  1. The news of Voyager 2 reaching interstellar space interests me, leading me to wonder if anyone has made a mod that allows you to conduct science experiments in the ksp equivalent of interstellar space (that is, any orbits/trajectories beyond the apoapsis of Eeloo)?
  2. I got Kerbal space program today (after 3 months of begging my parents) but no parts are connecting with each other, I need some help.
  3. I'm really new to the forum so go easy on me :p Here's a bit of a background, I'm building a physic game in Unity with orbital mechanic and I'm really interested in the way that KSP automatically calculates and renders the orbit path for you, not only that but you can plot orbit and transfer to another planet, so far I'm struggling to draw the orbit, the only thing that I can do for now is adding a trail behind object so it kind of resemble an orbit. I probably forgot most of the maths for this, I know that it has something to do with plotting ellipse equation. But can some KSP savvy fan out there tell me the correct way to do this in general? Throw me some needed equations if you have to
  4. Can someone please help me: When I downgrade ksp to older versions CKAN thinks I still have the latest version.I thought the installed version will be recognized automatcally. Could it be because Steam does not change the Build ID when downgrading?Or is it because of CKAN itself? If its the second option, how can I fix it? Thanks for helping
  5. Hi. I'm a player of KSP. I have just shy of 1000 hours played, I've mastered docking, maneuver nodes and rocket designs, but heres the thing. I can't get to another planet or even one of my orbital facilities. Basically I need help with launch rendezvous, launch windows and orbital rendezvous. Please, can anyone help me with this? Cheers, DJ
  6. Does anyone know where I can get official KSP merch? Thanks in advance!
  7. So would downloading a craft file from kerbalX using the ps4 web browser work or would it not know what to do with it
  8. Hi im a new KSP player and have a question I was hoping the forum could answer. I have been able to get to other moons like Minmus and the mun but I get very confused on how to get back it took me 15mins on my first minmus mission to make my return maneuver. So my question is what do all the 6 symbols on the maneuver menu mean as I feel if I knew what they did I could understand it a bit better
  9. 1. is it possible to make a nebula? if so, how? 2. is it possible to make a black hole? if so, how? 3.
  10. Hello, is the auto-strut available for the Enhanced Edition? I'm just wondering as I can't seem to find it
  11. ok, here goes. 2. is the "reach mach 1, reach 10 km, reach orbit" or the "reach mach 3 at 150 meters or below, pitch up to 10 or 15 degrees, reach orbit" ascent profile better for heavy cargo ssto? 5. is 1 whiplash and the rest nuclear engines and rapiers better than just rapiers and nuclear engines all help is appreciated .
  12. I have noticed a great gaping hole in the KSP modding community. We have a devastating lack of Optimization Mods, for players like myself who have lower end PCs, KSP can be more like a slideshow than a game. What I am looking for is a mode that does for KSP, what Optifine did for Minecraft. Does anyone know of any mods for 1.4 or newer that do this or any projects that are working to build a mod like this? Cheers!
  13. How do get Kerbals to wear the new space suits added in Making History?
  14. PLEASE DISREGARD, WRONG THREAD! Do people prefer their ships painted (like Da Vinci's Combat Kit) or stock parts and colors? This is for reference when sharing craft links in this Forum.
  15. I mean like build a space center capable of scanning resources, mine it, return it to the mother ship, convert to more fuel, then go to the next planet/moon?
  16. Hello there ^^ I'm wondering what programs/tools I should use for texturing parts to a semi-realistic standard (i.e. have metallic areas look metallic, and so on), preferably open source/free (but not trial software). I've heard of procedural texture generation, should I try something like that after I practice making a few basic cute little engines like in @Beale's part tutorial? I think that hand-drawn textures are nice, but I feel it may get overwhelming trying to do stuff like it for more detailed parts once I get the hang of modelling parts...
  17. I want to "capture" the thrust of an engine and would like to suppress the visual exhaust representation (if possible even with physical heating effects etc.) in a mod. Is there a proper way to do that? The engine should still run, but ideally not produce an exhaust plume/exhaust effect.
  18. So in my Sandbox I have been to the Mun and Minmus. Now I want to get to Duna, but there are so many ways, Like an Orion/Apollo style, The Martian style with a mothership, A simple giant rocket, etc. What is the Most efficient way? Or the Easiest?

  20. So Ive been an avid player for months on this game - been playing almost a year, and i love the game so much. Now I wanna say this will be it and I'm done if this is unfixable but alas no, this isnt the first time this has happened and unfortunately I still come crawling back to the game. So this might be the third time now where this has happened, I've made loads of awesome rockets on sandbox but suddenly *poof* its all gone. Why do my save files keep dissappearing and can I recover one?? Yours truly, A broken Kerbonaut. EDIT: As an update, the recently released Enhanced Edition should hopefully mean that this something I never have to worry about again....
  21. Hello everyone, I’ve recently been doing my ‘Kerbollo’ Apollo style Mun missions. This is my 1st Mun landing mission and for the last few days I have been trying and trying to rendezvous my kerbals with the command module, but I can’t seem to do it. I’ve watched a few YouTube tutorials, and I’ve even managed to get an encounter within a kilometre, but I can’t get the relative speed below 15 m/s, despite repeatedly using the target/anti target markers. Any tips or help from you more experienced players out there?
  22. *answered* In the R&D facility when looking at other parts in higher tech levels each part has a money value underneath it different from the actual part cost. Can you individually research parts by spending some extra money if you lack the science? Is it a bug? Is it because of my career mode settings? Or just something for a later date? Thanks
  23. This is how it looks in unity and usually looks just about as good with no sudden changes with any smoothness angle setting from 40 to 180: This is how it seems to always turn out in ksp however. In previous iterations, simply setting smoothness angle higher than 150 would do the trick, however that isnt working any more. What i've tried: Making sure the normals are the right way in Blender Trying smoothing angle settings in unity from 40 to 180 Changing shading in Blender ------- As has happened too many times recently, after tons of time spent troubleshooting the problem and getting a whole lot of 'No results found for site:kerbalspaceprogram.com "', right after I decided to make a post about it, I found a solution... well only sort of. I still have no idea why the same settings I normally use (calculate normals, default smoothing angle), but using blenders shading and turning off calculate tangent space did it... I think... maybe...).
  24. Based on this guide for changing emissions here, I was wondering how I would go about adding multiple emissive animations like this together. Figured it out by actually watching the video in the very tutorial I already saw but somehow missed the exact part I was looking for in.... Get different animations selected after making them following said guide. Right click, Animation, Compile
  25. So here is the deal. My ships are very functional. In particular they have science experiments all over the place. I do my best to line up the thrust and the center of mass and get them as close as I can with that little visual indicator they give you in the game. However the accuracy of this indicator is such that they are normally off a bit. This can cause problems, especially with probes being driven by RT where the flaw can be fatal to the mission. I can do things to mitigate such as setting the throttle limiter but it would be great if I had some more accurate indication. I can't seem to find any indication like that in KER and I don't even know if there already is some sort of tool for that that I just don't know about. Anyone have any ideas?
