downloaded from the project’s GitHub page here: https://github.com/89Mods/Planet9/releases/tag/1.2.0 Please make sure to carefully follow the installation instructions above, as this is not a simple planet pack. 17. Tilt'Em Adds planetary axial tilt for KSP planets Licence: MIT (don't even ask me for permission to fork it ) Download link Installation instructions Source code I always wanted to have planetary axial tilt with the default planets but I've always read that it was impossible to do it on unity. Principia managed to do it, but you have to use it's cool but complex n-body physics. This mod adds axial tilt to the default planets and keeps the default KSP 2-body physics. Follow the installation instructions to check how to install it and how to edit the planet tilts for each individual planet
  18. Hi, i'm making a planet mod called Endless Expanse. It's by no means done but i think it's already presentable. I'll probably have a development thingy out eventually first i just kinda wanna get the word out. So here's the planetary line up i have right now, it may change in the future. expect full development thread soon.
  19. My second greatest creation to date. Welcome to Flamed Out. What is Flamed Out? What planets does this add? 20. Salus: A J1407b Analogue [1.11] What does this mod add? Salus: A large gas giant out past Jool with the largest rings Kerbals have ever seen. It is thought that a close encounter with a rogue planet gave its orbit its inclination, as well as its current ring system. Visit soon, they're not expected to last for much longer. They've already begun collapsing into moons. Dauble: An icy world harboring a subsurface ocean, with plumes spraying out world-wide. Dauble is nested inside Salus's rings, providing quite the skyline. Dulus: A small moon orbiting rather close to Dauble. This flattened moon is collecting material from Salus's rings across its equator forming a massive equatorial ridge. Don't slip! Duran: A captured asteroid that orbits far from Salus, well past its rings. It's inclined orbit gives the best possible view of Salus. Be sure to bring your camera! 21. I've been working on a planet pack for quite some time now. I've made many planet textures by stitching together images from Google and Wilbur, but I can't figure out why they don't look as good as some other planet packs. For comparison, here's an image of a planet from my planet pack Precursors.... (Sorry about the lighting...it's much brighter in-game). And here's a picture of one of@Gameslinx's planets.... From a purely surface-based standpoint (subtracting EVE and Scatterer), Gameslinx's planet seems much more detailed and much larger when compared to my planet. Maybe it's just me, but is there something I'm missing that would improve the level of detail in my planet textures (aside from EVE and Scatterer)? Should I use higher-res pictures when making my textures, or...? Any suggestions are highly appreciated!
  22. Kerbal Mythology I've always thought about how the Kerbals see deities and other religious/mythological figures, and there isn't really much to go by in the game other than Moho and Bop. I took it upon myself to make a chart of mythological figures that I think the Kerbals may have worshipped. (In a way, this is a continuation of this forum thread). This is by no means a "standard" for Kerbal mythology, as I don't really expect most people to care too much about it anyway, meaning that these names and definitions are open. However, I did think it would be cool to share my ideas in this forum post, so keep reading if you'd like to know what I came up with. You are free to use this "model" of Kerbal Mythology for anything you want, these are just cool ideas I have (e.g., naming your ships, your missions, Kopernicus planets, etc.). I decided to model the deities after Greek and Roman mythological figures (unoriginal, I know). Similar to our own solar system, I made sure that the names of the figures coincided with the celestial bodies in Kerbal Space Program that had real-world counterparts. Obviously, stock KSP has a reduced solar system, so I wouldn't be able to do it with names made only by Squad. I decided to use the names of celestial bodies found in OPM and MPE, two high-quality mods that add "kerbalized" equivalents of real-world celestial bodies into the game. The celestial bodies that these two mods add counterparts for are named after Greek and Roman gods, so I was able to match up each god with the "Kerbal" version of their name. Even after doing so, there were still a number of Greek and Roman gods that didn't have Kerbal counterparts, so I made my own names that try to maintain the same style. I ended up adding one additional god that wasn't present in any of these mods or ideas, which was Alternis, the god of change and difference, from Alternis Kerbol Rekerjiggered. I also added the Kraken. One last thing; several of the deities have purposes or roles different from their Greek and Roman counterparts do. This is because I wanted their roles to make sense in the in-game universe. Legend: Green = Names made by Squad, found in the stock game. Red = Names found in Outer Planets Mod. 25. Gilly Plus is a mod that remakes Gilly to be blue, fixes the timewarp crap and adds craters! just in case you ever suffer from Gilly-is-boring-and-not-blue-enough-itis! https://imgur.com/gallery/PEFIMGV Pics for Clicks Download: https://spacedock.info/mod/2046/Gilly Plus Kopernicus is the only dependency Also, this does remake Gilly's surface, so any spacecraft on Gilly should be launched into a stable orbit before downloading this mod.
